Your choice is a good one. 1-2hours, some days off from the game is a good pace. I have been doing this from the start but my reasons are probably different. Yes I do get pissed when I lose, yes I do sometimes blame lag. But for me is the lack of opponents with good connection. When you are spamming the “X” button 1/2 of the time to find a good connection opponent (mostly european players) you do get tired much quicker.
I am still a bad player mind you, and yes I do want to improve. But 1-2 hours of gameplay per day with occasional breaks till now worked fine. (yes even if I was on a losing streak)
definitely, maybe not as extremem, but definitely. losing matches I KNOW i shouldve won makes me want to throw up in disgust everytime, and almost makes me want to stop playing dan as my main and start with ryu or sagat… NEVER!!!:annoy:
I think that when you progress to a certain point and can’t get past that because you don’t want to grind for an unkown amount of time you get disconnected from a game.
This happened in WoW and its happening to me in SF with the having to guess how to learn how to do links. I really h8 how we need to learn how to do links by guessing and how they shouldn’t exist and shouldn’t be punishable by random srk’s Also a visual indicator would help to learn them as well as counter hits.
I mean how the hell other then pouring hours into training mode with no indication of whether I’m getting better or doing a move 1/60th of a second early or late is there to learn to link moves They should just remove them and make it all a straight combo if they want to keep secret info But i’m biased and sad that I can’t actually do them and ain’t progressing with them as my major barrier.
Even thought about buy a bloody metronome to see if that helps but I already spent 150 on a stick and 35 on the game now to actually play the 'higher levels of game I need to piss away so many more hours
“Giving up Streetfighter” is the name of the thread, yet the OP claims this is about playing it less (I thought giving up means, not playing it anymore?)… Then explains all the problems he has, people give advice or solutions, yet OP claims he isn’t seeking help…
I’m confused, what’s the point of this thread? If you want to vent go else where… seriously.
standard thread from 95% of all 09’ers
i dont even know why they allow these anymore
every 4th thread is “IM DONE WITH SF 4 BECAUSE ______”
-im too crappy
-its too crappy
-im too good
-its too boring
-its too hard
-its too easy
-etc etc
Will there still be 09 hate in 11? Why do people comment on threads that they dont care about? His thread is not harmful, regardless of what the topic says he ask a valid question in the thread if you read the whole post. This is what people are responding to. There are obviously plenty of people that don’t mind chatting in forums about their street fighter obsessions. Why post to complain?
Would this thread be better if it was started by an 07’er with tons of rep about how he has street fighter on the briain?
This seems like the right place for a thread regarding SF4.
Shoryuken > Discussion Groups > Street Fighter IV …why not?
Oh yea, lol that is the most bad rep i’ve seen on this site yet.
the reason i put that as the title is because i knew it would get more attention than
‘thinking of stopping playing for afew days to help me sleep better’
so sorry for the misleading title, but yea if you read the OP fully it shud be pretty obvious im not seeking tips on how to counter SRK spammers, or any other kind of spammer.
If you wanna get good you gotta keep playing, much like anything else. Thinking about strategies is bad? If you lose and you just want to quit rather than think about practicing more and learning from shit, I don’t know if you’ll ever get good.
I think I’m missing the point? You don’t want to play Street Fighter because you don’t want to get good?
I haven’t played in weeks but only because my 360 RROD’d and I had to move and stuff so I haven’t sent it out yet. I was kinda like the OP though, sometimes after a string of losses I would go to bed being all pissed off and keeping myself up at night. I think this break has been good because it’s really made me think about how I was foolishly prioritizing this game over other normal activities. That said I haven’t tried the championship mode yet and I’m looking forward to getting into it.
i totally agree with you, theres no way im gonna quit as its probly one of my fave games of all time, and agree that losing helps you learn more than winning does (i tend to try and latch onto people who beat me consistently so i can practice and things)
im only taking a break for a few days or so so im not constantly thinking about practicing my abilities online.
cheers for not biting my head off tho seems thats all people seem to enjoy doing here is jumping to conclusions and adding their ‘two cents’
I don’t think they mean 09 just because we joined the forums in 2009.
They that because most people joined the forums in 09 because of SF4, and before that, they weren’t playing fighting games and therefore, aren’t used to it and keep talking trash in the forums.
The term really should be SF4ers or something like that. For instance, if JWong joined the forums today, ppl wouldn’t call him a 09er lol
From on-line to the major tourneys this game is about spamming 3 moves, sometimes 4 and usually a single block/combo string being one of them. Ultras, blocks, and throws are mixed in for guessing games and diversity. So learn to deal with it OP.
I haven’t seen anyone here from 89, 91, or 97, there may be though. the only other times street fighter wasn’t just a Madden Football franchise with unba fighting combos/chars/and moves. Though don’t worry Tekken 6 will be out pretty soon and that has been a pretty popular franchise lately
some MORE ass whooping? where was the original ass whooping coming from exactly? reading a post wrong and responding to it also wrong does not constitute an ass whooping.
and im gonna politely decline your offer to be honest. like i said earlier i just take a loss as a learning exp so you wouldnt gain anything from beating me except the bragging rights of beating a nobody at streetfighter. well done you!
Usually its new members they attack most often. Hardc0re is right about the sf4 craze and huge amount of new members though. Before SF4 came out there was a about 200 active members and the highest the forum ever had on at any given time was 800… so yeah… see the difference.
And I’m pretty sure that people would call justin wong an 09er… cause he would be an 09er lol.
Didn’t mean it like that but sure dude. Whatever floats your boat. GL.
I like this place for the most part, but the way people respond to the slightest breach of the SRK etiquette is sad to me. The reasons why some people get bad rep are often very obscure to me. I guess it’s best to just learn what’s kosher :(.
Would I be right if I drew the conclution that you don’t really belong here if you’re not aiming to play Street Fighter on a tournament level, and that posting anything that reveals you lack that ambition is concidered a breach of etiquette?
