GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

you can test in training mode if you want to. i also used to think slide head trips the opponent no matter what, so i wanted to be able to do perfect unblockables… but slide head won’t trip the opponent if they’re still in block stun from gigantor.

you need specific spacing and timing to make this happen, but i’ve done it multiple times.

so the only logical explanation is that there needs to be at least a single frame between when the opponent recovers from giganter block stun and when the “hitbox” for slidehead activates.

Some vids of me playing some friends last friday, some feedback would help fellas. Been learning anji and wanted to get good with him.

If it’s spacing, you could just be connecting with the tip of Potemkin’s head instead of the earthquake.

you can also do a very situational 2HS setup on certain characters. if they block it really high, heavenly will hit them while they’re in guard stun.

no, his head doesn’t need to touch.

by “spacing”, i meant more like be at a distance where gigantor would touch the opponent as late as possible so potemkin can do slide head as early as possible.

actually, heavenly potemkin buster can’t connect with opponent in block stun either. the odds of happening in actual match is very slim anyway, but the hpb will just whiff if the opponent turns out to be in blockstun when the hitboxes cross.

i don’t know if opponent would remain in block stun in you do 2h > hpb. but if it connects, then the opponent is out of block stun.

You sir, have earned my applause for that one. Witty, it was good work there. Quite nice, quite nice.

Ryujin: IMO the match versus Ky is the best, not just because you won but because you were aggressive enough… not that Anji is some kind of crazy rushdown character or whatever, but against Testament you’re pretty much giving him the space he wants (maybe because you’re afraid of getting hit by back XE Beast?) by default rather than sitting at about midrange and trying to get in (which is a tall order and IMO Testament is definitely hard for Anji so it makes sense).

Against Slayer, obviously what you’re doing works but if you have trouble in the future you might try waiting until he has enough tension to be a threat to turtle. The damage Slayer gets for hitting you is always going to be a ton so you want to do really safe, conservative blockstrings, but you can definitely get away with them if you’re not doing something that has giant gaping holes where he can try to backdash, 2P or dandy step. For example, after blocking mach punch I’m seeing you jump back a lot, but Anji can react with 5P->2D – I think that’s actually free if you instant block the mach punch, and if he dandy steps he can’t punish the whiffed 5P. He might be able to 2P under it since Anji’s 5P doesn’t hit vs. crouching, in which case I think 5K->2D is still safe.

That 5P trick is actually really important though because it beats Slayer’s 2H, which can give you a lot of trouble; it’ll CH hardslash Fuujin (you’re probably aware of this, because I don’t see you H Fuujin against Slayer much) and all kinds of shit. But that actually makes it risky to try, because if you guess right you’ll knock him down and it’s not something he can easily punish for gigantic damage with some other option. Not that anything is ever completely safe against Slayer, but yeah.

You’ve definitely got the right idea, I think you just need a little more practice since you flub combos and pressure every once in a while and you could learn better ways to capitalize on some situations (like after a dust, you might as well do a guaranteed combo instead of an airthrow reset). You might try to resist the temptation to end so many blocked strings in Fuujin also, but I know firsthand how tempting that is, lol.

Explain…and when you do, try not to ride the japs nuts, deal?

Thank you, sir and thanks for the rep, Jesus beam.

yeah except i totally just did it, while a person what in FDB guard stun literally 5 seconds ago, in AC. its not a throw its an unblockable move. i never said it was at all useful just that the property exists :]

i just triple checked, the best way to tell is to do 2HS, and have the enemy do an instant FD on it at the very tip of their jump on who it works (like slayer), you’ll notice they’re still in guardstun till they reach almost the very bottom of their jump, however if you do heavenly, it will catch them half way down. the reason it normally doesnt work is the knockback from 2HS is so large it looks like they are in range when you try to grab them when they are not at all, it pushes them a few pixels out of heavenly range generally as the super is starting up. this is why it only works on FAT characters.

yea sorry orka your wrong on both accounts. You can combo to air potemkin buster, and the slide head. However there are certain exceptions to this, say order sol does not follow the same properties in some situtions.

Ok I just need a little advice, should I just completely give up on johnny as my main seeing as how he is being rated as shit tier or should I stick to, tiers dont mean shit its how you play the character that will determine the outcome? It really sucks to see that one of the coolest characters has fallen from grace so hard. I wouldnt even know who to pick up as a main anymore since there really isnt any character in the game that is as cool as johnny to me except maybe slayer.

Please, DON’T PLAY SLAYER! Johnny can still be a beast, check out Bleed’s AC vids. He goes to work. If you really wan’t to try someone else, I’d suggest Faust. I don’t know why, but that’s what I got out of your post lol.

You can drop Johnny, but I don’t see any other character that can Mist Cancel.

Order Sol. lolol~

He’ll be able to Moonwalk in the next game.

Using tiers as an excuse to drop Johnny is stupid. He still has opportunities for great damage and good pokes, DC scrubs out with him all day and managed to OCV in SBO. The difference between tiers is small in AC, every character can dominate, some easier than others.

Dude Johnny is awesome He does a crap ton of damage and has very good pressure. No matter what tier he is or has been, he has always been hard to play. Plus please don’t pick Slayer. Have you not seen the number of new people in this thread that have said that they wanted to pick Slayer/Testament.:wasted:

If you pick another character, and they become low tier in the next game.
Your gonna have to go to the dentist, after kicking yourself in the teeth.
If you like Johnny the most, just keep using him.

That’s a quality in Guilty Gear I really appreciate.

That made me lol…irl

Play I-no. Cause lord knows no one else is. j/k j/k,… don’t play my girl
