But it’s not the focus of the movie. I read that shit and wondered if they are aware of what kind of film they are watching.
It is a strange deal but I guess for a lot of these critics they really don’t enjoy a movie that is just trying to be a monster fight. That being said, the only reason I can’t get the drop off in attendance unless that a bunch of people really did only see 2014 Godzilla for the brief but heavily publicized part played by Hal from Malcolm in the Middle.
I don’t think Kaiju movies are destined for mainstream success.
Yeah, that was practically a bait and switch. However, it was effective because that was the one thing that enticed me into buying a ticket.
At least for western audiences. Pacific Rim was the chocolate and peanut butter of those franchise and financially just did OK.
Cause they focus too much on the human shit that Kaiju fans give absolute no fucks about. Like. None. At all.
I don’t give a fuck about or need to relate to any human in a Kaiju film. I don’t care about their relationships or budding romances. Just have them tell me why this monster is around to fight this monster and be done with it.
Like pacific rim was the definition of “ok” cause it still had all the same issues. Focusing too much on the humans.
You say you don’t give a fuck but even kaiju films do mad unnecessary human shit. Govt vs scientists beef happen in 80% of godzilla movies
I’m aware. But it’s just a narrative for the plot and to give a “moral of the story” type feel for the film. Not the central focus
Saw this movie last weekend and yeah it had a mostly nonsensical plot and character motivations, especially the mother. I also hate how disastrous stuff happens but everything just conveniently works out. So yeah on that note the humans were kind of an eyesore.
Thankfully, the kaiju fights made up for it though so it’s still a decent watch if you go in with low expectations.
5/10 rating.
her reasoning is that of an eco terrorist. Its thin but so are real eco terrorist who are willing to slaughter whaling vessels.
Except she was punishing the entire human race for the sins of a relative few. Most eco-terrorists attack the institutions responsible for problem.
I also found it weird how no one in movie
Summary
directly acknowledges that she’s responsible for the deaths of countless people later on in the film, including her fellow colleagues.
??
Summary
i dont think she survived til the end. unless i totally ignored her being picked up in the rubble
I mean she sacrificed herself in the end to atone for her sins. But whatever.
Summary
Her daughter is the only one to acknowledge she was a monster. But then again that was after she nearly killed her dad with a giant three headed gold dragon.
Yeah exactly.
Summary
Even the process of awakening King Ghidorah was tantamount to attempted murder since she had no idea her husband and Monarch members would survive the giant chunks of Antarctic ice falling on them. It was pretty much plot armor that saved all the essential cast.
Considering she’s supposed to be a super smart lady her decisions made little sense, it would’ve been more compelling if they made the mother completely insane and her daughter stuck around to try to save her from herself. The daughter even entertaining this stupid idea initially after the terrorist attack seemed unrealistic.
Still a decent popcorn flick if you just want to see super CGI’d monsters duking it out.
Finally got around to watching it and had fun with it. The easter eggs are plenty thats for sure. The human stuff could have stepped aside thou but man the final battle was top stuff.
This movie was so badass. I saw it in IMAX twice and 1 other time for good measure. Had a great time. I can’t wait to see Godzilla vs Kong
