IMAX Poster
Dolby Cinema Poster
These posters are amazing
I want to like this movie. I thought the last one was just OK. I’ll wait for my SRK brethren to give me the lowdown.
I hated 2014 Godzilla. Story was horrible, the MUTO’s were bland and boring. The characters were flat. Just a lot of shit wrong with it. Godzilla looked cool as fuck though. I’ve loved him since I was 5 with no stopping that in sight. So I’m excited as fuck
What is a MUTO?
“Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism"
They were the villains in Godzilla 2014.
Their main goal was to ingest chemical/radioactive waste so they could have the energy to fuck.
Godzilla was like “naw”
So Legendary Pictures had a cinematic poster design contest. These are the winners.
Tbh the only one I really like is the 4th one. It actually looks like a Godzilla movie poster. The others just look like bad to semi-decent comic book variant covers.
This video interview (which may contain spoilers don’t watch if that’s a concern for you!) with director Michael Dougherty and of course Ken Watanabe is absolutely incredible.
If you listen to Michael Dougherty through out the interview on how he speaks about Godzilla, what Godzilla really means to him and how it affected his childhood, life, especially as he’s part Asian.
The lack of Asian flicks living in the US and the influences of Asian movies, and how impactful Godzilla was to him along with even getting even into the philosophical is the very reason why I have such an incredibly positive outlook for King of the Monsters.
If anyone decides to watch the video, they can easily see just how much Michael truly knows about the series and that he’s really a huge fan of Godzilla, and just how important it was for him to actually be creating this movie.
Early reviews for King of the Monsters have been incredibly positive and although we should always hold our breath on this, however when you have a director who is so dedicated to the lore of Godzilla and not just it as a Kaiju but as a living breathing animal that is a part of the natural world within it’s universe, this is what gives me such great hope.
It’s equivalent to how Steven Spielberg once said about creating Jurassic Park 1 in that he didn’t want the dinosaurs to be Movie Monsters, but actual animals with realistic animal characteristics and not just mindless killing machines.
One watch of this interview (including multiple others I saw of Dougherty many months prior to this which already gave me a very positive outtake on KotM) and anyone who had some worries should feel more reassured.
I bought my ticket as soon as it was available and got the best seats in the house (imo) along with my friends and most of us are more anticipated with Godzilla than we are with Avengers.
May is just loaded with great movies that I’m going to go see, Aladdin, John Wick 3, and then the finale in Godzilla King of the Monsters.
One King To Rule Them All!
Funny thing is that I hear the roar in four of the posters
One more look…
Yoooooooooi. No more trailers. OMG. They doin all the forms of godzilla uh?
Not really sure where you’d getting that notion from. It looks like the same Godzilla throughout
I didn’t watch the previous movie because everyone dissed it. But the glowing red form looks like that Era of movies when godzilla was dying in japan
I’ve watched this on loop like 5 times now and it hasn’t stopped being fucking hilarious
