When I do I-no’s 5D, hold up to follow them then do d,u + j.HS before the dust screen appears to cancel it, that is a jump install? or a jump cancel?
So the 5S launches after the 6P if you follow it up with a super jump cancel? How is doing this better than just doing 6P, 5HS then jump to finish the combo?
none of that adds up, since j.s shouldn’t have that long of a hit stun… do you have teching set? for reference, whenever the “beat” counter turns dark it means your combo is techable.
also, your second part of combo doesn’t make sense either since j.s cannot be canceled into j.d. only move that can be cancelled into j.d is j.k, and only move that can be cancelled from j.s is j.h.
with millia, there are variety of combos available out there… but there are couple of general things to keep in mind:
try to incorporate as many j.h (or j.s > j.h sequences) as possible for damage maximization.
make sure to get a knockdown.
if you’re struggling with the concept, just start with the easiest “legit” combo out there… which is: gatling > 2h > j.k > j.d > air dash > j.k > j.d > air dash > j.d
The 5H may not hit depending on height, and the 5S ALWAYS will, so it’s more consistant. Your damage is going to come from the dives/CL’s you do if you have meter anyway, and you’ll still score a solid 40-50% on an anti-air combo and get a corner knockdown in the process, therefore you want to take consistancy over a slightly higher damage normal earlier in the combo. You also don’t have to do a SJC to finish the combo necessarily, you can also just do a regular j.S, j.H, then dive. It all depends on the height you hit them at (hopefully they were deep so you blew through the attack at the last second), and the character.
Also, 5H takes a little longer to come out than close S, so someone can reaction burst your 5H because they twitched from getting AA’d. Due to the nature of the combo, if they burst when you do close S, you can recover completely and block, then punish them big time with a similar combo or better, depending on your execution (5K JI -> HCL FRC airdash combos).
i want to make baiken my other main but have no exp on playing her in an offensive manner. I know just by looking that her defensive capabilites are top notch but I can never capitailize on a counter hit.
Doesn’t 2P hit mid? I don’t know (cuz I’m a total Testament newb), but wouldn’t either a low or a high work better to start a combo? Cuz it forces them to choose either/or, not both.
Eddie’s 2K doesn’t hit low in AC. Strange change, but if you’re familiar with Eddie you’ll realize that if it DID hit low, a lot of his mixup options would become even more universal and retardo.
It gives +3 though, and is a good move to use to combo into far or close drill on CH (omg cheap).
