About that guy who refuses to review the movie: he’s being childish.
It’s unprofessional enough not to review a major motion picture. It’s leagues below that, bordering being an outright asshole, to make a video about why you’re not reviewing it.
I don’t even blame him for being that way. It’s just how the internet is making some people. It’s his profession to review movies, so why is he going to go out and just be an outright dick about a movie he’s already calling bad before watching? I hope studios refuse his press badge and tell him to fuck right off for this stunt.
@Raz0r no one here disagreed with his statement that geek culture is full of assholes because he’s aboslutely right in fact it’s common sense that any culture/demographic is full of assholes (some more than others say SJWs and KKK clans probabaly have a higher ratio than say homeless shelter volunteers and missionaries) no one has a problem with that, the problem is he is doubling down on his refusal to admit the obvious fact that most people hate the new GB because it looks unfunny and cringey and he’s shifting blame to a large part of his target audience rather than taking responsibility for his product in the market place. So you saying he’s not wrong doesn’t accomplish anything it just makes you look like an idiot babbling for no reason other than to be the contrarian or you feel personally offended for him as if you’re the the one getting shit for GB and you’re smart enough to know all this yet you still said what you did so again what was your point?
And about James Rolfe you’re calling a guy who reviews movies purely for fun unprofessional because he decided to vote with his wallet and not contribute to the box office sales of a film he’s not interested in, you’re the guy who said kickstarter creators are not beholden to their backers in any way, shape, or form, yet when one guy refuses to see a movie he’s suddenly being unprofessional as if he has some obligation to his fans to see it especially when he’s not even getting paid for it either way. If anyone is being a dick I think everyone here would agree it would be you for saying someone on the internet has to spend their money on what you say they do.
Finally both Dab00g and White Shadow two posters who to put it mildly are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum of intelligence have both agreed with Po in saying fuck that guy while you click disagree…just marinate on that for a minute.
If he wants to review movies for fun, fine. Did he really have to make a video about him NOT reviewing a movie and why? That’s an asshole if I ever saw one. Don’t want to watch and review? Fine. You really have to announce it like the attention-seeking waste of space you are? Well, prepare to be called on it. That’s where the unprofessionalism kicks in and if you’re too dumb to see that well that’s on you.
People were hating this movie even before trailers came out: it started when they announced the cast. The proof is right here in this very thread just go to page 1. On Twitter, post in Ghostbusters in the search bar and scroll back a year or two. Before any trailers came out, people already made up their minds that this movie was going to be unfunny. With that in mind, how could you trust their opinions on the trailers?
Its a no win situation though. If he said he whats to take a pass on reviewing the movie, people are going to ask him why. Which then means he has to make the video explaining why since he works mainly on youtube. So either way he ends up here.
Never liked the content though so i’ll keep not giving a shit.
I do believe it was because his fanbase kept asking him about his opinions about the new GB movie. Hence why he made that video.
I respect his stance. If a movie looks and sounds like absolute garbage, why even bother seeing it and support the mouthbreathers who made it?
It’s like reviewers who refused to play Star Wars Battlefront as to not support EA’s practices. It’s a totally valid reason not to purchase the game, so why give them shit for it?
Because it’s fucking trash, and no amount of pegging yourself with your internet devils advocate badge will make it less trash.
You make a point on knowing it would not be funny as if the cast’s established track record does anything to dispute that fact.
It’s in the same bucket as Tyler Perry movies and the chain of horror spoof comedies in terms of quality.
The biased agenda of the former head of Sony wanting more “Fem-centric” hero/heroines at the cost of quality is bullshit and heads are already rolling due to pushing that agenda.
Whats worse the absolute bullshit they pulled to get this movie made, strong arming Ivan Reittman, and the former cast with underhanded deals and threats of legal action.
(comes back to 17 new posts…caused by people falling for Raz0r’s trolling
Sigh. I’m all for Devil’s Advocate if done “professionally”, but this isn’t it. )
Just because they’re fans doesn’t mean that they were fit for the movie. If the reports of coercion and other bullshit that Sony’s movie department pulled are true, however, which they probably are, then along with the obvious problems with the script pretty much no actors could save this. So I suppose that’s additional reason not to blame them. Still, fuck Leslie Jones on principle given how bad her “acting” in general seems to be if that’s the only character she can ever play.
Meh. At this point, if we’re going to talk about horrible movies, then I’m still far more interested in learning what you thought of Gods of Egypt, @Hecatom. Did you ever actually get around to seeing it?
Whenever you don’t like what I say you always say I’m playing devil’s advocate, yet you add zero to any conservation you’ve tried to make yourself a part of. How about you go fucking kill yourself?
With all this sjw bullshit, and a ramis/akroyd script already existing, with the video game acting as a guide, and all this backlash the female one is causing.
We could get an apology true reboot and a love letter to the og
