Yeah I used to use Dante and love Jam Session for Dorm, but the amount of work I needed to put into him just to break 700k is a lot compared to others.
You would also have to put a lot of work in Strider for even less damage. XF3 Strider is better than XF3 Dante, but XF3 Dante can still kill very quickly with proper combos.
Really? I feel like BC Teleport for Dante is what was giving me trouble and without that I can’t get big damage. Ugh I just need a team that works for Dorm. i used to use Magneto, but couldn’t Hyper Grav Loop so I figured I was wasting his damage potential for a point character.
So who do you guys like on point for Dorm? Right now I’m torn between Magneto, Nova and C.Viper. Maybe even Spiderman.
Then for anchor I still don’t know. Maybe between Strider, Iron Man, Dante.
Low damage Dante combos can be traced to a lack of shot loops and generally poorly thought-out combos that are scaled too quickly in the beginning. Optimal Dante combos should go anywhere from 700-900K for 1 meter. You don’t need BC Teleport to get damaging combos but you do need to think out the combos in detail and what resources you’re preserving (damage scaling, ground bounce, wall bounce, assist timings, etc.) as you progress through them.
If you can’t figure out how to do something, you may be thinking about it the wrong way or unconsciously setting up a mental barrier. Break down the process and figure out where you’re going wrong.
Magneto and Dante are the best out of those groups respectively. There are other characters you may find odd like Tron, Vergil, RR, etc. that still work well with him.
If anyone tries to play the pair, never ever call strider when trying a 3/4ths-screen-to-fullscreen dark matter crossup, call Strider for the “fake crossup” which is simply not teleporting and charging twice, you can purification and chaotic flame afterwards, charge a third and go for chip, or dark dimension, and either extend with the other assist, charge a third and go for explosion/volcano, both if you’ve got the right team, or rawtag for sillyness/style (Deadpool likes it). On block it’s safe enough.
Teleport mixups, sometimes the best move is not to play.
Are you sure about this? Any combo I see for Dante that breaks 800k involves BC teleport to wall bounce followup. Please point me in the right direction if you know of something I don’t. I know he has many combos for diff situations and some for damage vs meter building, but I have yet to see any of the high damage combos that don’t use Stinger BC TP. I really would like to continue using Dante for Dorm, but I need to make sure I can do damage with him otherwise I’m wasting the slot when I can just go ham with Vergil or Strider.
On a good note I have been breaking down my hyper grav loops and can get 1 rep out, but sometimes they drop before the next grav connects, I might no be hitting H fast enough on the way down from the sj.
Only the last one uses BC Teleport but all of them break 800K without even using the second assist. In the last combo he might’ve been able to do s.S, super-jump cancel Crystal, jump up j.S/Reverb Shock after he SJ canceled into Acid Rain.
1,000,000+ combo with Dark Hole using lvl 3:
If you substitute Million Dollars for Devil Must Die, you’ll get ~214K+ so the combo ends at around ~828K.
Also with Dante/Dormammu you can take advantage of spells to do things like this (954K corner combo):
And then you can do stuff like this with other assists.
Practical 867K corner combo:
Hard 906K corner combo:
Solo combos with BC teleport will net you from 600-750K. You should learn them but it’s not the only way (and I believe it’s not the best way either) to maximum his damage + meter build off a confirm.
Good job! I know a lot of people struggle with Hyper Grav loops at first because it feels off but just keep going at it.
Hey guys this might be a silly question but is there a way to dhc from dorm to million dollars? After trying in training mode I can’t get it to land dhcing before or after the last hit. This is after purification xx chaotic flame in the corner
Chaotic Flame makes them flip up at a set point, relative to how high they got popped out of the last hit. If they’re lower in the super, they flip out lower, you have to get them low enough if you wanna DHC to horizontal supers. Deadpool’s guns super is the same way. Sometimes tower can go into it, but you can eyeball if they’re too high. If not, devil trigger instead? Dorm doesn’t use a groundbounce.
trying out Spencer/Zero/Dorm again but in a different order. Which assist would benefit dorm most? Spencer likes Hadangeki…but i assume DP assist would do more for Dorm, but i’m not sure he can get a full combo off of it. Hadangeki gives a full screen mix up more chip…useful at full screen where dorm wants to be.
Nice stuff, thanks for the links. It looks like all of those top combos use the clay loops. I’ve tried learning them in the past, but the timing seems kind of hard to get constantly enough to use as a bnb. Do you know of any players that use them in actual matches consistently?
Wanted everyone’s opinion on a team I was thinking about playing, Dante/Dormammu/Magneto. Eventually I’m going to be replacing Hawkeye permanently with either Magneto or Doom, and was thinking if replacing Task with someone as well.
I’ve been playingTaskmaster/Dormammu/Doom(plasma beam) but for some reason I just don’t like Dooms style no matter how hard I try and am forcing myself to play the character lol. So I’m seriously considering adopting Magneto as my anchor, and think adding Dante on point with Jam session( or the other way around) would be the next best Dorm team other than Mag/Dorm/Doom.
Mags/Dorm/Dante is a very theory team. I think its great and very interesting but no ones really proven anything with the team.
Alot of randoms I play online always seem to counter pick my morridoom with dorm/jam session and somebody tried it against me in casuals at a tournament once. I feel It definitely has the potential to be a morridoom counter (although Vergil on a morridoom team will give it real problems).
Unfortunately the only player I can think of using the team is Spiral from Norcal so the team doesnt have much data in tournaments to analyse from. Might slip under the radar as a morridoom counter.
Magneto/Dorm/Dante is one of the best teams in the game for Dorm. Dante/Dorm/Magneto has a stronger anchor but a slightly weaker point battery. Either way you get four great shells in Magneto/Dante, Dante/Magneto, Dorm/Dante, and Dorm/Magneto plus strong DHCs, a very powerful THC with Mags/Dante, and comprehensive protection against rushdown-heavy teams. It lacks the strong raw tag potential of Dorm/Doom although you can replicate the same things with Dante for -100,000 damge (and you can raw tag Magneto off 2C1D).
Personally I like Log Trap as it covers all the right spaces: above Dorm’s head, the bottom middle of the screen, and the area where Mass Change M would appear. The wall bounce ensures a easy followup and the trajectory sets up great teleport mixups on neutral and incoming. 10 durability points is nice to blow through other projectiles. However Spitfire is very underrated and I’m not sure where it should be regarded. It’s a tracking version of Drones with less overall durability but much harder to hit, both which are great for Dorm. It would be better against rushdown characters.
