Getting to the Jaguar sleep over: Adon Combo Thread (OP Updated: 05-05-10)

Alright , Got this to combo just now on Sagat gonna test on other characters and update , jump in fierce or HK, stfierce , ground jaguar kick .260-280 damage , im positive you could combo cr.lp after the JK aswell.not tried yet tho.

last night i was doing overhead - s.lp xx RJ(lk or ex), and jump in HP or HK - U2 is pretty easy. even got it off of j.mk in the corner.

I just said this on the other page. and everyone it can hit. atleast with lk jaguar kick.

New discovery though @Soft reset: the mk jaguar kick is hitting some characters the lk didn’t work on.

And also APPARENTLY cross up medium kick, standing hardpunch, into medium jaguar kicks worked on ryu.

that was surprizing. Going to test everyone that got a no on my list.

I was randomly looking through some of my boy Lupasan’s videos and i came a across Adon doing Jag kick(lk?), c.LK, LK RJ. :12 - :15 [media=youtube]9QP4qjnfLJU"[/media]

Thats an aerial JK. It connects but its perferable if you do Mk or Hk. Mk though because it does just a wee bit more damage.

For Ultra 2 to hit you have to wait for a split second and let their body drop a bit, then Ultra 2 will hit. At least from what I experienced it works like that.

I’ve been using a standing :hk: after a link to c.:mp: to catch a counter hit

Cross up :mk:, c.:lp:, c.:lp:, c.:mp: then standing round house

cross-up j.mk, cr.lp/cr.lk , cr.lp/cr.lk, LK RJ feels hella sketchy on Seth. I could only get it very few times. I know its not the best combo but i just wanted to throw it out there.

I’ve been playing with a few things in the lab with some results all over the place. First is neutral j.mk instant overhead -> EX Air Jaguar kick. In what seems like a theme with Adon’s combos, it’s VERY character specific…

Characters it didn’t work on – Basically, if the character’s head is below Adon’s, forget about it. They seem to recover too quickly. This includes:
Ryu, Ken, Honda, Ibuki, Makoto, Akuma, Dan, Sakura, Dhalsim, Cammy, Blanka, Fei Long, Rose and T.Hawk for some reason.

If the character has a wider hitbox or a similar height to Adon, it will connect for a 2 hit overhead splat knockdown. 245 damage, 300 stun.
This works on: Seth, Gouken, Abel, Viper, Bison, Sagat, Deejay, Cody, Guy, Hakan, Guile, Rufus, Vega, Balrog and of course Adon.

However some characters only get hit by one hit of the ex air jag kick and don’t get knocked down. This provides a bit more time than the regular air jaguar kick that allows you to land a close s.mp or s.mk, which can be canceled into ex rising jaguar (or vanilla if you want).
j.mk -> ex.air jag kick -> s.mk -> rising jaguar (347 damage, 444 stun) - seems to work on:
Gen, Dudley, El Fuerte, Vega & Juri.

I imagine you could land j.mk, ex air jag kick, s.mk, lk.rising jaguar xx fadc ultra 2 as well for big damage, but that’s all theory-craft right now as my hands are failing me at 4am.

Also, the ground version of the EX Jag kick against a jumping enemy has some follow-up potential as well:
ex.jaguar kick (hit once in air) -> lk.rising jaguar - 130 damage, 160 stun.
ex.jaguar kick (hit once in air) -> walk fwd half a step, s.hk - 160 damage, 190 stun.
ex.jaguar kick (hit twice) -> lk. rising jaguar - 200 damage, 270 stun.
corner: ex.jaguar kick (hit once in air) -> ex. rising jaguar - 240 damage, 310 stun.

Adon’s focus attack:
I’m also trying to work Adon’s focus attack into my game a lot more. Mostly to try and land a crumple in the corner to ex jaguar tooth into U2 instead of just throwing out the ex tooth in the hope I’ll connect. I started looking for ways to use the focus attack and noticed it sometimes dodges low attacks. After some testing, I found that for the most part, with proper spacing Adon can focus attack hop over most character’s c.lps. It seems like it works with almost everyone if your spacing is right except for Chun Li, Abel, Cody, Zangief, Vega(with the claw), Dhalsim and T.Hawk (mostly characters with fat hands). Those characters jabs seem to hit Adon out of his focus attack mid-air.

Finally, I’ve also been toying with j.hk -> s.hp -> fadc focus attack, dash forward into throw or rising jaguar. Burns through 2 bars, but because of how fast Adon’s dash is, it seems to come out of nowhere and catches a lot of people unaware --at least currently. While not a combo, it does 375 damage and 610 stun.

Ok…just tested this out. i mean its NEVER going to happen as far as I can see. But the bounce end of jaguar varied assualt, the neutral one. If your oppnent is jumping, and for some oddd reason, only the last hit, makes contact, you’re able to do like a jaguar rising to hit with mk or ex (lk JR only hits for one.) Its pretty pointless but at least we know something now.

btw I did Jaguar varied assualt from FULL SCREEN, with the opponent jumping right when Adon jumps and puts his elbow and knee together, so when it connects the opponent is a little higher than usual and thus being able to do the RJ right after. I hope this starts something, i’ll be testing more things out.

To the first poster:

Why clutter the thread with so many combos that most players won’t use? Why not just list the best and most damaging combo for every situation?

And those would be?..according to who now?..and we’re barely (looks at watch) a week in?..

How about I just list all available info and then allow people to decide on what works for them? At least until multiple sources can agree on a BnB (which right now is: “do anything leading to RJ”, which is the majority of the OP…so close your eyes, throw a dart at the list and try it). When it is obvious something more…standard, is a BnB I’ll make sure to bold/highlight/whatever so people don’t have to experiment/read.

Just to be clear: this thread isn’t one man’s opinion on how you should play, I started it so it can be a repository of everyone’s information.

Speaking of. This is a busy weekend, but I’ll get everyone’s info up on the OP and update by Monday. Keep the info pouring in. :slight_smile:

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate all the work you’ve put into this but there are certain ones that are obviously not useful. Here are some that you posted for example:

I just can’t think of a reason why anyone would use combo 1 or 2 instead of combo 3? You could have just listed the 3rd one unless you can think of a reason anyone would want to do less damage?

Sometimes if I use HK rising jaguar i’ll miss a few of the hits because it’s so vertical

I’ve actually had someone hit me with a focus attack between the two knee hits

Thats my bnb i use right there. second bnb Mostly use j. hp s:hp xx h.rj for opponents that like to crouch block.
