How would you be able to combo into a grab ultra??
The theory is that you could fadc out of a aa lariet and jump and hit them with a ultra 2. This is unconfirmed and most likely isn’t in ssf4 but we will need to see.
I was referring to trials for all characters. That’s 10 sets each. A Handful are used for each. And yes I did state what about his changes I have a problem with. If the blog repeatedly states reducing his ability because they felt they didn’t like him it is saying to me that his best reasons to jump will be limited. Which means to me increasing/decreasing all factors dealing with the physics of said motion. If I were riled up, that is what I would be riled about. Which I have stated twice.
I know it is different. But the same way Sagat does, or Ryu does, knock 'em into the air and then follow up. Just like Gas Station said.

Unless you’re talking about his Ultra 1… then I do not know.
That knock up with lariat into U2 was removed. It was stated long ago during early builds of ssf4.
Ok, here is some info I have:
- EX Green hand does 130 dmg
- Far MP does 70 dmg(close MP still do 90dmg), but it seems like it have more priority, it beated almost all Adons and Dudleys moves.
- Far and close MK still do 90 dmg, and it seems like far mk have faster startup
- Jump forward HP and HK does 120 dmg(no other normals have been nerfed AFAIK)
- Trade lariat to EX green hand still works
- Lariat damage is not nefred
- cr mp and cr mk do little more damage, and cr mp is faster and better anti air. It beated Sakuras j.hk almost all the time, sometimes trade(Sakuras j.hk have mutch priority)
- Hes jumps… He dont travel mutch forward when he jump, he is like dont get anywere when he jump forward. But he dont stay in the air for long time, so hes jump is faster now. I honestly think hes jump are better now.
- Hes command throw, dont freak out now:
*LP SPD: 170
*MP + EX SPD: 200
*HP SPD: 230
*EX Atomic Suplex: 240
Remeber: most character got damage nerfs, Kens EX shoryoken does 180 dmg.
Honda got damage nerf on his normals.
Zangief still got the most powerful commands throw in the game(T-Hawk HP SPD do 230, and his LP SPD does 150).
And so on…
It seems to me that we are going to have to approach SSIV as an entirely new and different game than the original IV. If we think of everything as changes to IV, we’ll probably see the bad more than anything else.
However if we consider SSIV a brand-new game, we’ll just note the differences and carry on just as we did with 2, 3, and all the variants. It truly is a matter of perspective.
^^ He felt very right to me when I played him.
Worstgief is right… traitors…
;D I like other char’s too.
I think some of the bite back is that Gief hasn’t been ‘good’ or ‘great’ for the ‘most part’ in the Capcom universes…so seeing chnagges that essentialloy can throw him back into the bowels after finally becoming ‘somewhat’ competitive can be upseting.
In the scheme of things thogh I think Gief’s position won’t really change. The only thing I’m curious about are his match-ups with Sagat/Seth/Ryu. They all ot some level of nerfs and I wonder how it curves the match-ups (I still see them being ahed, but I wonder how much more possible the fights are - especially Sagat).
And stop with the ‘traitors’ talk…they added new characters, we ot to try them out first…before we come back call it a Fighting Game Bachelor Party…

Hi guys, just played Super for 2 days.
Here are my impressions with Gief.
As noted earlier, damage nerfs for command grabs. The above data provided above looks about right.
Crouch LP damage has been toned down to 20. Yes, 20. So your buffer ex hand from cr. lp is going to give you about 150 damage, which isn’t all that bad because you get knockdown off an incredibly insane poke. With the removal of trade dp’s into ultra, he’s going to have an easier time dealing with shotos, and sagats.
His lariat low hit box, as expected has been removed. You can’t randomly throw it out anymore against big characters such as abel (whose sweep got better).
Landing UC 2 is quite difficult unless you’re buffering all the time, but this can get tiring.
The most important thing, and I would like someone to confirm this for me, is that cr. lk feels1 frame slower. This isn’t based off any scientific results, but I was dropping a lot of cr. lk x 3 -> ex hand combos where I normally would not. I suspect my combo timing is off because its changed from 3 frames in vanilla to 4 frames in super. cr. lk gives you +4 so you’re looking at a 1 frame link, which can’t be plinked that easily. I find the lp~lk plink a bit awkward for my fingers. So these nerfs are going to be incredibly difficult to deal with if you’ve been reliant on cr lk x 2 —> hand. I’m still waiting for frame data, so this is just an impression of cr. lk when I toyed around with gief. The damage is still 40 or so which is good.
But the good thing is that the new cast does not present a big threat to gief in my opinion. It’d still be wise to pick up an alternate character to deal with your tricky sagat, ryu, akuma, seth matches etc. Akuma’s loop should be easier to deal with because his hyakki throw got nerfed so you might be able to hit him on the way down if you vertical jump and guess correctly on wakeup.
That’s all for now!
So you’ve kept the power of his throws by nerfing them? And you feel that a weaker Zangief is what everyone wanted?Do you also like crack too much or something?
panic much? stop QQ hes not even a terrible character in super as far as players who actually have the game have reported…
geesh so quick to give up on a character just cuz of a 30 point difference on their spd…
are you forgetting that the entire cast is getting their damage nerfed or are you just dense? Nerfing everyone’s damage and keeping Zangiefs spds intact just because he’s a throw character is not how you balance a game, brah.
fyi, Sagat can still trade into ultra with dp, f. HK, ultra -_- and even if you beat his dp with a jump splash on his wake up, you can’t follow up with a combo because he gets put into the air animation and when he lands, it’s another guessing game.
that sometimes happened in sf4 too especiallu if u used knees to hit the head on most dps such as ryu’s
You are wrong. c.lp still does 40 damage.
Btw c.mp is amazing! Faster startup, recovery, very nice AA.
c.mk is also faster and stronger, so now that it is faster, we can walk with it.
Oooweee dat sounds nice. Im so hype to play this ish!!!
my friend (Gief main) already does that in Vanilla.
Goddamn, he’s gonna spam it to shit now lol
I’m not QQ’ing, i don’t even care about the damage nerf considering it’s across the board, I was just pointing out that the DEV BLOG said they wouln’t change his SPD damage, but still did it anyway, and that they don’t know their own game, so they are not to be trusted.
