Gief nerfs still rolling in

i dont want to confuse any people but im just fry of freedom not freedom fries if anyone has that name on srk or whatever

iv only added like 2-3 people from here and im sure iv forgotten their names lol

It was Fry of Freedom I was playing, im just saying freedom fries because it sounds better. I played a few sets with you but it was propably a few months after SF4 was released so I don’t blame if you forgot but I have a crazy memory when it comes to remembering screen names. I belive you changed it from something to that.

oh well that was a long time ago lol and i pretty much stopped playing sf4 after a couple months after sf4s release then got back into it like october

im sure u crushed me lol

but lemme guess was the old name untam3dxostrich?

Propably wasn’t a complete crushing if there even was one. Right when SF4 came out I was obsessivley playing Alpha 3 (R.Mika). When I look at how I played early in SF4’s release I can see how sorry I was playing.

I can’t believe he called shizza horrible.

This thread… unbelievably awesome…

i know the feeling hell i couldnt do gief BnB with ex gh lol till i came back from my hiatus and i guess all of a sudden i just understood the game and linkin and footsies and all of that

we all start somewhere

I Dont think sswyu has any idea what hes talking about at this point… How else could he reach some of these conclusions?

Actually Magus plays a really good gief. He simply mains Viper because he thinks Gief is a braindead character.

may be off topic, or may be getting back to the topic, but is the short jump being taken out of ssf4?

nope

How exactly am I reading this wrong?

Use search button , or common sense. this is a topic about possible gief nerfs and their potential effects on him and his matchups.
This is not "I’m a scrub whos been making things up to troll for 7 pages, can someone teach me how to read a tier chart so my lies will seem more convincing to inexperienced players?"
Not to mention most players will disregard any info originating from the eventhubs tierlist.

Ok on that chart let’s take gief vs sagat. So you go to the gief colum on the left and then go to the sagat row on the top and the number there is 3. Now if you go to the sagat colum on the left and the gief row on the top the number is 7. This means that in the match sagat vs gief if the player skill level was the same out of 10 matches sagat would take 7 and gief would take 3 so sagat vs gief is 7-3 according to that chart.

Seriously, look at some of these matchup listings. Dan loses 3-7 to Rufus? Dan beats Rufus. And Abel. And Gouken. And he goes evenish against lots of characters. And they still have Gief winning 7-3 against Cammy, Fei, and Gen? And oh yeah, I’m sure Cammy, used in tournaments as a main or a backup by some of the best SF players in US, is worse than Dhalsim… totally.

Yeah, the Guile Dictator being 7-3 is pretty glaring too. Definitely in Guile’s favor but by no means a 7-3. Same for Dhalsim Guile being 7-3 (say what?!?)- that is a really even match actually, 5-5 IMO.

That list just seems broken.

What about the Seth matchup listed as 8-2? I would think its 7-3 just on the basis of getting a random headbutt in somewhere.

I can’t really argue with it being 8-2. The difference between 8-2 and 7-3 isn’t huge imo, they’re just variations on degrees of lopsidedness. I’m not convinced that Gief-Sagat isn’t 8-2 as well.

Like you said, it might be 8-3, the point is its broken and makes the game look bad. That’s my only point, there is no reason other than poor game design why any matchup has to be lower than 10-4, that MEANS out of 10 games someone will loose 60% of the time at worst no matter what character faces who.

A 10% variation can be lived with as that difference can be made up in skill, etc.

But when the numbers are as high as some as giefs matchups, the concept of skill goes out of the window at a high level and you’re just playing to probability/luck (, which is fine in a game of blackjack, but not SF, especially as the rule isn’t consistent across the board. With the amount of sagat and Akuma players and the painfully tedious seth matchups, it means if they don’t address this in SSF4, its going to be a very bad day for a gief players and I see little evidence which will do that, yes even before the game, after nearly 30 years of playing games, I can make predictions you know. Weather men do it all the time.

The mentioned nerfs will do NOTHING, and so the problem will still exist, to add insult to injury they’ve nerfed gief because he rolls scrubs easily.
Its backwards logic, no other character in the game has as many biased matchups as Gief, yet the 3 most biased matchups he has (lets forget blanks for now) they do little or nothing to change.

And to the douche bag saying I can’t read matchups, I can, I understand perfectly, I just write them different, as americans put the month before the day, which most people in the world think is retarded, it doesn’t make it any less valid.

I’m not making anything up, I know a shit load more about the game than you and have been playing it that long. I read the list perfectly, I just write it differently.
Just as americans write the month before the day. Jump onto GGPO and I’ll beat you 10 nill and post the scores back.
If you want to to talk shit to me put your money where you mouth is.

If I say gief loses to sagat 10-3, you would have to be pretty retarded or a cunt to suggest I don’t understand that he’s losing 7 out of 10 game, or 70% of his games.

Seriously if your life is that bad to make such a big deal, why don’t you end it. Secondly, Events HUbs was not the source, they got it from japan you silly little prick.
given the level of play there is A LOT HIGHER than what it is in europer and the USA (yes its a tough pill for your biased ass to swallow) then I would not dismiss it at all.

Why don’t you ask eventhubs where they got the data from, do you really think they compiled it of their own findings.

Think before you speak and do the world a favour. I love this site, so many of you think you know everything about games and street fighter, yet the most you ever did with it was playing online and make an account on Shoryuken.

Classic :). If you really knew shit you would be doing shit.

They get it from a Japanese website that’s mostly edited by random players, not by good players, which is why you see nonsense like Honda being smack in the middle of the cast even though Mago and Tokido specifically asked a Honda player to be on their team for the Japanese nationals tournament because they know Honda is a good character. And not even Japan’s good players know much about the console characters. Anyway I just thought I’d help clear that up for anyone else reading along, done feeding this dude now.
