Good partners for Dormammu?

Dante Dorm Strange
Orders?
Assists?
I’m sure this team can be pretty sick.

Probly Dante (Jam)/Dormy (Dark Hole)/Strange (Bolts). Strange, of the bunch, is probably the least terrifying of all three decent anchors, but my goodness, is bolts cheap on Dante and Dormammu. It sounds like a very mixupy/go-nuts team (with some annoying Dorm zoning to boot, dark matter+bolts is basically free meteors when blocked), and if they snap in Strange, you’re still in a pretty good position as far as team order.

When my Dante gets better I was actually planning on trying out that exact same team, lemme know if you come across anything particularly swaggy between those three.

Sorry to respond on both forums but I think Strange is an alright anchor if they don’t have xfc. As scrubby as it may be SOV punish xfc kill combo works on the first char put up a grace and an Eye hit the eye 1 more grace sj.up 1 grace teleport a couple of strings into :l: mystic sword then catch them off guard with a crumpling flame.

Ive considered this a lot (with Mag), but I just can’t get over the thought that Vergil and Dorm compete too much for the meter. Even just point-Vergil in general… I dunno. Just picture myself w/ no meter wishing I had some. Have you guys been able to make this work? If Dark Hole allows for meterless conversions off a Helm Breaker, at least that would be something.

No argument here. I think all three are pretty awesome, if under-used, anchors in their own right. Dorm for the speed at which he can lock the field, Strange for yolo vishanti into free momentum, and Dante for incoming mixup after incoming mixup and safe outs by always having meter for devil trigger.

No, if it was me, I’d definitely go Dante/Dorm/Strange, a hit and you get to mahvel it up as long as they don’t block the filthy stuff to follow. Probly dark hole to extend for Dante, and Bolts is by far the best assist for them both. Dorm with Jam Session is extremely strong too, there is a mixup video by GomuGomu showing mixup potential with it, I can find it if you want, but right now I’m a bit…extremely tired.

I’ve seen all of Gomu’s videos no worries haha and yeah imo that’s the best possible team too.

Point Vergil is one of the most abusive and underrated characters in the game. He also has safe raw tag setups that give Dorm DT Rapid Slash as an assist.

Dark Hole can interrupt Helm Breaker and allow you to immediately go into Round Trip. Also you get extended SH loops and guaranteed RT glitch blockstrings.

Also on the topic of Vergil/Dark Hole, if you get the timing down you can do the OTG (dunno the name, the upward jumping OTG move) into the Dark Hole, Teleport down, then do a Stinger, or I imagine a cr.H into Spinny Kick Ground Bounce thingy.

Who’s the best anchor for team Vergil/Dormammu/x? I’d imagine either Disruptah or Plasmuh Beem. The optimist in me wants to say Shopping Cart because I like Frank, but definitely not the best.

High Time.

Probably Magneto. Personally I like Strange because Bolts is active long enough that I feel I can use RT glitch safely (plus Strange can go into FoF loops with a raw tag off 2C1D). The biggest problem though is that Bolts is active so long you cannot get a pickup off a throw between the two projectiles.

Hey guys. I’ve already posted in the Spider-Man forums but I’ve decided to make an account here after years of lurking and following. My third favorite character in this game( after Spidey and Zero) is Dormammu, and I really want to make the best team composition out there for him. I’ve tested a lot of combinations, but there are some conflicting problems I’ve run into, most notably these two:

  1. Dormammu needs to be 2nd or third on a team and needs to be able to be safely DHCed into to maximize his effectiveness. I think that fact is well known, but I’m having difficulty with how to approach this. What character should go first? Should it be a character who can get the first hit and DHC to Dorm for a kill like Wolverine or Firebrand? Or should it be a character who has decent zoning and can DHC through lockdown like Morrigan or Doom? Magneto has a little of both qualities, but how well does he use Dorm? Which leads me to my next problem.

  2. Dorm’s assists, while not bad, aren’t quite abusable enough to warrant him 2nd or Anchor(which is where I really want to put him. Temporary 3rd spot so that he can possibly be DHCed into from the 2nd character and work with Lv2 X-factor. since none of them are really neutral assists, does it really matter whether or not I go with Dark Hole or Liberation(Liberation might be more situational, but it gives the Stalking Flare THC and can be his most useful assist by far if Dorm gets a chance to charge it)?

Any thoughts? I’m currently testing out Doom(a)/Dorm(y)/Dante(a)(Doom plays keepaway with Jam Session until he can Photon Array into Stalking Flare and start the lockdown).

Doom on point ahead of Dorm, huh? I wonder how much Jam Session solves his issues with zoning.

Whats the general consensus of Dorm on point? Ive been thinking of putting together a team of Dorm , X , Ammy.
The X character is undecided but it will likely be a character with a beam assist. It seems from general browsing that you guys prefer him on second. Is this because he offers so much as a second character or he is consider a weak character on point?

Most people, me included, like him on second because a lot of times when he comes in, he comes in on your terms, which means you can throw out 1 or 2 free mixups or start charging dem spells, dawg. Point Dorm has to worry about defense before he can set up shop, and Hulk and Wolvy don’t give him a chance to do that sometimes.

Also there’s the awesome TAC when he’s on second.

In reality, Dorm can work on point fine, ideally with a get-off-me assist, jam session and lariat come to mind, but on point without one of those he can totally work, Champ’s shown that.

The best two I can think of for Dorm/?/Ammy would be Doom on plasma beam or Strange on bolts. Both of those shells, Strange/Ammy and Doom/Ammy have some of the best THC potential in the game, more obvious for Doom but not to be underestimated with Strange either. Bolts is also my personal favorite assist for Dorm, probly top5 for his assists in general, but it is a lot harder to call Strange unless you already have some space. And plasma is plasma, slightly less potential than bolts for zoning and teleport crossups, but more overall usability, the durability and relative safety when you call out the assist is pretty great. Or missiles, or even rocks, all are good.

I think I actually prefer Dorm/Beam/Ammy to ?/Dorm/Ammy, simply because this way you have a fullscreen assist somewhere. If you wanted to go without a fullscreen/projectile assist, there’s also always Trish, Firebrand, or Mags with Dorm/Ammy in back, though pretty much all of those would benefit more from a different anchor (Dante, Doom, Vergil, Strange, Hawkeye, etc.)

To continue along this line of questioning, I want to run Chris and then Haggar/Dorm or Dorm/Haggar. Given the choice between the two which is the better character to anchor that team in the opinions of the Dorm forum???

Haggar is the worse anchor but Dorm/Lariat is a stronger pairing than Haggar/any Dorm assist.

I really want people to check out this vid. I’ve run Mags/Dorm/Coon in my mind as one of the best Dorm centered teams a few times. Mainly because of my belief that Magneto is the best point for a Dorm team and because Vergil slaughters Dante/Dorm/Mags.

This vid shows just how great Mag + Coon is for Dorm. Suprisingly Log isn’t too shabby for Mags and honestly I think it’s basically tied with Jam session for Dorm’s best assist. There’s a lot of anti Vergil tech on the team and disruptor is great for the Coon. Check it out.

Mag/Dorm/Coon is better than Mag/Dorm/Dante against the likes of Vergil?

Yeah definitely–watch the vid. I’ve heard people talk about it before but this vid really highlights a lot of the tech Racoon has for controlling him. You can basically stop him from going wild by turning the ground into Vietnam. Mad Hopper, net traps, boulder traps that lead to unblockables–it’s absurd. Making matters worse for Vergil is that you can combine all of this with stalking flares and flame carpets( a low attack) and the Coon’s burrow. To be honest I think Coon almost turns anchor Vergil into a liability if you have Dorm. Consistently surviving the incoming as Vergil with stalking flares, flame carpets, mad hoppers, boulder traps, and burrow teleport mixups all coming at you( often at the same time) really isn’t your favor. Dante has no such tricks to my knowledge.

Honestly, the setup he did that one match, which was setup a stalking flare and spring, boulder trap, tag in magneto, then after they fall out of blockstun for the stalking flare st.S dash on block cr.L, it’s a crapton of work, but I don’t think anyone can actually escape the resulting unblockable, airdashes or no.

Vergil seems like much less effort than that on incoming, maybe a stalking flare, carpet, tag rocket, teleport M before the carpet hits into instant overhead grenade.

I also think coon can punish swords with his level 3, not positive, might just be in XF, but, from what I’ve been seeing it seems Japan is picking anchor coon as the closest thing to a “counter” for Vergil. It doesn’t seem that far-fetched to me.

Yes, RR can lv3 Vergil out of SS, and he can also net trap Vergil out of SS. I wouldn’t call him a counter though, since his normal neutral game vs Vergil is terrible(Vergil’s normals give RR hell, and RR’s traps can be nullified by them too). RR can make unblockables with an assortment of characters, but it seems kind of redundant to me to pair him with Dormammu since he has his own unblockable setups that can be just as effective. I have a question though: Would Magneto/Dorm/Dante or Doom/Dorm/Dante be a better team for Dorm? Magneto is certainly a better point character than Doom, but this particular team setup allows for the point to DHC out and still be at an offensive advantage. Is Doom’s synergy with Dorm worth putting him in over Mags?(I’m personally feeling Doom right now, but would like a second opinion since I’m open to other views on this)
