Godzilla: King of the Monsters May 2019.Trailer out!

So I’m potentially going to be very upset.
They just announced on the local news due to storms and subsequent flooding that happened late last week they’re closing all the bridges in the surrounding area. Those bridges are the only way to get to the town where I have tickets to go see Goji and friends.

They’re closing them tonight at 10pm and said the earliest they’ll open them is “maybe Wednesday”

To add to the shit sandwich; it’s going to be storming all day Wednesday which is going to cause even more flooding which will likely have the bridges closed even longer.

However! There is a very tiny glimmer of hope. There is a theater in the town I live in. I just don’t go to it because they rarely do “midnight premiers” and they don’t open until like 4pm which irritates me because I hate going to later showings since it usually means more people. Right now on fandango they don’t have any 30th “midnight premiers” at this theater but if they do I’ll buy one with the quickness. If they don’t it will likely be in the theater the next day.

As long as I get to see it ASAP.

I need it in my life.

iTunes has all the Godzilla movies they have available for sale for $4.99-9.99 except Shin Godzilla which is still at its normal price of $14.99.

While they don’t have many of the films (I want to say about 12?) it would be a nice alternative if I can’t see King of the Monsters right away.

Reviews are coming to my phone thanks to the algorithm. Seems like it’s going from profound sadness to meh. However, I am still interested because . . . . . MUST SEE MONSTERS MUST PUNCH THINGS!

I wouldn’t trust the reviews. I’ve read a few spoiler free ones and they’re ridiculously stupid.

Godzilla 2014 was criticized for having not enough Godzilla and too much human character building.

KotM is being criticized for Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah having TOO MUCH SCREEN TIME and the human characters not having enough screen time.

So. Fuck em. Humans have never been the focal point of Godzilla. They are just there to pilot the narrative and let us know why Godzilla is wanting to throw down with another Kaiju. It’s pretty much always been that way.

Coincidentally I just watched MovieBob’s review and he was fan-gasming over it.

If you are going to a Godzilla movie and are complaining about human screen time, you are watching the movie wrong.

I plan to watch Kong: Skull Island before jumping into this one.

The movie is called Godzilla: King of the Monsters…not Godzilla and with Wonderful Fantastic Human Friends.

Too bad the Bay Transformer movies didn’t take this movies advice lol.

I mean in almost every Godzilla movie…I really didn’t care about the people unless they were directly trying to fuck with Godzilla.

Pretty much the only Godzilla movie where humans matter in in Final Wars…and that was because they were doing some crazy martial art shit for no particular reason? LOL

They just announced on the local news that all the bridges are opening tomorrow morning. So I get to see Goji and friends tomorrow.

I just saw a prescreening of this movie. I won’t spoil it by giving any plot details but just my opinion.

Summary

I honestly did not like it. It was like they were just rushing to have them fight. The characters were very 1 dimensional (great acting though) and shitty dialogues as if the script was just written with out any edits or revisions.

Maybe some may like it but for me… it’s one of those movies in where the trailer beats the actual movie.

Yep, this is what I’ve been saying.

Some people who give a negative review about Godzilla indicating that the Kaijus have too much screentime are utterly ridiculous. When I watched the horrible Transformers 1 and 2 movie from the dreaded Michael Bay series…I didn’t give two cents about the humans (although Megan Fox just sitting there looking like fresh fine wine was nice) and just wanted to see the drama between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

My biggest issues with 2014 was indeed not enough Godzilla (the Mutos had way more screentime) and when the battle started they would keep cutting off to the stupid human drama which drove me nuts, particularly when we’re at the “4th quarter” of the film.

However if the “neg” reviews says that their is too much Kaiju. Well than 100% I’m going to be hyped for it.

Reviewers that give this movie a bad rep should learn to realize that the movie clearly says “Godzilla.”

It’s not going to be a Multi Oscar Winning Nomination, the star of the movie is not a human being but a gigantic monster city stomping, Kaiju Ass kicking beast that is nearly 400 feet tall and has atomic breath to boot.

I’ve been more anticipated for this movie and I’ll be looking forward to it. Seeing it this Friday night, since all of my friends, including me were too busy to see it tonight.

Btw, someone made a New Godzilla size chart, and apparently 2019 KOTM Godzilla is now the largest (barring if we remove Anime Godzilla whose just ridiculous at over 300+ meters). It’s such an amazing size chart, and I’ve always been a huge fan of size charts in general.

Summary

Reviews straight up lied about “monsters taking up too much run time”. It had all the same issues Godzilla 2014 had but dialed up to 11. Waaaay too much human bullshit and none of it was even remotely interesting.

Like. I was waiting for shit to throw down and it basically didn’t happen until the last 20-30 minutes just like 2014. It even had the same issues from 2014 when it came to the action. Same constant cut away from the action to the humans and bad camera angles.

Also all the trailers severely up played Rodan and Mothra’s involvement. They’re barely fucking in it.

Also the movie did not take into consideration travel time. They were fast traveling all over the place from Bermuda, to Brazil, to the Antarctic ,to Boston and some other locations in the matter of MAYBE a few hours. Absolutely horse shit and took me out of the movie. Like everything apparently happens in the span of 2 days maybe? Bullshit.

The whole movie was a fucking mess.
America just can’t do Godzilla right.

The only cool thing about it was all the Easter eggs they had scattered throughout. Mainly about Mothra. Too bad she barely did shit worth mentioning. Oh. Burning Godzilla was cool too.

The only thing wrong with the film is that it doesn’t have Don Frye.

12 more hours and I’ll be in the theater waiting to see this film!

My feelings at the moment waiting in anticipation.

That last one… I want it now

Just got out of the theater. That was better than the 2014 movie in every single way possible. Plenty of kaiju battles without any bullshit cutaways and teases. The one thing I do find funny about the reviews is them saying that there’s almost no focus on the human characters. They’re in this movie just as much as the last one. They’re just not as boring and are more well written. The battles are pretty brutal. Was fucking amazing.

Are Zhang Ziyi’s characters and her family this 'verses version of the Shobijin? Seems like not only was she a twin, but her mother and grandmother had twins as well.
