Please note that this is Marvel. Part of the VS. series. Part of a set of games that have had some of the most unbalanced, lopsided, unfair matchups in all of fighting games. Seriously. Servbot? They put servbot on the last one. you realize this don’t you? i know half of you aren’t old enough to remember when this first came out, but there was not very much bitching and complaining. We didn’t care. IT WAS MAHVEL BABY. Its not fair. Its not supposed to be. That’s the point Capcom is obviously trying to make. Sometimes, a character is overpowered. That doesn’t mean they automatically win. It means you, as a player, have to find a way to win. A way out of no way. THATS HOW HEROS ARE BORN. When the odds are stacked against you (team:hulk, sentinel, Dante), It becomes difficult if you picked a team with low health and low damage. BUT, you have to make a way. Geeze guys, where did all of the complaining come from? We didn’t have this shit in marvel two. What did we do? We found a way. And we won gotdammit. I’ve beat countless sentinels with Servbot. Just depends on how you play him and who you pair him with. Servbot guile? Not so much. servbot DOOM? omg you talking about a hard fucking match. you can’t hit servebot, and he’s all over the place. If you do, he dies, but you just can’t hit him! he doesn’t do damage, but DOOM’S ROCKS! oh the rocks! so many rocks…

Why does this matter? Because playing with an UNDERDOG IS FUN. Capcom knows that. Someone has to be strong. Someone has to be weak. If all the characters were the same They might as well stick DOA sticker on it (ducks). Seriously though, where’s the fun in not watching someone kick an Overpowered Level 3 Xfactor Sentinel’s ass? You can do it. You just can’t do it in here complaing and rubbing each others pussies. Man the fuck up. Get the fuck out of here, and figure something out. Go fight. Stop whining. It wont win you tournaments. No prizes. Wont help you sleep at night. Wont’ help your game at all. Complaining in here wont’ solve your problems. Embracing and overcoming your problems will.

Oh and BTW, there has NEVER been a patch for a vs. game. So don’t expect one. I mean if they bring one, ok whatever, but most of us who understand the vs series understands that the game we have is the game we will have. It won’t change. Sentinel wont’ change. Ever. Even when they ported marvel 2 for xbox it was the Arcade/dreamcast version with the JUGGERNAUT GLITCH in it. So you think capcom cares about OP characters? Get hit by a 8 hit Head Crush from a glitched up juggernaut and let me know what you think. IMHO, I think that Capcom gives a shit what you think about their vs. game. They will focus “balance changes” for SSIV, create a few new characters for Marvel, drop the new Third Strike, and sit back as their old reliable cash cow continues to reap the rewards of forums like this one.

Lol yeah the only way was using the same fucked up characters… what a way! out of 30+ characters only 7 ish were viable… look at the last epic match, clockwork vs neo, clockwork being “better” than Neo couldnt seal the deal, because he chose a “weaker” team…

It matters because BALANCE is a HUUUUGEEEEE deal in REAL games… MVC2 was an exception but just because you folks loved the game so much, you and YOU ALONE kept the game alive for 10 fucking years… (ask japan about MVC2, they probably dont remember that game…). YEAH playing IN MVC2 with underdogs was fun because it was a breath of fresh air… using the other 30 characters that were actually in the game and didnt have a chance vs the top guys…

MVC3 is super balanced… minus sentinel and minus x-factor… dont believe me? check the last stream… how many sentinel teams were out there? better yet just tell me which guys didnt use him… besides Jwong… How many lucky launchers does the sent players land on Jwong?? When he lost in the team tournament that was the clearest case of “he lost to the character NOT THE PLAYER”

Really? says who? yes in the MVC2 era (10 FUCKING YEARS AGO) there was no way to patch a game, only a re-release could do that… (SF3 1st - 2nd and 3rd strike a prime example), but we now live in the best fucking era possible for the game to be patched, the SSF4 era, we ARE going to get a patch, we still dont know if sentinel is going to be fixed or if X-factor is going to get fixed… maybe if people whine enough they will get what they want, i mean, capcom does listen to that… So i hope they do something to sentinel because i would love to see all the “hardcore” sentinel players just drop him because he was “nerfed”

Let’s leave Sentinel alone and play the game guys. I have a list of characters I can’t stand in this game and wished to be patched, but if you read it you would probably call me a scrub, which you could apply to anyone complaining about an unbalanced character in an unbalanced game.

However you must understand that i’m simply trying to prove a point. Even if some of what I said is purely drama, the fact remains that Capcom has stayed true to their tried and true recipe for success. They will NEVER put out a completely balanced game. It impossible. you know how many people they would have to please? The point here is that people are treating marvel like a Street fighter, and its not. The point is that yeah sentinel is strong, yes you are going to face him, and either you can turn your xbox off, cry about it on SRK for the next year waiting for an update, or…yes, that’s right, you can fight. I choose to fight. Most of us do.

you are correct, though… this is a completely different generation of gamers. When Marvel came out, EVERYONE had to go to the ARCADE and spend hours and hours and hours to learn a character. No one even knew about sentinel until days after the release, and then his usefulness wasn’t noticed until much much later. We took the time to learn because we had to. This generation wants to look on SRK for the answer… But maybe that’s just an old man talking :slight_smile:

BTW I didn’t care about the sentinel BS nor know anyone who did because it required a VERY high level of play to utilize it correctly. I’ll be the first to admit, Sentinel was much more technically sound in Marvel two… Hell everyone was. But that’s not to say that this game doesn’t have its place. Its just that, in marvel 2, dealing with the BIG FOUR was unbearable for most other characters. The truth is, many characters just didn’t have the tools to beat anyone in the top tier. This game is different though, everyone has the tools. Everyone is viable. Everyone can beat Everyone. That’s the point of the game and what everyone else is missing. The focus has now been shifted to the player. Yeah you might have a better chance of winning with sentinel. Unless I choose phoenix/ammy. Then you lose. Or you can take your chances with a slightly faster, more mixup oriented character who might have a better chance. You have choices. You have to train yourself to beat him. Everyone does. Its just not as difficult as everyone things. Its not as game breaking as, say AHVB.

Also I didn’t say there wouldn’t be a patch. i just said don’t expect one. Yes Capcom is listening to the community, but everyone needs to remember that they are obligated to do nothing. Any balance changes based on the user base’s speculation (read: bitching) is a favor to them. But remember capcom did extensive testing on their own. Shit Marvel 3 was probably the most tested game ever. So balance changes are complete lol. At least in my eyes they are. Pray for those who cry that this isn’t the case. But i’m treating it like this is the complete version of the game, and that there will be no changes.

As far as the tournament goes, I’m glad Jwong didn’t pick Sentinel. Because the general consensus goes, if you want to win, pick sentinel. No you can’t win them all, jwong. But he want the vast majority of them lol. against a lot of sentinels and without using sentinel. That just goes to show that it doesn’t take sentinel to win. I like that. It was courageous on his behalf to defy the general populace’s ideologies and nearly destroy everyone.

Finally, about the balance issue… I know that as far as balance goes, marvel 2 is the least balance game I’ve ever played. Hands down. But you know what? Maybe that’s why it did so well the whole time. The marvel univers isn’t balanced. Capcom’s universe isn’t balanced. Why should the game be balanced? A little unbalanced-ness may go a long way. I see a lot of people hopping on sent’s nuts. I think these are the same people who hopped on SF4 Sagat’s nuts. and SSIV Guile’s nuts. But just like that, we saw that eventually, people dispurse as they begin to realize that they made a tragic mistake, because 1 they’re not having fun, and 2 they’re getting their ass kicked. I assume it’ll be the same with Sentinel. Once people learn to rush him down, he will only be a big ass paperweight if played like he is played today.

The game is still new. When I said we weren’t bitching, i meant that when the game came out we weren’t bitching. There were other problems. Learning how to OTG correctly, roll timing to get out of OTG infinate resets like guile’s backbreaker/cammys super loop, or just learning to play the game… it took some time. And yeah we (america) love the game. Since when does america fight fair? When has america EVER fought fair? That’s right. Never :smiley:

  1. Cable’s shit was beaten by the God tiers for FREE. Magneto vs. Cable was 8-2 Magnus’s way. Storm vs. Cable was 7-3 Storm’s way. Cable beat Sentinel barely with a 6-4 matchup because Cable was that good at keeping away. But that all changed when Sentinel got Cable in the corner. Then that shit turned to 9-1 Sent’s way real fucking quick. I play Team Scrub in MVC2 so when I play good sentinels, I usually get raped because the corner is such a bad place.

And MSP totally counters Cable, but MSP is probably the best fucking team in the game. Saying that MSP is only good against Cable is false.

  1. If you look at it at a logical perspective, 20 characters in MVC2 are usable in tourneys and have a good to great chance against the top 8. If you add in assist, you got 25+ characters usable in tourneys.

And lol 7 characters? Did you forget about Blackheart, War Machine, Cyclops and Doom which are in tourney winning teams (ala Clockwork, Watts, Team JJ, Matrix, Team Illan)? If you don’t say 20 like I do, at least say 10 (if you count War Machine as Ironman).

Oh and Clockwork is an awesome team and counters Santhrax. Ask the Strider players in this forum. So many tricks to rape Santhrax with.

  2. Well, balance is a big deal because scrubs on Unity make it a big deal for some reason. From what I saw, SRK usually fights through all the broke shit (Why do you think MVC2 got so big here?).

Just because Justin Wong lost to a random launch does not mean that sentinel is broken. Justin fucked up. It happens. Lets not use that as an example. Its scrubby for someone to use that. Another phrase you used in there was LUCKY LAUNCHER. The guy or guys got lucky clearly. It could happen with any character (like all of the characters except Viper).

X-factor complaints make me lol. Just hold back against Sentinel with X-factor. his mix-up sucks imo because of pushblock and if he tries to chip you out, he will lose that battle. why? because X-factor has a time limit!! If you have 3 or 2 characters, wait it out. If you have 1 character but you have the life lead, X-factor to avoid chip and wait it out. He seriously isn’t that bad.

Ummmm… thats all I gotta say.

BTW, The Japanese love broke shit. But MVC2 just wasn’t as popular as Jojo and other broke ass games that never made it to america.

ULTIMATE SCRUBBBB KILLER STRATEGY

1-tron on point. Get level 2 and hit them with trons lunch rush and DHC to Servot’s lunchrush for about 80 hits and about 90% of ANYONE’S life.

2-servbot on point, now, and use doom assist to get inside. Once you’re inside, apply high/low mixups and tron assist for hits, doom assists for major chip.

3-laugh at their frustration (they will be trying to kill servbot, but its really hard. But he just walks forward under almost everything…)

well i’ve gone to two tournaments so far and both times the sentinel was banned from play. the reason, “we want to see skill not just a character.” the other said, “sentinel is just op”

this character is bullshit i’ve been playing this game since launch and i’ve managed to come up with a strat for all the popular characters. really the only thing i can do against a good sentinel player is air dash with zero and get close. the problem is zero has shit for health so if get caught once its over and i have to get the sentinel in 10 combos to kill him with zero or waste my xfactor on one fucking guy.

Yeah, well that’s why it’s a competitive game involving “strategery” instead of a “free win”.

I believe you will shortly enjoy playing against projectile spamming point characters gathering five bars for their Phoenix. That will be even more fun. It turns out that in the first few months alllllll sorts of incredibly “annoying” tactics will annoy you because you don’t know how to beat them yet. Maybe you figure it out in time, maybe not. It’s part of discovering the game.

I didn’t think we needed to be that salty in the first week of figuring the game out.

At some point everyone has that moment where they realize they could be doing so much more with Sentinel on their team. I honestly only use him on my team (Tron Bonne, character, Sentinel) because of that ridiculous assist. I couldn’t care less about learning Sentinel, but Tron Bonne and Sentinel make such a perfect team you’d think it was intentional. Especially since he’s in Tron Bonne’s ending. :expressionless:
