People made a big deal when trying to get capcom to use ggpo for sf4 and ssf4. Guess what, those games didn’t have ggpo and sold a ton. What does this thread hold over Capcom that would force them to use ggpo on future titles? Absolutely nothing. I honestly don’t even know why we’re begging for ggpo if we’re just going to buy the game anyway. Capcom knows this, everyone else knows this deep inside, so why fool yourselves into thinking you have any say in what they decide to do?
It always ends the same way: “Oh well they didn’t have it this time… maybe next time!”
Sad deluded thread. Also kudos to Capcom for already announcing dlc characters. The sand in our faces are delicious.
You guys don’t even know if GGPO would benefit MvC3 in any way. No one does. How many of you even know anything about GGPO aside from seeing other people say it’s the best?
This discussion was had a while ago related to SF4. The conclusion was GGPO taxes the hardware to much to implement in a game already gobbling up resources. They already have net play with their own in house engine (MT Framework, which is what MvC3 uses), so why would they bother to cough up the dough to license GGPO for MT when you’re going to buy it anyway?
GGPO is great on CPS2 games and older games in general but it has yet to be tested on anything contemporary or graphics intensive. I’m sure the the networking end of MvC3 will be fine. Asking for GGPO when you don’t know anything about the game as it is right now or how GGPO works is just stupid.
GGPO doesn’t tax a system, that was the public answer why it wasn’t in SF4.
GGPO utilizes the best system for fighters online (prediction instead of delayed inputs).
SF4’s online is terrible.
If you’re going to make an opinion, make sure its properly informed.
It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
Maybe nothing ever changes, but I can pretty much guarantee you that Seth going to XXX and saying “These were/are the major points of feedback so far from the community…” is WAY more effective than Seth saying “I personally feel that…”
^-- spoken as a software developer who has done that (and related community outreach) for a long while now
Did you mean that was in the public answer? Because saying “GGPO is not at all taxing to the system and accordingly would be simple to implement” is not an answer.
I’ve gotta say I’m with Tebbo on this one. If it really was as easy to implement as people seem to think, they’d be using it. And I also recall them saying (far more recently than SF4’s release) that GGPO’s technology would not work as well in their graphics intensive game.
They either have an actual reason, or they just plain aren’t going to use someone else’s netplay in their own game, and would rather improve MT’s netplay than implement someone else’s.
I really don’t have my hopes up for MvC3’s netplay. Especially on PS3. I’m expecting it to be just like SSF4, if not a tiny, tiny bit improved.
You have my vote but at this point in time I’m sure it most likely won’t happen. It’s sad since we’re going to 2011 and we can’t have a quality netcode to enjoy the game.
Also you guys should really support ggpo in capcom unity’s suggestion box. They check that a lot. I remember a few months back I made a thread in the ask capcom section requesting ggpo for mvc3, sfxT, sf3OE…Sven said he doesn’t see that many posts in the thread to support GGPO.
When I kept asking him why japanese titles dont use ggpo, he answered with another question, “What is the difference with titles that use ggpo (or similar netcode) and the ones that don’t”
Take that as you will. I’m not sure if he was hinting it’s japan’s fault or if it’s a 2D vs 3D thing but it doesn’t hurt to post at least once in support of ggpo.
