AC Sol Badguy 101 guide

Since some people here were asking for a Sol guide, I have my guide almost completed. For beginners this should be really helpful. Only things left are combos and gameplay.

Man it’s so hard to win in this game with Dizzy. I wish she had a win button.

as a general strategy, dizzy just needs to run away more in this game.

she actually has her own share of bullshit in this game (mainly from double fish), but it’s true some matches are really tough… i could make another big post about why she is overall weaker in this game, like i did in the old accent core thread, but i’m at work right now so maybe later.

she’s still much better off than some like anji and johnny.

at least there’s no more stun edge rape.

If I’m Testament, and I’m getting locked down/rushed down pretty hard, is there anything I should be doing? I know about the overall tactics of looking for a moment in the string to FD/IB/SB, IAD away, counter poke, etc… but I’m looking for specific Testament tactics vs. rushdown.

Does anyone have a good outline on how to use I-NO? dustloop has soem stuff in frcs and combos but nothing for the newbies.

First of all I-no isn’t for newbies. Now that that’s out of the way here are some vids that might ease you into playing I-no:

  1. Get a knockdown.

  2. Mix them the fuck up with hoverdash. 66, j.K vs landing with 2K or throw is gonna be your main mix-up, but then you can start doing shit like 66, j.K, land, 2K vs 66, j.K, j.D (o snap), whatever. She can do better shit with bar, but those are good basics.

  3. If they eat it, combo the shit out of them. If not, mix-up by doing ground strings into frame traps or just re-dashing.

She’s one of those characters where you need to stay on the offensive. Doesn’t really have good answers to anything once they get you blocking. Should you get forced to fight from a distance, try to control space with notes and horizontal Chem Loves, and if you force them to block something run back in for more goofy mix-ups. Biggest thing you should work on as an I-no player is execution, so you can fuck up someone’s day whenever they guess wrong. That’s how she wins matches IMO, and it’s a bit harder in AC since she got toned down a lot.

You have to be specific about which character is rushing you down. Testament doesn’t have an AA, and the closest thing he has is his counter ( :qcb: k, I think). There’s 2H, but there would have to be a considerable gap in the opponent’s string to use it. Anything else is situational.

Me and my scrub Testament are always willing to take a trade with Nightmare Circle. I guess trading with Front EXE Beast is ok too. But other then that, I like to use the time blocking to think about how I could of zone’d them out better.

are there any other character pics with the same style? :o

dammit, zappa still has that thing where he cant release all 3 of the ghost while in the corner :arazz:

i try and do it, but there’s always that one that never goes, this has been a problem forever.

Could be worse. It could be Slash where Sol kills you in literally five uppercuts.

Sadly, I have none. :frowning:

I just felt like complaining, no need to write up how to play with her. I’ve seen enough videos to see how I’m supposed to play with her. Now I just have to start reading threads to get a better understanding of what I’m doing and why certain things don’t work. It just sucks to work so hard to win. Most of it’s my fault for screwing up on my execution. I’ll never blame Dizzy haha.

Dumb Sol questions that I can’t find answers to on dustloop because its not organized and im frustrated:

-Are there any other set-ups to sidewinder loop other than command throw, or a bandit revolver RC? Also, on the bandit revolver RC, is the correct input for most characters k, s, sidewinder? Or is it just s, sidewinder?

-When the loop gets going, do I just jump again normally and hope to meet them? I never feel like its possible for me to intersect with the opponent most of the time. Is there somethign more complicated going on in the execution of the loop?

-HOW THE HELL do you do the sick bandit revolver combos that maniac AI sol pulls off? He has like a 16 hit double bandit revolver combo that appears to be reset with a 5K, but that never works for me. I’ve also gotten stuck in a corner bandit revolver pseudo-loop for like 22 hits by the AC AI. Can anyone tell me what exactly is going on?

Thanks in advance if anyone can answer any of this =\

Back to training >.<.

3 Q’s

1.) A friend told me Venom has a corner trap, true or false?
2.) Last command of HOS’s Tyrant Rave?
3.) Is it stupid for Ky to FRC a 236+S? It seems so late that it isn’t necacarry.

  1. Yes
  2. I assume you mean his Dragon Install. Last set of inputs is: 632146H
  3. It is not stupid.

I’ll bite.

Any launch is a Sidewinder loop setup. All you have to do is get them airborne and get level with them, then do a Sidewinder. Some easy examples include VV RC, any GF FRC combo, etc. As far as Bandit Revolver RC, I usually just straight Sidewinder after RCing.

All height dependent, higher opponents you jump up and hit them, lower means you have to do a ground move first, then JC and meet them.

Air Bandit Revolver. The end.

So you TK the bandit revolvers? Mind humoring me with a transcript of the combo?

Right now I’m trying:

2d, BR, 5k, TK-BR

and it aint workin.

I think it goes something like 2Don’t XX Bother.

TK BR combos are okay off a throw or maybe if you get perfect spacing while doing jump mash jP anti-airs, but at midscreen you could probably just go into a Sidewinder loop most times when you could go for a TK BR combo.

It’s entirely situational as to what normals you’re sticking in before a TK BR, in any case. K XX TK BR only works if they’re like right next to you (and slightly above, in juggles), for instance… and that’s assuming you’re doing it early in a combo, since it gets progressively less feasible to add TK BRs to a combo as it goes on.

Maybe like corner throw, K(1 hit) XX TK BR into whatever can be useful (can get a short Sidewinder combo off it) but I wouldn’t worry about doing the CPU’s awful TK BR combos.
