Yeah it doesnt mean anything, but for me, its good practice for the pressure.
What i mean is like Tournamnet vs Casual play. People work differently in terms of thought process, but for me, in tournament play, I am different compared to casuals.
Ranked Matches - You lose, you lose points, you win you get points. Its like man if I lose, i lose points. I need to focus. I choke alot when i play tournaments because I really dont play in much. I played alot of Tekken 5 DR when it first released in dallas. So its not as bad anymore, but I still lack alot of the tournament play and not to let the pressure get to me. Through the online Ranked matches I think it can help people with little or no Tourney experience in that sense.
Which is why when the Championship download comes out, I hope they can change some things as I think ranked matches can have a positive effect for people.
I like the option in player matches to play a wider range of characters aside from Ken, Ryu, or Akuma. Ranking regardless of the game (SF, VF, SC, etc) doesn’t mean a thing in the long run. How well you fair in a long set of matches against a good foe with the only thing on the line being the pride of the players tend to be more meaningful overall. I don’t have very many battle points (about 500 or so) but it doesn’t take much thought to figure out just how meaningless they are when a Ken/ Ryu/ Akuma player that doesn’t play as good as you do will always have more points than you regardless of how well you play.
Of course, this can change if Capcom can ever implement means of including BP penalties for disconnecting, then he’d either stop playing altogether, or his BP will plummet to the bottom of the ranks.
Initially, I thought getting my BP reasonably high (4700+ now) would mean I could get tougher players. This is 50% true, since I’ve slipped back to 4200BP quite a lot, but the other 50% are the BP whores with awful sagats/kens/akumas who drop before they get KO’d.
If any web developers can implement this idea for creating a central database for live/psn droppers, this could be useful for having an up-front list of people to avoid: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=178261
Right now, I’m relying on my own hand-written list of people who have dropped on me before, as adding them to the block list only blocks incoming messages.
I just logged onto PSN to try to play some “player matches”. It took me 15 f’n minutes just to find someone to play. I kept searching quick search and every time I selected someone to play i would get the message “Unable to play”. what does that message mean? Is that other person declining your request to fight?
I usually get that message and “Game is full” message which is pretty self explanitory.
New to this thread but not SRK. I feel you all about the d/c going on. There are times the connection is so shitty that a connection gets dropped. I for one have not d/c from a fight but when I get a match and it pauses every few secs and causes me to just look like I’m just swinging at the air. I tend to just pray for a d/c. LOL!
There have been times i’m pushed the menu button on the PS3 controller but then I feel guilty and just fight.
But I have fought ppl that have d/c on my fights when I was winning and I write them for a rematch. Very rarely do they except.
If anyone here is willing to battle me just add me on PS3. I’ll take on anyone.
