I think you’d have to make a sacrifice on who exactly you want to get in safely. Sentinel getting bopped instantly is a real possibility and you leave yourself with no neutral assist whatsoever.
In that team order though, its a shame that only Morrigan has any real start of the round stuff, thats a very meter reliant team.
Its whatever though, only getting 1 character in safely obviously works out alright, as you mentioned, Chris G and Fchamp do it.
^They are amazing assists for dorm when he has space. On point at the start of the round he really needs Tatsu or lariat to reliably escape from Wolverine and Magneto.
I started playing this game with Sentinel on point, and I used him with this team composition (but not this strategy) toward the end of Vanilla’s life, before I subbed him out for Phoenix to prepare for Firebrand. If there’s one thing I’m good at in this game, it’s running away. Sentinel is damn good at running away. He’s one of the safest starting characters out there because he can start every round at double jump height. Very few characters can get in on Sentinel. The only reason I eventually dropped Sentinel on point was I couldn’t handle dedicated zoning teams. As long as my goal isn’t to win with Sentinel, I don’t think this will be a problem.
Dark Harmonizer helps with the meter reliance, but I don’t play Morrigan like Chris G. I only use Astral Vision in certain situations and matchups, and I spend most of my time rushing. Sentinel only needs one bar to operate properly so people respect the Hard Drive and he has Hyper Sentinel Force XFC as a threat against assists on anchor.
Against a competent rushdown player, you’ll never get to call either of these for a good portion of your matches.
I think people are underrating how good Sentinel is at stalling. Maybe I won’t stick with the team, but I don’t foresee him as the point character being the problem.
Anyway, does anyone know the Sentinel/Dormammu tech I was referring to?
Sentinel is great at stalling, I agree, you could be the best staller in the game but what matters is how you fare before the match even starts when you got some nikkas bumping chests with your chassy. If you know Sentinel has sick start of the round options ( and admittedly, they’re probably better than Dormammus at the least ) or are confident, try it out. Just sounds a little risky, and I feel consistency+reliability are a must for zoning based teams.
Yeah if you are personally comfortable with something then fuck the concensus. However if you were just starting out with those characters (which you arent of course) I wouldnt recommend them on point.
Hey guys I was thinking of running Deadpool/Arthur/Dorm, can anyone tell me if this is ok? I figure Dagger toss was enough of a beam to let Deadpool be cheap before he gets in and to finish off his neutral game, I was thinking dark hole just to lock down.I could always use purification just for pillars.
It does help with Dorm’s zoning and teleport mixups a bit, but Dorm has no way to deal real good damage out of Vajra’s hard knockdown even if you charge up Spells for 3D0C.
Everything helps in some way, but I wouldn’t call Vajra a top assist for him. He just doesn’t get anything off of a hit from it. It’s nice for a little more screen control, but you’re better off giving him Jam Session or Hidden Missiles if you’re worried about the vertical.
Hey what are you guys opinions of Felicia/Dorm teams. I have been running this setup and you can get some nasty setups off with dorm stalking flare with felicia. Also with felicia on point you can do that ZAK Bennent combo extension when does 1 red and blue from firebrands hyper and you get more damage off of it compared to firebrand because felica does a lot more damage then firebrand. You also get access to unblockables for both felican and dorm. With slide assist dorm gets a long range unblockable and with stalking flare and kitty helper Felicia gets to unblockable whoever is trapped. Felicia also gets a semi free command grab on any incoming oppenent assuming dorm has a stalking flare out. Felicia takes care of the meter building part for dorm with her long combos and her special move that builds hyper meter (really good after stalking flare). I’m still working on some tech with this duo but its looking very promising. Still would love opinions of this duo if any of you have played with or against those 2 before.
My guess is that it works with a lot of characters. I would add the following in as almost certain, but if anyone wants to test a list, I’d gleefully add it to the guide:
Vergil
Iron Fist
Hawkeye
Deadpool
Dr. Doom
MODOK
Phoenix
Sentinel
Spider-man
Storm
Skrull
Thor
Zero
Spencer
Morrigan
C. Viper
Amaterasu
If any of those seem out of the blue, let me know and I can share my thinking.
