Looks like this is the team that I will be gradually changing to, thanks for the info guys
I’ve been running Captain America (charging star, except I hear it doesn’t null projectiles? So it might just be shield slash) / Dormammu (liberation or dark hole if I feel like being on the boring/safe side) / Spider-Man (web ball)
I usually stick with web ball for backflip crossing (I like the slow speed and lesser profile: easier to forget, especially when people get over zealous trying to punish the flip. Varying the timing of the assist and baiting a punish attempt is my usual MO. Prolly not as safe, but web swing and spider sting don’t suit me any better.
If cap has issues, then I dhc over to dormammu (do it with stalking flare, and dorm can usually charge twice unless they were close when it hit, three times if they got juggled in the air: so naturally I use caps stars & stripes or maximum spider for this (I hard tag more frequently than I think is desired).
Spider-Man is an old school homeboy. He gets a spot on almost every team, though he’s usually on point. To be honest, Dorm is still my true anchor-he gets the middle spot so I can get him in and out so he can share the black magic. I don’t care what anybody says. Liberation is like six (?) assists in one and is the best fun. Many of them hit otg and I can add a creation point for anti-air utilities as well. They deal nice damage (usually) as well. It’s also a nice fact that my opponent has to remember which spell I have available while dormammu is off-screen where they can’t see his hands or head flames to guess at it. Else they run the risk of running into any combination of fire and rocks I’ve prepared.
I’m almost certain I can hit web throw from all liberation a except c3, and though haven’t experimented yet, I still like c3d0 for spiderman. For a guy that spends so much time in the air, forcing your opponent to ‘stay grounded’ let’s him leverage that extra mobility. Also, no chicken blocking. You stand there and you deal with my high/lows for 300 frames.
Of course, d3 is great damage and combo potential always. Gotta see how well max spider tracks that.
Of course, both spiderman and cap are great batteries, so when they eventually die, dormammu is almost always stacked. Hyper meter goes a long way towards mending the holes in dorm’s solo play, I think.
Alternatively, I run Spider Man (web ball), Iron Man (Repulsor), and Dormammu (dark hole). I like the idea of having long, mid and short range control characters on the team.
You think he’s going to run Morrigan instead of Magneto on point? This seems to be the safest bet.
I said he wouldn’t have the time to continue improving with Magneto, so he wanted a non-technical point that was still strong. I recommended Vergil so he could build a RT glitch team.
Thoughts on Wolverine/Dormammu/Doom(plasma)?
Thoughts on Wolverine/Dormammu/Doom(plasma)?
Me personally, if you’re going to run Wolverine and Dorm, I’d put Dante in the back. I’ve been pondering that team for a while myself. The thing with Logan/Dorm/Doom is that Logan really likes plasma beam, but I’m not sure that assist is really all that great for Dorm. Dorm + missiles is nice; but only when you’re facing match ups that Dorm already does well in. Logan doesn’t mix all that well with missiles.
On the other hand jam session is one of Logan’s best assists. Probably top 3. Give him jam session and Trish and the like are no longer a problem–fixing some of his worst match ups. It also allows for otg pickups with df medium into fatal claw and makes his incoming game nasty. I believe that it can also be used for meter less berserker slash mix ups. Frankly if Logan doesn’t have jam session or mystic ray, it’s easy for aerial teams to completely negate him. Not so much with those 2 assists.
And of course jam session is clearly Dorm’s best assist. Dark hole is not some amazing assist but it provides an easy otg pickup for Logan into fatal claw loops and you can use it to lock the opponent down and tick throw.
And personally, I hate Doom anchor unless he can force the opponent into the corner on incoming. Other than that I think he’s terrible there. But that’s just me.
Check out these videos for the power of Logan + Jam session

There are a couple of imbeds in the thread below as well im having a hard time with getting in on sent with the j.B B C overhead how am i suppose to get near him, do you wave dash or something it’s got to be a factor of this game that im messing jwong does it with ease even with character thats not even sent he finds a way in to do d.claw combos
Task/Dorm/Dante seems like a great team as well that features characters you enjoy.
Was thinking of some other Dorm teams and instead of asking what people thought of teams indivually, I decided to edit this post to see what people here believe are the best Dormammu teams in general. Many people could say that Fchamps team is the best, but maybe we could all brain storm and think of the best possible teams or tier the best teams for Dormammu. Some of the more well known and prominent teams I have in mind currently:
Magneto/Dormammu/Doom
Morrigan/Dormammu/Doom
Magneto/Dormammu/Dante
Dante/Dormammu/Magneto
Firebrand/Dormammu/Doom
Dormammu/Morrigan/Phoenix
Haggar/Dormammu/Magneto
Wesker/Dormammu/Magneto
Doom/Dormammu/Sentinel
Nova/Dormammu/Doom
Wolverine/Dormammu/Shuma
Wolverine/Dormammu/Doom
MODOK/Dormammu/Doom
Spider-Man/Dormammu/Doom
Taskmaster?/Dormammu/Strange
Taskmaster/Dormammu/Doom
What team do you think is the most optimal team for Dormammu?which team is the strongest overall?any teams to add, ommit or change?

Seems like a pretty comprehensive list. I like it. For “top teams” it would most likely only be 4 or 5 of the big bunch, but almost everyone will choose a different 4 or 5, so this totally works for now.
I can’t tell for sure, but I definitely would add that Modok/Dorm/Strange is absurdly good, and deserves to be considered on there as well, Modok’s fast overheads with bolts, also zoning with bolts, and decent extension, in all ways godlike.
And that Taskmaster/Dormammu/Strange, for how decent it seems on paper, and I do love it, doesn’t entirely cut the mustard as far as a top team. Dormammu is a great pressure assist and Bolts a great ranged assist, but Taskmaster can’t convert ground throws into bigbig damage, which, with those two assists, is how he gets the scariest mixups. And if Dorm converts off of bolts, which he does a LOT, he can’t really get optimal damage, do jumploops at the beginning and you can’t get a full relaunch with Tasky. I guess I’m just spoiled, I always had an extender after the combo that didn’t care about hitstun (Launcher slam or Quick Work, both very odd things to see with Dormammu normally, though Lariat/Log is a more common example of the same thing).
I think Task/Dorm is a bit better with Disruptor or Plasma or Jam Session on the back, and I’m a really big bolts fan and anchor strange, so I mean it quite seriously when I think there are better choices there. Still a damn good team, though, and I’m considering it as an alt regardless because I don’t play Dante/Mags/Doom (which is a tactical error, I am aware)
Oh, and I have a question for all of urrbody too.
Deadpool/Dorm…how can I make that as cheap as possible? I’m uncertain about purification or dark hole, both of which are situational at best for deadpool, I feel. Dark Hole has a few sick resets and pretty good incomings, Purification annoys trish.
I made a video of Strider backing that team, and I LOVE vajra for that team, but I have a terrible strider, and dislike playing him anchor.
Other ideas:
-Deadpool/Task/Dorm (but I have that team with strange on the back and love it, Dorm won’t do better than some fine-ass bolts action, though Task gets better pressure)
-Deadpool/Dorm/Strange (do what I always do, slap bolts on it and call it a day, probly the best team for Dormammu combos, doesn’t function at all against wolvy/up-close game that well, though)
-Deadpool/Dorm/Hawkeye (annoying-ass-DHCs: the team, all it needs is Trish)
-Anything else you guys suggest, though Mags and Doom I don’t know how to play, I’d be willing to try if they are overwhelmingly better than the rest, though.
Oh, and I tried for a while Task/Dorm/Deadpool, gimmick unblockables, but Task and Dorm do enough damage anyway, they don’t care. Not as good, except against Wovly teams. I found this very useful then.
Mag/Dorm/Doom is still the best dorm team.
Mag/Dorm/Doom is still the best dorm team.
I feel that it may be as well but I’m starting to see( and I’m sure that Champ sees it to) that Dorm/Doom shells have a weakness if the point character dies. Dorm needs to be setup properly to be truly effective, and Doom overall is not your strongest anchor. If Mags gets caught up in the begining and hasn’t had the opportunity to gain some meter and setup Dormammu, then it’s definitely an uphill battle from there. Dormammu has to survive the incoming mixup, and if he does, has to use his mobility to get away from the other player who is trying to smother them and to try to setup their keep away and lockdown game. I think that’s why Champ always goes back to playing his Phoenix team, especially against strong wolverine rushdown teams. He at least has a strong anchor in Dark Phoenix that gives him a contingency plan if Mags/Doom fails.
Thats the story of dormammus life really. Theres no team that fixes his problem of him losing if he cant get set up.
Maybe people should consider playing him on point with a good GTFO me assist, or anchor so he has the ability to have 2 characters set him up in case 1 fails?
Dorm point with Haggar behind him is sick for that reason. A good assist on back and he’s golden.
I haven’t seen that many teams built that way, though. I do, however, see it working in theory, Dorm with two assists that could possibly extend, or one assist and dark harmonizer…in those cases he builds much more meter than he spends.
No love for Vergil/Dormammu/Magneto?
I occasionally use that team but I prefer Vergil/Dorm/Strange.

Sad but so true. I think this is the main reason why you will never see Dorm used frequently in high level play. Think about how many teams people use in this game are based around the idea of never letting the other person play or even get started. Dorm’s gameplan is the antithesis of Marvel 3.
Relatively new to Dorm.
Team I run is Strange/Dorm/Vergil. Dark Hole allows Strange to go for aggressive start. If they block then I push them away and start zoning. If it hits, full combo. Vergil anchor of couse.
Wolv/Doom/Vergil in pocket but I’d like for this team to work.
If you like Strange in that position, then yeah, that team is excellent. Dorm can do strings into rapid slash to push the opponent away and begin extremely annoying zoning with bolts. Strange can also, on a knockdown, end a combo with daggers of denak M, pillar an DHC to stalking Flare Quickly, and either get time to charge with Dorm or tag in Strange again and then either grace-flames or teleport up, flight, impact palm unfly Impact palm, and then you may be able to go into one teeny tiny flame loop before finishing.
Dorm can also do teleport stuff with bolts.
How do you guys feel about Dorm with EoA assist?
And what are my options with Dorm/Strange(EoA)/???
