why are are you guys surprised no girls play sf seriously? the tourney scene is not exactly the most appealing environment for a girl.
2-3 hours of practice a day so that she can compete in a tourney full of awkward, smelly dudes - who probably just want her there so that they can have someone to awkwardly gawk at.

I’m a girl…and play SF, Tekken. As a kid played pretty much nothing but SF2 on the SNES, SF3 on the dreamcast, Soul Calibur, Tekken 3 and Dead or Alive.

I don’t think I played many other games bar pokemon as a kid aside fighters XD

I also didn’t realize that people looked at females playing games as odd up until a year or so ago.

Yeah we’re more about just outright seeing who’s the better man one on one. There’s just something about that that is unique for guys I guess. We don’t like asking for directions and try to figure shit out for ourselves first. I guess it’s just in our nature.

Not asking for directions first? I certainly do that as I don’t have time to waste and go around getting lost. Somebody’s going to point me in the right direction.

Well, when I was a kid, I wasn’t the only girl who played fighting games either since me and my cousins all adored them (and pretty much all of my cousins are girls XD), so I always thought it was normal.

I guess it just depends on who you grow up playing games around that can change your opinion.
