Is it true that there are no female SF players? Honestly I haven’t seen a single female gamer who plays fighting games other than Guilty Gear. And each one who did are in it for the cool characters, they weren’t playing competitively. That in mind, do you guys know of any girl gamers who play street fighter? If so, who do they play as/ how good are they. Do you think there is a certain trend for female gamers, when t comes to fighting games?
In Team Fortress 2, around 90% of girls I’ve seen online played exclusively Medic or Soldier. Is it because women are more caring, or the role of the medic is more appealing to females? Regardless, are there any similar themes with female street fighter players?
Its obvious that girl gamers are more likely to play RPGs/MMOs and other strategy games. But if I see a girl on Street Fighter online, I’ll be sure to make my moves on her. Chicks love my Fei Long.
I know one that plays SF and KoFXI, she’s not the best, but she’s intermediate. In SF4 she plays Sakura and in KoF all I remember is her team involves B. Jenet. She got into them from her ex boyfriend who thought he was amazing at them.
What is it that drives girls away from the competitive scene. Street Fighter doesn’t have to be a sausage-fest, they’re obviously intimidated by my dominating personality B)
In all seriousness, for all of Gamespot’s dickwaving and hyping of the apparent New Wave that is chick gamers…there are almost no girl gamers. Sure, there are more girls who have picked up a controller once or twice, but the number of girls who are truly gamers is as low as ever.
I know a couple girls that are pretty serious into games, not competitive but play alot, but more platformers…gta4, wolfensiten, batman, prototype, shit like that. I tried to teach one how to play street fighter…she was not good. funny enough she could do the blanka ultra too…what it is with chicks and picking blanka?
I was going to go to EVO under the assumption I will pull some serious poon at this event. I am disheartened an canceling my plans. I blame you.
In all seriousness I think what there isn’t any more chicks is because there isn’t enough to fucking stick it out. Males hang out with males, and females hang out with females. I not saying we cannot hang out together, BUT the main problem is sometimes we need to settle into our own respective sexes to feel a sense of community at certain times. If there can be at least two or three pioneering women willing to stick it out and thus in turn enlist and perhaps inspire chicks to come on down and have some SF fun. The geeks are beginning to flow in, we just need to switch over to our genre.
My girlfriend kind of enjoys SF games, but she’s getting into Blazblue more. Problem is, I doubt she’ll stick with it, I just feel like not many girls enjoy the 1v1 mentality of many sports/games. For guys, its a masculine thing, wanting to prove yourself better than the other guy. Girls don’t often have that, but I have noticed I know a lot of girls that are into team-based sports. Think about it, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, all sports involving team mentality. I’ve even known girls to play on Halo teams and the like. I know plenty of girls that swim and run track(which is really half-and-half, for one you are racing the clock but you are on a team and relays and shit…), but I don’t know of any girls that are into any sort of 1v1 sports off the top of my head.
Girls like the idea of sticking together I guess and working things out as a group. How many chick flicks are there where there are like a group of 4 chicks who are “bff’s” and shit? Guys tend to work stuff out alone and rely on others less I guess.
