Still feel like it’s going to much into “near future” Pacific Rim territory. That said I do want to see him
On a different note, what’s everyone’s opinion on how the LegendaryGoji design stacks up to the others.
Personally, I like it and put it near the top. But then again, I tend to like the bulkier, shorter necked suits such as KiryuGoji (Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla) or BioGoji (Godzilla vs Biollante), compared to the longer necked, slimmer ones (most late Showa suits, which also came with those stupid big eyes).
If they ever bring in Space Kaiju they could just use the parts from whatever fell with it or some shit to make Mechagodzilla so its not too far fetched, and its not like Nature is just on the planet earth.
On the other hand, I think this emphasizes the theme that nature is a cold, uncaring, fucked up world that we, as humans, have no control over. Forces of nature indeed.
I’d go for a Starship Troopers type of intergalactic creature that devours resources and then launches itself into space to find other worlds suitable for survival. I think this would be a great angle for a modified Ghidora. Comes to the planet as meteor and then slithers around as a serpent eating things and growing. Goes into the ocean and finds Godzilla has a brief fight then scurries away. Starts growing legs and a second head and seeks out more and bigger food resources until finally it becomes the Ghidora we know. Laying eggs to be launched into space but needing one last big meal in the form of Godzilla.
Mothra can be fit into any sequel honestly. Especially if it’s sympathetic somehow to humans. Whatever the case may be the next monster has to interest Godzilla enough to fight.
Maybe we don’t NEED the monster to awaken Godzilla. The humans can too with a nuclear sub. As the movie explained, a sub awakened Godzilla initially in 1954. Humans, out of desperation, awaken Godzilla to fight Ghidorah or whichever space monster. Since Godzilla gives no fucks, he rampages across a country and intersects Ghidorah, who is also rampaging.
eh, we’ll see what Gareth and his team come up with. I think they should keep the story simple and not overly complex. Just like this movie. Very much rooting for Biollante in the 2nd and Ghidorah in a Destroy All Monsters reimagining to close out the series
Well MUTO might have not seemed directly evil however they would have taken over the world and sucked the energy from it in days after that egg sac hatched. Godzilla was natures answer of shutting that shit down.
And yes to whoever asked the question I did get a raging hard on when i saw the nuclear fire breath.
Yup.
You invoke the theme of nothing being scarier than the visible lack of a horror/monster, but you DO know
that you are alone wherever you happen to be.
Or are you? The background animal noises have gone entirely silent, and now it’s only your continued breathing making noise, but you thought you heard something in your left-rear direction… /selfdemonstrating
Take it from someone who knows:
“I was once asked what I thought was the most disquieting thing you could see on the screen and I said, “An open door.””
— Christopher Lee
To sum up, what’s more nerve-wracking?
Generic jump-scares?
Or having to travel through places like this more than you’d like? The answer is pretty obvious, I’d think.
V It’s a .jpg, trust me; I HATE jump-scare .gifs.
Spoiler review (in keeping with SRK tradition). This guy is my favorite youtube reviewer. He’s legitimately funny. How many of you agree with his thoughts?
the way I would do it, is do a retelling of Mothra/Battra. That way Mothra gets to be babyface, and establishes that Godzilla has some much needed air support. Monster Island get’s introduced, and you maybe even throw in glimpses or hints of Rodan and Anguirus (maybe just sounds). No fucking clue how you do twins, but I can’t see them being tiny fairies (or at least not yet), but regular sized sexy asian twins. Then you can explain them as tiny fairies in a later movie. Fans will know, but new people get a surprise.
You end that movie with Godzilla just shooting nuke beams into space in celebration. End credit scene is nuke beams hitting Mars, and busting open a huge underground cavern. Ghidorah is heard within.
3rd movie, Ghidorah comes to earth, sans typical metrosexual aliens (or monkey aliens, although @Epidemic would adore this shocking plot twist), and a fuckton of classic Kaiju unite to take him down. Ghidorah gets outnumbered, and calls for Gigan backup. Gigan and Ghidorah proceed to annihilate every other monster but Godzilla. Mankind unveils Mecha/Cyber Godzilla, and unite to save the day. Godzilla then fucking melts Cyber Godzilla for having the audacity to look in his direction, and rapes the melted robo corpse.

you would think I haven’t put a couple years of thought into this…
Saw it on Saturday…This Movie was Much Better Then I Had Anticipated!!! Anyone who walked into this movie thinking he was going to movie like a “Suit” would be severely disappointed but complete joy and satisfaction would consume them completely.
This movie was Incredible, the roar of Godzilla had Chills running down my spine since I had asked personally for the theater room in which we were watching to have the sound boosted up more then usual. This made for the most spectacular vocal I’ve heard since as many people have said…1993 with Jurassic Parks Tyrannosaurus Rex.
I’m so glad they gave The King Of The Monsters his justice on an American Screen. By far the BEST Godzilla movie & cannot already wait for the Sequel to show up. Just…this time, let’s have him fight someone like King Ghidorah please.
For me personally, 8.5 out of 10 >>>Reasons here [details=Spoiler]My Only two gripes about the movie was it being slightly too slow paced, however it didn’t bother me as much since it felt rather like Jaws with the slow anticipation build until which you were at your breaking point to wanting to see Monster…then BAM! There is Godzilla in all his Epic Glory. Also, the cutting at times was super annoying, like when Godzilla grappled the Muto by throat and it looked as though he was going to deliver a choke slam or whatever and right at that moment they just cut back to humans completely killing the pace. Still in my opinion a bit too much people and not enough Godzilla, honestly if it had around 10-15 more minutes worth of Godzilla it would’ve made it 9 out of 10 for me, and an even better movie overall. Whenever he was on screen…he OWNED THE MOVIE. My complaints are small, so Great Movie nonetheless.[/details]
My own personal enjoyment scenes [details=Spoiler]When they finally showcased Godzilla completely, along with an epic snort to showcase his swagger…I literally almost cried while throwing two fist up into the air to Honor him. That Atomic Breath was AMAZING!!! The slow and steady charge up from tail to back spikes (the sound slowing and steadily getting louder with it made it even more dramatic) and then Godzilla rearing back and unleashing a Shinkuu-Hadouken from the mouth was ridiculous. I burst out cheering and the theater followed right after me with applause and cheers! Beasting the female Muto with a Mouth to Mouth of Atomic Breath was one of the Most Incredible Fatalities ever shown on screen. That Iconic Scream!!![/details]
That must be why there was a bajillion minutes of MUTO in this movie then, right? They had proper build up though and jerked it out from under you several times. You already had MUTOs blowing up shit for half the movie. Might as well had Godzilla fight each of the MUTOs separately before fighting them together at the end…OH WAIT they did almost do that but they cut to all the human stuff every time which totally killed the momentum. It was an HOUR into the movie before Godzilla was even mentioned by anyone. And even then it continued to be the Brody and MUTO show for most of the time with Godzilla as a side character until the end. Point is Godzilla isn’t even the “monster” in this movie. By the end of the film he’s the hero. The MUTOs were the monsters. It would have made more sense for things to be the other way around and show less of the MUTOs until the end. None of what I’m saying stops the final battle in the film from being amazing, and the way Godzilla was actually portrayed in this movie was great, but to me the build up they were going for was just disappointing and anti-climatic. I had already lost all hype by the time the final battle came around. I understand how some people can be hype though because FINALLY it’s a good American version of Godzilla, but shit some of you have gotta see this point of view above as well instead of slamming each post with
disagrees. lol.
Shut the fuck up kid. I was watching Godzilla movies before you were even born. Go sit in the corner you piece of shit.
Godzilla was badass, but the movie was shit. After the father died, the movie went downhill.
Main character had nothing interesting at all. Apart from the father, none of the characters had any charisma. Not even charisma, but any semblance of human emotion! Giant monsters, military everywhere, fighter jets, the whole damn army, and none of the characters showed any fear, let alone emotional shock.
MUTOs eating nukes all the time. Ok, by the 3rd time we get it, they love to eat nukes, but who really cares? It’s not like they got bigger or stronger.
MUTOs rampaging didn’t mean shit - the only reason why they cut to the TV scene in the first Male MUTO vs Godzilla, is just to extend the movie. You’re telling me, that Godzilla, the King of the fucking Monsters, couldn’t tear the male MUTO to shreds when they first met?
Godzilla giving the main character emo eyes when falling down. Seriously, WTF was with that scene.
Biggest sin is not having the Godzilla theme music ANYWHERE in the movie. Zero excuses for that, especially considering they were doing their best to pay homage to older Godzilla movies and Toho Studios
The Jaws homages in the movie are tremendous. From the little shit (like the character names of Brody), to the big shit (not seeing the monster until the later half of the movie, except for fins above water).
To every person who complains they wanted to see more Godzilla…you’ve told the director and studio EXACTLY what they want to hear
Two gripes with the movie is “lots of complaints”
You’re an idiot
MUTO ate nukes for substance. Male need it to mature, female needed it to get preggers and grabbing the warheads was to give the kiddies something to feed on when they hatch. It never was for the purpose of getting stronger.
Male MUTO fled when it knew it couldn’t solo Godzilla. He had pussy waiting and couldn’t afford jobbing to Big G so early in the movie
Godzilla just stared at him. Might I add that Godzilla had a skyscraper fall on him the moment before. It was an expression of pain as oppose to “emo eyes”
