Giving up on Ranked matches

they really need to change it add some sort of penalty. will capcom ever patch this? i dunno how console games work, but if this was on PC, they oughtta patch it. i was wonderin abt that. like certain players, seth, gouken ,etc u guys think they will patch it and make them unplayable if the host chooses to do so? i mean i have a lot of nifty ideas that should be implemented to ensure fairness and stability. wut do u guys think

like i said b4 if bps doesnt get u money or pussy who the fuck cares bout ur online rank lol. is all bout them offline matches anyways thats how ppl will know if ur really good

This is wisdom.

Personally for me, having a reasonably high BP is useful, as long as you set your match req. settings to ‘Same Skill’ or ‘More skilled’ for non-ranked matches, just to make sure you have better chances at match making people who are not scrubs. But again, there’s no guarantee as you may end up someone rubbish who only whores for BPs and disconnects before losing.

I think within the region of 2500 - 4000BP is a good area to stop getting any more, and to concentrate on non-ranked matches.

And yes, being able to place #1 in an offline tournament is a far superior achievement than getting #1 on the online rankings

Btw, if there are any website coders/developers, would anyone be willing to take on this idea for reporting droppers? - http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=178261

cant beat them join them! atleast i did after being dced on 30x or so. Now i just dc on faggot kens and ryus. Ye you heard me. Fck them

I had someone disconnect yesterday…but while he was winning. He won round 1 and in round two, whiffed his Utra; by the time he came back down from the Shinryuken he had disconnected. He still had more health than me o.O

In my eyes, if someone drops on me, then I’ve beat them psychologically, and it’s still a win in my book. Most of the time, I’m better off when they drop anyway, especially when they well before the match is over, because that just saves me time that I could use to find someone else to play. I don’t really care about not getting the points after getting dropped on; I just want to play.

You’re apart of the problem , please dont say your from SRK when you d/c

LOL

So is there any real significance to battle points outside of “bragging rights”. I have found that I play better offline as even with a great connection, there is input lag

well i still play ranked because i read that bp will have effect in championship mode. I have to agree there are people that disconnects on me but i faced really good people online.

Atm i have played over 250 ranked matches and I have gotten about 3-4dcs? But then again I live in europe

Calm down. It’s only a game. Actually, I find it quite amusing when someone quits on me. It makes me feel good that I pissed them off so much during the match that they’d actually quit rather than take the loss.

I’m just a beginner and SF4 is my first experience with online fighting games. My W/L ratio is only about 40% and I haven’t even got 200 bp yet. Point being, I’m not that good yet but I STILL get people in ranked match dc on me all the time whenever I win a round. They are almost always Ken/Akuma players that spam the same moves over and over.

In Player Match I almost never have anyone dc and the quality of competition is much better. I have never dc’d and never will. I’d rather take my beating and learn something, that’s how I get better.

for all Gief realted issue please read the following:

pick up some xbl or psn id’s off of srk.com, i think there’s even a thread where people are posting them up. ur less likely to get a d/c and if u feel weird about hitting up strangers stick “srk” somewhere in the message.

I’ve honestly never been d/c, but I do prefer player matches. I swear that i have only played two or three ranked matches where I didn’t have to fight a Ken player.

This is why I cant wait for the championship edition add-on

Haha, I felt that way at first. Don’t forget it might not always be a ragequit: just a bad connection. My PS3 is teh suck at maintaining a proper wireless connection.

(I know, I know I should go wired but I don’t have a 50 ft. cable and it would look ugly anyway)

hey nataku i feel you. I fought a Sagat today, he pulled the plug on my brothers abel cause he was getting smashed, I play him again and he has a chance to win and i take it, messages me and says the other match wasnt “fair” =(.

PS I think were friended online, we should play some player matches sometime.

This is what PSN and XBL plug puller players need to get stamped into their minds.
