::bows down:: not worthy. appreciates the info masaka. lllll knowings half the battle, now all lllll has to do is …do it during gameplay, ::off to training mode::.
thats just rumor theres only one move thats even worth canceling and there havnt been any names droped or footage ofthis master slayer player, all the slayer matches iv seen from there were very basic…
I couldn’t care less about the “tier list”, wanna know why? becuase they are based off who wins the most tourneys. ( correct me if I’m wrong) Basically it’s a bit of a popularity contest if you ask me.
With that said, GGX2 has got to be the most balanced 2d fighter there is, with only a few characters with advantages over others.
Here are the characters I think are the thoughest to face
Potemkin: this fucker has alot of power and def, it’s like fighting a fortress, real good Pot players are a real challenge.
Slayer: has gotta be the most under-appreciated character in the game, he’s got incredible power and do the sickest mind games.
Sol: anime incarnation of the creator of the game, he’s got alot of advantages over other characters and FRC pretty much all of his moves, he also has alot of priority.
Dizzy: great traps and real damaging combos and a great wake up game using the Necro super
Baiken: I’ve come to know her as the anti everyone. Using her blocking counters she can rape Kys and destory most wake up games.
know what? each character has his or her strength, but in the end it’s all pretty balanced, sure there maybe one one or two characters that shine or have an easier time defeating others, but in the end it’s my firm belief that GG is seriously balanced.
hmm in a sense i agree with u and in a sense i dont…due to the fact that the “balance” if u will, is unbalanced by slayer. he deals out wayy too much damage and i belive he’s the most over powered char in the game.
i guess this is sammy’s way of saying take power over mobility, cuz slayer has like no mobility i mean he’s not as free roaming as alot of the other chars cept potemkin cuz well, he’s a big swoll ass mofo:lol: but i do think slayer kinda unbalances the game but then again at the same time he doesnt bcuz chars like sol can take the damage from him while baiken, chipp, millia, jam etc etc cant even entertain the thought of gettin hit once into an RC combo from slayer.
as for tiers, in all honesty i think the tiers still stand where they were since pretty much the beginning till now b4 all this slayer crap came along. but in all honesty every1 can pretty much fight every1 problem is others have to work harder than others, but if the player takes the time to learn their chars ins n outs then using that char to the fullest shouldnt be a prob. also when i say knowing ins n outs i mean learning matchups, wut has priority etc etc.
now, when u take these factors into consideration it can be said that pretty much n e1 can fight n e1 in this game.
Oh yeah? Anyone can beat Anyone?
Tell me. How can May beat Baiken? The only thing that’s been moderately effective is throws, but as we all should know, May cannot throw people very well. I think it’s nigh impossible.
Priority my ass! Chipps C.HS and J.HS has “too” much priority on them. Freakn’ C.HS even counters ground attacks on regular basis for free. You can’t even stick a move out or you’ll just get counter hit and launched into the air.
You don’t play Eddie do you
Shin_Kensou: Would you say Slayer it “that” bad? Eddie, Faust and Millia are all pretty damn cheap in their own right.
Aww, don’t call them cheap
It took me like forever to get the hang of Eddie :(. Couldn’t you at least replace “cheap” for “in the right hands”.
Nope, just cheap. Eddie isn’t an easy character, but he’s still cheap And my favorite character
OOL BALLL
I there! I’ve been here for a looong time but I never got a chance to post much so this is like my first time, but I must agree that GGXX is one of the more balanced fighting games out there. However it still does have its rough spots.
This is a matter of what I’ve seen so please feel free to bash what I say if you’d like to.
Sol: Considering he is Daisuke himself I guess that allows him to be a little cheap, but Sol still is pretty cool. Primarily because of his high priority attacks (FRC Gunflame, Air Dust and his 6P). These are only a few of his great moves. But his Dust Loop is nothing to fear as much anymore. Since in #R it can do only 3 to 4 reps. (I think) But his awesome set of normals is what people should fear.
Ky: Has great range, his HS Hard Edge can be FRC and he has some good combo abilities but thats about it. When it comes to other people he just isn’t spectacular. His Sacred Edge is fast and two of them can be connected from a sweep but Ride the Lightning is only effective as a counter or if your opponent really screws up.
May: Sadly not that good. but I bet there is at least one good May user out there (and if there is please tell me because I would really like to hear the tactics ) But otherwise she dishes out damage but is too slow and can’t combo that well.
Johnny: My favorite character (and ID can vouch for me ) is IMO one of the better characters but in no ways the best. He has extremely damaging combos and Ensignia covers almost the entire screen. His standing HS is as fast as ever. While he no longer has the mist trap (thank god! :lame: ) he also doesn’t have a good 2HS anymore. His new one is a little lagging. One the whole he has an above average set of normals. He can FRC his divine edge which can move him around quickly if neede and opens up some awesome combo setups.
Chipp: Much better in XX and has a much better combo game. But he still has some of the same problems as in X. He has to do long combos or many qucick short ones to be effective. I’m not saying he’s bad or anything as I have seen some really awesome Chipp players, just against people like Sol and other power houses its an uphill battle.
Axl: Now this is something cool to see. He used to be only mid-teir in X (or as far as I knew ) now is one impressive fighter. With a new slew of counters and one of the greatest long distance games in the game he is crazy. His moves also deal out good damage.
Millia: She is not the combohouse she used to be, but in the right hands she can still deal hits out quickly. Her ring trap is still there, but not in full effect since she might need to FRC a bit but she does not need to rely on it as much to win (not like she ever did to begin with). Only downside, not an unlimited number of knives but she doesn’t really need them. However in #R she has been somewhat tonned down, but this does not mean in any way she is weak.
Eddie: One of the best characters in the game IMO. With his rushdown game still in full swing he is still a monster. Plus with the addition of being able to FRC Invite Hell, he can hit you from all the way accross the screen, FRC, dash up and get a rushdown game on you. But in #R he can’t FRC Invite Hell anymore so he certainly isn’t as good there. But he has a good anti air game with 6P, 6HS and 2HS and with his Drill Special being hard to block he is one of the best in XX.
Venom: Hard to use and a little unorthodox, but in the hands of a good player one of the scariest things to see. Pool balls flying all over the place can really be a problem since he can throw them out even faster now (god those Taiwanese Venom users are nuts! :p). He has somewhat good normals and a good sweep, but nothing else too great to his game.
Jam: Fast and deadly. With her new super she can tiddle your lifebar down to nothing if she has a charged kick. Her speed allows her to play a good mixup game as well as some rushdown too.
Anji: The butterfly trap is nice and good for pressure but pretty much usless. Simply because an experienced player can get out of the trap without a hitch. He’s a little bit on the sluggish side and his autoguard is not what it used to be. But his 63214 S overdrive is a nice touch to his defensive game.
Baiken: Good, very good. Her autoguard counter can stop opponents in their tracks and her command grab makes for a good pressure game. Since she can FRC her Air Dust and her tatami she can create some nasty combos as we’ve porbably all seen. But now in #R she can’t FRC her tatami. Still she is a force to be messed with.
Potemkin: In the right hands Potemkin is one of your worst nightmares. Big, scary, full of power and having massive range he is pure strength. On top of that now that he can cancel his Hammerfall it almost acts like a dash. If you don’t belive that Potemkin can be fast check out this site: ttp://www10.org1.com/~challeng/ (add the h if you don’t know the drill by now  )
Faust: Great in X, now almost god. Tragic’s Faust scared me and the Japanese Faust players are just as bad if not worse. Possesing great range and his awesome pressure move of his 236p he is hard to beat. He can fly at you and hit you quckly dealing out good damage. Thank god his infinity in #R is not good.
Testament: Another improvement over the last game. His 214HS and his 214S work as great wake ups and the fact that his 41236S can be FRC also is nice. But the best thing about Testament now is his new combos. With longer combos relying around his 214P he doesn’t need to rely on his 236P or K anymore. Also an aircombo involving his Air Dust, a 214P RC’ed into another 214P gives really good damage.
Dizzy: Having lost her almighty air S and her ablility to tripple jump has caused Dizzy users to change their tactics but in most ways for the better. Her in air 214P is nice for a lockdown and her air dust deals a nice 2 hits. But what makes her really good now is not her speed but her combos. On top of that her 236HS can be FRC do make the combo even longer. My friend who I had the opportunity to face his Dizzy was quite good and was able to deal massive combos out quickly.
Slayer: People have mixed feelings about him but IMO he’s one of the better characters, his :lame: infinity is only an added plus if you want to be stupid enough to use it. Slayer can deal out damage quickly and in nice combos that don’t need much of a setup. A 214S then K into his 236236HS overdrive does good damage and is untechable.
Bridget: Really good, just really good. Having the ability to hit you at any angle plus having an awesome sweep for Rodger setups is another great thing. His 632146HS overdrive does massive damage, leaves great combo opportunities and acts as a protection. On top of all that he has really good combos even without Rodger and his overdrives.
I-No: One of my favorite characters is also on the harder side of usability. But once you get her FRC timings down she is also good. With the combination of her 63214P flying low and a dash in HS or Dust makes one hell of a pressure game. Her only problem is that without her FRCs she is hard to use to her full potential.
Zappa: So fun to use, but also the hardest in IMO to use properly. When you use Zappa you have 5 different characters to master. But once he’s got RAO he’s insane. Having range that reaches accross the screen and one of the best overdrives in the game he is awesome. And a few RCs can get RAO out in a matter of seconds. On top of that his size can be a good advantage since he can just run under projectiles and other attacks. In short Zappa in the hands of an expert is deadly.
So here are my teirs (in no order):
Top: Eddie, Faust, Millia, Axl, Sol and Bridget
High Mid: Johnny, I-No, Dizzy, Baiken, Venom, Testament
Low Mid: Ky, I-No, Slayer, Potemkin, Jam, Chipp
Low: Zappa, May, Anji
Thanks for listening to my babble, but there is one point I wanted to make. Any character can be good if used properly, and there are only a few exceptions of some characters being truly worse than others. Thanks again and please feel free to respond.
how is slayer lower middle and u say nothng but good things about him…? i ma tad confused.
That’s a good question and I’ll be happy to answer it. Its not that he’s bad but if you stack him up next to lets say Sol or Dizzy and even someone like Testament there is just more you can do with those who I’ve put above him ( this is not including the infinite). He just might (that means possibly not certainly) have a harder time against those above him. But if you use the infinity he’s god (but you’re also :lame: ) I know it is a bit confusing, sorry about that. And remember, there are no orders for each level and on top of that, this is just my own stupid opinion.
ok really now Slayer is above every one but millia and faust,i would say eddie but he is so predictable now hes easy to get past.Slayer has this huge advantage that if you fuck up once or get tricked once its 100%.Sol gets killed by him hella hard he cant even use VV,cause if he whiffs 100% just like that.Slayer has invincible moves all of them, invibile air throws, huge combos, characters like ky and sol just cant compete, the only person who gives him a hard time is millia ,maybe faust
zappa is the best character. think about it.
i heard in this topic that bridget is top tier, i usually don’t give a damn about it but it is kind of strange that almost all my fave. char. are top tier (bridget, jonny, axl ) my other favorites are sol, baiken, and may.
Yeah Sol does VV ALL the time.
: /
well, sol shouldn’t even use VV as a stand alone move, but rather only on wake up (to stop stuff like eddie traps) or when he’s comboing into it
his kick is a better anti-air
oh really?
please tell me how his standing punch is invincible or s or any of his normals? -_-
potemkin is a stupidly hard matchup for him and venom is also a hard matchup
slayer’s alot of things . . . mobile isn’t one of them
I was being sarcastic.
