GGX2 Faust Combos

** GGX2 Faust. no love for the bagman?**

wassup all…

hardly any GGX2 threads so i’ll start one.This is for the most famous doctor with a bag on his head…

B&B combo

c.K(2 hits), S, HS, qcf S, ender

you can end this combo with many things depending on where your character is on screen or their weight. I usually end it with the flower(S after qcf S) or HS(after qcf S, only in corner or against bigger characters)

general strats;

throw shit. s. S has amazing range and can be canceled into a random projectile(meteor, baby faust, donut, etc.)

high jump, qcf P, dash, down + k is good pressure tactics. just be weary of wake up moves

abuse his s. S-great range

starting combos w/ c. K greatly reduces damge because of “damage buffering”…for higher damage i would suggest S, HS, qcf S, FF…this combo takes more life off the opponent than starting a combo w/ c. K

use his teleport to get out of the corner when being pressured.

c. k or down + HS can be used as anti-airs for the most part

these are general strats for faust players. I’m not that great myself, but am trying to get better. I’ll post more if I actually get replies.

i’ve got nothing but love for old dr. baldy (first char i picked up in GGX)

my favored combo with him is: K, S, HS, Pogo, Roman Cancel, K, j.K, j.K, S, HS

(you can either do a blue or red Roman here, but blue is prefered)

other things to remember that its always good to have an item in play, because it keeps your opponent off-base

also, “Love” is great, if funny, move
and I like using “See, I’m a Flower!” too

im just figgin glad they made this version better than the one in ggx…

i’m trying new things out with him in the corner, trying to extend juggles

pogo twice in the corner does pretty good damage but so does pogi, HS

i found that you dont exactly have to roman cancel after the pogo…try canceling it out after one hit by hitting down twice then a c. K s. HS

haven’t really tried it all out yet but as soon as i do i’ll post my findings…if the thred is still alive…hehe

oh, BTW who else do you play sides Faust?

Faust is too good.
Instant air bomb is too good.
S.k is too good.
Any s.s is too good.
Pogo/ GoingMyWay FRC is too fucking good.
…f+P is great under the circumstances.

Is there a way to combo into a super and not scale it to hell?

faust’s scalpel super is a bit too random for my tastes

faust gets guaranteed damage by saving his tension for RCs and FRCs

Im a huge faust fan now, I just learned him last week and im already good with him, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how you can fully abuse his impale move with the air knock up follow up. After you knock them up in the air, whats the best thing to do? Should you jsut use the air chop or should you do a going my way or is there something else that works better from any of your personal experiences?

Stick to the air chop, since it grounds instantly.
Personally, there’s very little use for the impale, since the damage it does nowadays is pretty meager.
I have to experiment with his j.dust later.

I’ve came up with a combo for Faust, not sure how good it is.

In the corner do a HCB +HS then into a c.K (3 Hits if possible) into a HS. If you did it right, they should be in the air, although sometimes (for reasons I don’t understand), they’ll sometimes fall shortly after the HS. Immediately do an S and snap into Pogo, then do a GOING MY WAY. If you time it right, you can FRC out of the GOING MY WAY and go into an air GOING MY WAY.

going my way RC going my way is pretty sweet. does good damage in the corner

Finally theres some Faust combos on gc!!! :smiley: i was wondering when it would be updated.awesome! now all i gotta do is learn the numeric system so it becomes 2nd nature, like sf commands…

just remember starting a combo w/ c. K scales the damage by too much… i’ve found that using s. S as a poke move, and if it hits, combo into HS scalpel does moderate damage…

but honestly, i just use the super randomly right before an opponent is within striking distance. it catches them off guard more than you would think… this works against humans better than the computer of course… just dont use it too much

IMO, being random is one of Fausts advantages. he has so many attacks, make sure to utilize them all…

yeah,but i heard that Faust has no good wakeup move,so basically people stay close to him and waits for him to stand to rush him as hell, and gladly is best wakeup move IS his scalpel super. Dont quote me on this thought i may be wrong,and if i am,just tell me his other wakeup moves.

the thing about faust is that his best options when the other guy is down is either:

  1. throw out an item
  2. hit them with Ai (the head bomb)

and guys, don’t forget that f.HS, it is an overhead afterall

The downfall of the wake-up scalpel super is that the scalpel super screams “KILL ME” when it’s blocked. So if Faust is down and his opponent baits him, Faust will be parting with a large chunk of lifebar.

Oh and f+HS can be buffered into special moves. So if they are down from afar (or you far away) f+HS xx qcb+HS (or item throw) leaves Faust fairly safe.

can’t you rc the scalpel, or burst while being attacked, or dead angle…

theres many options…random supers shouldn’t be a priority tho…i’ll hardly ever random scalpel super nowadays…to risky…people are getting better and better all the time…(arcades)

i still think faust best moves are poking with s. S…too much range…if connected, combo into double or triple pogos = too much damage

thx to this thread and gamecombos i actually went at my arcade last sunday and whooped everyone,ruined a Sol player,he surely spent at least 6$ only on me,he told me Faust his cheap,I told him he was a wuss,and he was.

Comments: S.Slash into qcf+p his highly abusive,but S.Slash alone is abusive,best combo in corner is:

C.K + S.HS+pogo stick(qcf+s) then HS(Going my way) then roman cancel into another Going my Way (qcf+HS in midair).

This combo was posted on gamecombos,works perfectly,also,instead of roman cancelling you could False roman cancel (b+p+k),which would leave you with 25% more gauge. Since it was the first time i actually used him (played him in GGX though) I couldnt FRC but,with pratice i suppose anyone could get the hang of it.

C.K or C.S are anti-air, his d+K in the air can be canceled in a going my way…

thats about it,Faust’s insane range really cant be stopped with good mind games.

Just a small question, you guys dont use stupid #'s for directional inputs do you? I hope you dont cuz I dont like that gamecombos.com Guilty Gear X2 site! Why would anyone make it hard for some people to read directional inputs via numbers? lol :lame:

Its a good site and all, but using #'s for directional inputs just doest help!

Maybe because it’s easier to do than d,df,f all the time? It’s really not that hard to look at your number pad.
