Giving up streetfighter

Havent played for a week now , well I did few days ago only 2 matches and turned it off. I think its working, I think this thread kinda helped lol too, im glad and seriously feel good.

Dont think ill give up SF games , its in my blood, but I am letting go of SF4 for, specially this summer I gotta give it a break and need to enjoy the real life , I got plans , go on a vacation , get back in school , get into martial arts and learn to build up my real offense,defence,discipline etc, join a gym. :tup:

I do miss 3rd strike , I really wished it were online psn.

Don’t bother. Getting women to get into fighting games is as good as dead. They all would rather play simple stuff like shooters instead. (Unless said fighter has tv anime in it)

So far, I’ve seen two women who played fighters in my lifetime. My friend’s girlfriend, who I’m not jealous of because she’s ugly (Sorry Jose, but it’s the truth) and someone who say me playing King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 2 in the student lounge.

So there’s your chances, one in a million. Now of course, I’m hearing that King of Fighters is having a simple mode with easier inputs. (Anime + Simplicity = Women gamers) So, I’m going to see if that works out for me.

One of the things I love about fighting games is the pick up and play factor. I don’t have as much time to play games as I used to but I can blow thru the AI in 3rd Strike in about 20-30 minutes and feel satisfied.

If I have some stuff I want/need to practice, I can hit the training mode, do 20-30 minutes there and feel like I accomplished something. You don’t need to play for hours and hours on end, just use your time more effectively.

Yes, this game IS addicting but I think part of being an adult is knowing when to say enough is enough. As has been said here, moderation is the key.

I think SRK is a real home for “some” people, so, when new people join they think we want to take it over or get jelous or something that we will dominate and are in their turf. They eat here , shit here, piss here , get sick here, want love here , want to be popular here, want a life…here.

They got no actual life except forums and video games so they turn nasty and start acting all tough online. They NEED the attention , and if a new member is making a point … they will make sure his point is stupid and negative rep him or just trash talk or team up or BAN him or say his its a old thread or blah or blah.

so they all start talking shit and calling these new members noobs or trolls or other gay names they made up throughout these years lol . I know they are geeks so I dont say much cuz if it were to my face I would have smashed their heads with a modded TE stick.

If a 2000 member made the same post he would not get his shyt fked around with, old members would rather not say anything in his thread but would leave it alone even if it were stupid.

my sis had an obsession with Mahjong for the longest time. and yea she can also get 200+lines on tetris without trying. i struggle at 50. shit game anyway

I used to get consumed by Street Fighter games back in the day, especially Street Fighter Alpha 2! When I got my second apartment back in 1996 and Alpha 2 was out on the Saturn/PS1, my friends would come over and we’d pull an all nighter on the game. We would then go to Family FunTime Arcade in Granada Hills, CA and work the competition over there as well. We lived, ate and drank Street Fighter Alpha 2 to the point of absurdity. What I soon realized was that my social life and my career path began to suffer. I was not dating as much and I had no interest in furthering my education in order to land a high payng job.

For the next 8 years, I remained consumed with competitive fighting games. I would look up the best strats and combos and spend hours perfecting them. I was pretty decent and could hold my own against many players. Then, one day it hit me. I had been wasting my time trying to perfect my skills in competitive fighting games instead of perfecting my life. I found myself working at retail stores and and various customer service jobs (i.e. Bank Teller, game store clerk, Telephone Banker, etc.) ** I was getting paid crap at all the aforementioned jobs. I had wasted the last eight years of my life for what? Owning some guy in a game? That guy I owned probably went on to become successful in the career he chose. ** Many guys I that knew and played back then did get good jobs after they graduated college.

I made a choice one day that changed my life. I decided to go back to school and educate myself. I earned a degree in computer science (programming) and worked my way through various companies as a web/Flash ActionScript developer. I Burned the midnight oil to becaome an expert in the field of web development. I transferred my passion from Street Fighter to web development and programming. For the last five years, I have been a succesful web developer and have a really good paying job. At 34 years of age, my only regret is not having done this 8 years prior. Who knows where I could have been at this point in my life.

My advice to you all is not to let this game take away your future. It almost took mine away. Play this game for fun, but only spend a couple of hours every other day on it. Use your quality time to spend with the people in your lives and your education. Video games are for spare time only.

I dunno how many times I’ve seen posts where certain SRK members talk down about others, and yet that “scrub’s” life is probably far more productive than ‘the guy’ who was owning and talking smack about him, since ‘that guy’ spends a majority of his time playing some game.

I know someone who is almost done with college who’s going to be a dentist. He still plays and can still compete with many people online.

You still have time (Whether it’s big or small) after your done with school to enjoy your hobbies.
