So Daigo attends two tournaments in the US during SFIV’s time and you fail to remember the losses he took at either? What an observant critic!
If we’re using Daigo as the reference point in comparing different continents, you may want to consider Daigo’s opinion too. He said himself in an interview with Shadowloo that Australia, Europe and USA are equal in skill levels except that America has Justin Wong, thus putting America above Europe and Australia.
Uhhh…since this originally a translation thread right, is it okay if I also ask for a second synopsis of another interview done recently? (It consists of Kokujin, Gama no Abura and tokido). Thank you very much.
people hating on justin cuz they jealous hes been dominating 10 years straight at evo. be it mvc2, sf3, sf4, cvs2, he always managed to place at least top 3 in one or more of those games.
Exactly, all “top” us players are relying SO much on luck it’s really funny to see…
And henry cen honda sucks , hard.
Fixed for you.
Fixed for you
Again its funny seeing all the hate come out from people who don’t even know him personally :looney:
Like others have said the hate probably comes from Justin’s dominance of the fighting scene. People see that he’s traveling coast to coast winning majors and they aren’t able to do the same so they vent their frustrations out on Justin and making all these excuses on why he should be hated. You can tell by the comments on eventhubs or those made on streams, that they don’t even know why they hate him.
Not just that but there also seems to be a mob mentality behind it, some people see others hating on him so they join in thinking Justin deserves the hate he gets. :looney:
I have actually heard stories of Justin being very mean to anyone who isn’t asian or something like that. And something like he’s nice to you if you give him french fries.
But yea, I think the main difference between Justin Wong and Daigo is simply that Justin wins every single god damn tournament he enters over here (cept evo) and as for Daigo, he doesn’t dominate as much in Japan. sooooooooo yea. bring down the king.
I would like to ask is there a official statements about EVO 2010 regarding skill level, tiers balance, upsets etc from the top US players - Justin, Ricky, Arturo, Valle etc.

And something like he’s nice to you if you give him french fries.
LOL his opponents should start bribin’ him with a tray of french fries before the match

Not just that but there also seems to be a mob mentality behind it, some people see others hating on him so they join in thinking Justin deserves the hate he gets. :looney:
I think the mob mentality of this is more that JWong just makes a good heel. Personally I have met him before and he is a pretty nice guy, but when he is up on stage he just has this aura that makes people want to root against him or boo him. Not much different than pro wrestling. Hell I think he should embrace it. Evo 2011 he should get Jimmy ‘Mouth of the South’ Hart as his promoter, start insulting the crowd, and knock out one of the judges with a folding chair. Shit would be crazy hype.

I have actually heard stories of Justin being very mean to anyone who isn’t asian or something like that. And something like he’s nice to you if you give him french fries.
I met Justin in real life at Final Round 13 and he was nice to me…despite all the shit talk i gave him on the internet that im sure he was well aware of…lol

Yeah I give Jwong mad props for grinding it out with Rufus instead of counter picking. Which he could have simply done. Ricky going with Chun instead of Rufus… Thats not exactly counter picking since he didn’t try Rufus out first perse.
Uh… picking chun was a counter pick. Just cause he mained Chun first doesn’t mean he didn’t counter pick.
I don’t understand everybody’s negativity towards counter picking. Back in ST days there were matches where people would constantly change their character to counter pick.
Fixed for you.
You obviously have a huge hate-on for American SF players.
-Zero European or Australian SF players made top 8. It was 5 Americans, 1 Korean, 1 Taiwanese, 1 Japanese.
-Henry Cen made Top 8. He might be “sucking hard” in your eyes, but at least he’s doing so on a Golden TE Fightstick.
-Winning and losing on educated guesses is the nature of SF. Count how many guessed uppercuts Daigo, Gamerbee and Infiltration landed in the finals.

But yea, I think the main difference between Justin Wong and Daigo is simply that Justin wins every single god damn tournament he enters over here (cept evo) and as for Daigo, he doesn’t dominate as much in Japan. sooooooooo yea. bring down the king.
Realize though that in Japan, most of their tournaments (especially things like SBO) are single elmination which gives anyone little to no time to adapt to the person’s playstyle. Whereas here and places/tournaments that are double elimination, Daigo gets more than enough time to download whoever he’s fighting. Look at the Luffy/Daigo, SB4 Justin/Daigo matches as references.
Translations were cool, thanks.
Justin got his bad rep mostly because he’s an ugly show boater who is best friends with Marn. People see how Marn is this cocky, childish, unwashed, morbidly obese, homophobic, dog beating gambling addict and automatically assume that Justin is the same because he associates with him heavily.
He might be the nicest guy in the world but the guys who sit at home watching him on streams only get to see him showing off while sporting embarrassing hair cuts and hanging out with scumbags.
When does he show off? Seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him taunt in a game or be a bad sport.
The only instance I can think of is when he said he was Daigo’s peer on one of those EMP vids… and now that he’s distanced himself from EMP then I can’t really think of any time Justin’s been bad mannered. For the record, I like seeing Daigo win against Justin. However, Justin is super cool in my book.

For everyone wondering why people tend not to like Justin Wong:
It’s not because he’s too good, or always winning, or how he plays. It’s because he’s absolutely not the guy you want representing your country. I have a lot of respect for Justin Wong, and I think if I met him, we’d get along fine because from what I’ve seen, he’s a good guy with a solid head on his shoulders. So why not him? He’s not good looking, he’s fat, and he’s not cool. (Doesn’t dress well and that emo hair isn’t too complementing) If he was like Daigo, where he was presentable, and actually has that cool “Takumi from Initial D” presence, I for one think people would like him fine regardless of how he plays or how much he wins.
P.S. I have nothing against fat people or Justin’s choice of style. I’m just saying it the way thousands of others are seeing it but blaming it on him winning or being cocky because it’s politically incorrect to hate/dislike someone for their appearances.
if that is the reason why you guys in usa dont like jwong. you guys are a bunch of shallow dicks then, but i doubt that is the case

He show off when he beat Daigo. he taunt when he beat Mike Ross.
