There are websites and youtubers for that where you can get some spoiler free impressions. Hell just hit up Rottentomatoes or IMDB for some reviews that probably won’t have spoilers AND are coming from all sorts of fans/critics.
BTW I’m watching a torrent. I’m not even a fan of Breaking Bad but Bryan Cranston is a damn good actor and he was the only character that I liked and didn’t feel like another cliche. It would be nice to see him as the lead in another flick though. He’s usually a character actor in films (Playing generals, presidents and other authority figures).
And why the fuck do the other monsters look like the Cloverfield Monster?
but Biollante shouldn’t be second, she should be the human’s response when they think Godzilla is getting too out of control.
They make her either to be a monster under there complete control for earth defense(who breaks free, obviously) or a monster to destroy Godzilla that the military has some kind of self-destruct built into.
It would be weird for them to make her when Godzilla hasn’t done anything too out of control or negative to the humans yet.
Destroyah would be a good second, a product of mutation from an experiment gone wrong, or waste disposal in the ocean that gets on some kind of crustacean(which is what Destroyah was, I think, a mutant crustacean, mutated from the bomb that killed the first Godzilla).
I don’t believe Mothra will be a decent “villain” considering that Mothra is not an “evil” creature per say (she is also a “defender of Earth” so to speak) and only came into conflict with Godzilla when he was wrecking shit.
I do agree that if aliens are introduced into the sequels, it may get a little campy. Alien monsters crashing into Earth…that I can dig. But maintaining the same line of “forces of nature” seems to be best.
[details=Spoiler] Big Mama MUTO(I’m never going to not call her that from now on, it’s too perfect) really was done right.
That whimper was fucking spine chilling, really sounded like sadness and distress, like the MUTO were smarter than they looked.
After seeing the movie a second time I tried to look at it in a different light.
If you take the humans out of the equation it’s really just Godzilla being a huge dick to the last survivors of a species, not even just that, two lovers.
He straight up helped murder a family, and extinct a species. The MUTO weren’t even being evil, they only ever attacked humans and Godzilla when they were being attacked and/or threatened. Most of their scenes were them trying to get to food sources, get away from enemies, and just walking through cities to get to either each other or a meal.
Then towards the end it’s even more fucked up, it’s two parents trying to protect their eggs from a predator, and they would have done it too if it wasn’t for the military distracting them and destroying the only hope for their species.
shit is fucked.
Still a bad ass movie though, and will probably be my favorite of the year because it was awesome and I love Godzilla.[/details]
I wouldn’t necessary call the MUTOs villains neither. When you think about it, all they were trying to do was mate and have some babies. Godzilla only wrecked their shit because he was their natural predator. Mothra wouldn’t need to defend the planet. She would just need to defend her turf.
Too many Godzilla fans are bitching about small shit in Godzilla2014. Just be happy that the movie is good and isn’t shit like the first one. People from fucking Toho like it, jeez.
Mothra is a fan favorite, so it’s not hard to see her being included. What I want to know is how they’ll write the whole spiritual angle with the Shobijin.
What I do want to see if they can somehow write in MechaGodzilla. Every series, Showa, Heisei and Millenium has had one. The thing is, MechaG does go against the whole grain of “Kaiju as forces of nature” theme they’ve got going on so he’s a longshot.
On a related note, I hope they do for creative titles and not just adding numbers to the end. Heck, go the Baman route and don’t even use Big G’s name for the sequels. Have one of the movies titled “King of the Monsters” and maybe re-use “Destroy All Monsters” for the final one.
Not really.
Only Showa era mechzilla was from space iirc.
Heisei and Millennium MechaGodzilla were created by humans to combat Godzilla, so he can easily fit in for the 3rd or 4th movie without going against the Force of Nature angle.
