I have been using Task since vanilla and every time i try to get rid of him i end up coming back to him. He can zone with air arrows pretty well and if he has a projectile assist he can hit pretty much anywhere on the screen. He can easily happy bday ppl and take out lower health character with some combo. He has good range for punishing ppl who like to approach from air and builds meter that he doesnt NEED to use. I want to change him out, but he really handles a lot of situations. He also has some decent block strings when used with Dorm’s dark hole.
I started running Dorm on point for more practice and because Task Up Arrows + Purification covers pretty much the entire screen and has no problem hitting the top opposite corner which is where a lot of ppl like to try and dash/jump in from.
I mentioned it a handful of posts up but as much as I love Nova and as much as I love Dorm, they just don’t feel right together.
Dark Hole I don’t think is a great Assist for Nova because it’s stationary and doesn’t really help Nova get in or make his movement more annoying the way Sent Drones do.
As for DHCs into Dorm from Nova you’d have to end your combos on the ground then do Centurion Rush L into Super Nova (most damaging without giving up red life) xx Chaotic Flame or Stalking Flare depending on the situation.
Also if you end Nova’s combos in the air xx Super Nova you can DHC into Dorm’s Stalking Flare.
I like Dorm + Nova’s Centurion Rush M Assist for OTG + Unblockables but as mentioned, I don’t like Dorm’s Assist for Nova at all.
My Ult strategy comprises Doom xxx Sent, and from almost day one, the meat in my Doom Sent sandwich has been Dr. Strange. However, for reasons I won’t get into unless anyone actually gives a shit, I find myself needing to replace Strange (sniff), and I think Wesker and Dorm both make the most logical candidates (or Storm, but no thanks). I’m def leaning towards Wesk, but Dorm is good enough that I thought I’d ask about him here before deciding.
Despite starting Doom, my strategy usually involves having my 2nd character come in to be the point, the idea being that if I TAC or DHC into whoever, they come in with the momentum and can get right to business as opposed to having to jockey for position. So the question is basically, if I’ve got a Dorm who gets to do whatever the fuck he wants upon arrival, with Drones and either Plasma Beam or Missiles, what are some good sequences or things I can do to seize and ideally keep control until they die?
I would like to know what is unpalatable about a Strange Sandwich, because I was going to make him the meat of a Firebrand / xxx / Amaterasu foot-long. It might also be relevant because Dorm and Strange could be decent partners (maybe? … okay I admit it’s off topic lol).
Yea, I played around with Dorm/Nova/Sent last night in some Casuals with a friend. It’s definitely better in that order.
Dorm gets Unblockables with Centurion Rush Assist + Drones Shenanigans. Really fun stuff. The timing for Flame Carpet + Centurion Rush M Assist in the corner is a little strange, but Mid-Screen it’s normal timing and there it kicks the opponent back and gives a ground bounce where you can just go into raw Chaotic Flame.
Nova gets Drones, which is ALWAYS good. Same issue as before, have to alter the Nova combos slightly so they end up on the ground to DHC into Sentinel. That means you can’t end the H Flight Loop xx Super Nova in the air.
Looking for a bit of advice… I’ve been trying to run Ghost Rider and Dorm on the same team, but I’m having some problems. The main issue seems to be that Ghost Rider needs two good assists to make him viable. Dark Hole is ok for extending his combos but it doesn’t cover any of his weaknesses. I’ve mainly been playing Ghost/Sent/Dorm or Ghost/Taskmaster/Dorm, but I just can’t make it work. Am I missing something? Or do the flame heads just not play well together?
Is it just me or would a team of Dormammu/Doom/Strider be one of the craziest zoning teams ever? Plasma Beam & Vajra would give Dormammu much time to keep you away.
Maybe go with purification. The only way I think to get in on ghost rider is super jump, tp, or air dash. So purification should help app sj add air dashes?
I’m not a big fan of Ghost + Dorm for the reason you mentioned…Dark Hole just isn’t that great of an Assist for Ghost Rider. I like the DHC Synergy, but that’s about it. Sent Drones should be required to play Ghost Rider
Also I’m not a big fan of that Task/Dorm order you posted. Even though many I’ve talked to like Dorm as Anchor, Dorm + Horizontal Task Arrows gives him access to some stupid Teleport Mixups, space control as well as an Flame Carpet/OTG Assist Capabilities.
I’ve been a Dorm player since vanilla and have experimented with a couple teams in Ultimate. Looking for some feedback.
the last few tournaments including SCR that I have played in I have ran wesker/dorm/hawkeye in that order. I use hawkeye to help get in with Wesker and the dark hole assist has helped me set up some stuff with both wesker and hawkeye. I feel that all 3 characters complement one another and are strong characters by themselves with good comeback potential.
Another team that I work with is Strange(disks)/hawkeye(greyhounnd)/dorm(darkhole). I find strange to be really fun to play(at least more so than wesker at the moment) and hawkeye helps with teleport mixup with strange. I’m still searching for that synergy between strange and dorm.
Wesker/Dorm/Hawkeye is a good team. They all compliment each other very well. Hawkeye is good as an anchor in XF3. Though I think Karst suggests putting Dormammu above Wesker because of the DHC into Rhino Charge if someone tries to do a invincible physical hyper against a Chaotic Flame. You’re able to use Dark Hole effectively, eh? While Dark Hole is useful as an assist, it’s doesn’t seem as good as other lockdown assists. I put Dormammu on point now ahead of Wesker, so I can take advantage of OTG gun for extended combos. I am strongly thinking of changing Doom out for Hawkeye since his Greyhound assist is more durable than Doom’s beam assist. Also, it doesn’t knock oppoenents back like Doom’s beam does.
About the 2nd team, I don’t know about Dorm as an anchor. Strange on point is a good idea on that team. There’s a Dormammu video on the SRK front page where the player uses Eye of Agomotto to extend a corner combo. Perhaps you should try a Dorm/Strange/Hawkeye order.
Imo if Dorm is on point, Magneto’s EM disruptor is easily his strongest assist. You have free teleport 50/50s and can grab an easy 700k from single mixups. MastaCJ makes that ish look broken.
Hawkeye’s Triple Arrow assist (Quick Shot - Greyhound) is also a good substitute. It combines the durability of Plasma Beam assist + speed of Disruptor assist + and the non-knockback of the Unibeam assist into one package. You can get an easy 700k from Triple Arrow assist as well.
I like using Triple Arrow assist now since it still leaves opponents standing when hit.
