just another example Haneyama (CH) vs Aroha (ZA) , 5 rounds only 1 spd , almost all the damage comes from ex hand combos
so learn the high level matchups before u talk

so long as his throw is good, the rest of his stuff can get nerfed without him getting any worse. less damage on EX hand combos is not a big deal at all.
Chun li and Honda rely on jumping to keep Gief out and EX Head Butt and EX SBK to Keep you from crossing them up in wakeup mix ups. Guess what we got??? Ultra 2 will help a lot in those match ups.

It is if you’re character’s a grappler. This isn’t Cammy, Ryu or some other combo character you’re playing with. This is Zangief, the big, slow, powerhouse that has to get in to hurt you and has lots of trouble closing the gap on about half the roster.
If you waste all your ex meter on EX Green Hand combos, you’re not going to have any when your opponent gets away or pushes you away. Gief needs EX green hand to keep from getting zoned hard by the likes of Sagat, Ryu, Dhalsim, Seth, and possibly Juri and Cody.
If you have EX meter to waste on combos that do just about the same damage as a Fierce SPD, then you’re the one playing bad players.

and as ultradavid said in the other thread apparently there has been different builds showcased at other events and the final build hasnt been shown to mr wiz’s knowledge, so there isnt one uniform build to gather our news and reports and frame data from

Besides at this point the big discussion seems to be focused on:
1.the crazy person saying that because exgh deals a little bit less damage, Zangeif is now bottom tier. This is a general enough idea that it can certainly be discussed based on current info. It isnt reliant on any real level of detail.
2.An argument about whether or not zangeif should use his throws or not. Really, thats a vanilla SF4 argument though and has no place in this thread. At this point if sswyu really thinks he has a point he can start a seperate thread… hes shown there are enough people willing to argue the point to make it worth a read.

You don’t need to wait till the game is released to realise that a new aerial super and nerfed normals are not going to do anything but damage the character who already has at least 3 of the hardest matchups in the entire game.
They’ve done NOTHING which is going to change gief’s SETH/SAGAT?AKUMA matchups, which means its pointless maining gief because every scrub picks Sagat and Akuma.
If you don’t have the mentalcapacity to participate, maybe you can just shut up and let the people who do continue, unless of course you’re sucking up for an admin position, in which case do carry on.
Instead of telling us to shut up, why don’t show us all how little you know and tell us based on the changes you have seen, how 3 of the msot biased matchups in the game are going to be more balanced.
The whole point of a sequel is the provide a better balance in the game, so why is it still looking broken for gief against these players as it was in the alst version?

he still has all of his normals as far as i can see off videos and reports, and his aerial ultra can help in those hard matchups…depending on whether blizzard can grab kuma out of his air fireball, but we do know it beats whatever AAs sagat has and will beat seths j hp which helps…
of course the prob wiht that is well we would have to get hit to get the ultra meter filled up and that sucks to have to depend on getting hit in order to even the matchup
anyways just get a secondary if you are still worried about those 3 matchups, hell hawk may have an easier time with them and hes a copy of gief anyways
