When a character blocks a move standing or crouching, their hitbox will stay like that for the next hit even if they switch guard while they are in block stun. So if you do any move (such as baiken’s j.K) which they block high, but then they block low which normally would avoid some high attack (such as Baiken’s j.D), their hitbox will still be as if they were standing, and the move will connect.

Question for everyone: Is the potential there for americans to become better at Accent Core than the japanese? I mean like this is the first game where two major consoles have it(Wii and PS2) around the same time. Pretty much everyone has access to it. America is also giagantic compared to Japan and we may have the advantage of seeing more styles of play for each character.
the sol fuzzy guard unblockable was doing the tk’d dp or some shit nd it crossed up inside their hitbox when they were getting up after a knockdown, I had always heard it refered to as a true unblockable. There was a video of it… people were saying miu was doing that shit. But like I said I don’t really know much about it I’m too late into the game. that’s the problem. we are too big and spread out. outside of small playgroups the only time you get a lot of good people together is during tournaments and such.

People make way too big of a deal out of fuzzy guard. As long as you’re blocking right, it shouldn’t matter.
Team Shittalk took third place over one of the two Japanese teams, when it was expected that both Japanese teams were both going to smash their way to first and second. While I doubt America will ever be better than Japan at Guilty Gear, the potential seems to be there for players to step up and compete against the Japanese.
I’m starting to wonder if Flash’s second place at Evo was somewhat of a fluke, given the results of recent American tournaments. Not saying his team’s players were bad (because they’re not), but the results of recent American tournaments have me in doubt. If AC is at Evo 2k8, that’ll be the year to prove that top American players can compete with Japanese players.
Not to pick on you but I really don’t get why people say this. Top Japanese players hit each other with supposedly stupid shit all the time (Millia roll->throw, Ky force break->throw, dusts etc) and you never hear people go “God, Ogawa needs to learn how to block” or wtf ever. The whole point of offense is that it’s hard to know when to escape and hard to block accordingly, but for some reason when Americans go for reversal throw at a bad time or get hit by dust it’s not just an incorrect guess, it’s some kind of cardinal sin.
I’m sure you didn’t mean anything by it since your crew is one of the more confident/open-mided GG scenes, but it reminds me of all of these people who have such a giant inferiority complex about the Japanese I wonder why they play.
