Getting lost in the beat: Dee Jay Video Thread (front page updated 1/16/12)

because of you my friend thinks Deejay beats guile.

Lol. I tested him and for whatever reason he couldn’t anti-air me so I abused it and put on the pressure.

lol yeah, he didn’t seem to have confidence in flashkick or cr. fierce. that shxt works against deejay. atleast it worked against me online.

  1. You missed AAs when you were charged. IDK what happened there but that shit hurts and he get’s a knockdown.
  2. Combos were missed but personaly, I put Cody in the vortex. His wakeup game is really bad.
  3. After knockdowns, your jumpins were too predictable. And the main reason was because you jump to early. You don’t want Cody to know which side that you are gonna land. Abuse his wakeup game
  4. Your block strings were predictable. You need to put some st.mk and cr.mp in the mix. I could tell he was mashing. Everytime you dropped a combo or attempted a throw, he was cr.jabbing. I saw a bunch of counter hits on both sides of the screen so obviously you were mashing too
  5. Cody has one of the best FA in the game. Respect it.
  6. Also respect Cody’s space. All of his moves are +10 on block.

Hi Da Knut, thanks for taking time to review the vid.

  1. yeah can’t believe the anoint of charged aas missed and didn’t use any normal aas either. Went into training yesterday and seems that s.mp and s.hp are great vs him
2.yeah he has no real wake up options and I never exploited that.
  1. Ok jump later. I follow your replays so I’m going to look how late you jump for the crossover.
  2. Ok, when I do A block strings it’s either tick throw or clp clp clk lsobat or frame trap by delaying second clp. You say I should mix it up by hitting cmp or smk. What is the benefit of doing this is he is going to block anyways? Theyll catch his jabs right? Yes at times I was trying to hit him with a clp but that did more damage than good and I realised that right after the game.
  3. Got it. He hurt me alot with it.
  4. Got it. So just let him do his thing and wait for a throw to tech? (don’t fall for frame traps)

Tot be honest, after the match I realised I should just space him better and if he is in a block string just don’t press buttons and wait for him to get out of range or tech a throw. With that in mind, I played him in a friendly right after and beat him.

Thanks for the advice!

Truth be

matches at 11:00, 1:28:00, then there’s more on part 2.
first time playing on stream, got to get rid of the nerves i could have played more solid.

Guys, why did they make Deejays back dash so ass? Would he be OP if his dash was normally decent?

they probably thought his wakeup was good, even though if you stay on the ground he has no wakeup.
He’s a zoning character and they want you to keep people out or die.
Backdash is the easiest way out so i guess they want us to think our way out.

Most of you already know how I feel about this matchup. I still think this is his worst (Yun is pretty close).

Yeah Fei can get in that ass pretty easily. That jab and those pokes, son. I noticed that most characters I have problems with ARE the characters with beast jabs…you have to be so careful on your spaceing its dumb.

That also might be a reason why I dont see many DJ players in japan. On another note: Anybody agree that the second hit of sobats should armor break?

i just don’t get why rush down characters get command grabs. i know their slow, but they’re still command grabs.

as for the matchups i think makoto might be up on deejay’s bad matchup list.

I’m starting to dislike this game. A bunch of characters got buffs but still not viable in major tournies. The most important things for an AE character is…
1.A good reversal/escape option
2.being able to put opponents in 50/50 or 33/66 situations
3.Safe pressure
4.command throw
5.being able to get high damage of of a crouch tech or crouch jab

That’s how the game is made. Sorry guys, DeeJay ain’t built for this shit. And Makoto is stupid

You’re right for the most part.

I thought DeeJay was B tier, but i’m going to have to fully agree with the arcadia character ranking list.

Just like in Super he could beat some of the top tier, but not enough of it.

LOL capcom buffed him, but kept him in the same spot.

I don’t feel the same as u guys right now. I like deejays matchups vs the cast outside of yun yang fei and makoto (maybe viper too) and while these matches can be stupid they’re actually not that bad for deejay. Lately I’ve been bodying people I used to go even with for free and I’ve been beating people that used to beat me. I feel like if you played through the complete ass that was deejay in super, how can you drop him now that’s he’s so legit.

Amen brother. While I’m not pro…I played a decent Rose and I switched to DJ at the end of super and I feel he’s just fine…with the switch to DJ I feel like a play a way more complete character. And with the buffs I feel like like there’s alot of tools at my disposal…I might not use them…but it’s better that not having them at all.

I’m not going to drop him. I beat G3RM4N LUG3R today and he beat me pretty badly in super. don’t know what it was though.

i’m also not saying they’re bad. i’m just saying its really stupid. i’d rather play a bad matchup than a stupid one.

I hear you but since AE release, I’ve noticed the matchups I play the most in tournies. Fei, twins, gief, viper, makoto etc. Most of the other characters don’t matter so much because many players left them alone and ran to the top tiers. The top 5 is in another league from the rest of the cast. The last tourney I played in I got 5th out of 50+, got sent to losers by a Fei and put out by a Yun. I was mad as hell at the Yun match because I clearly out played him, still lost, and I remember a few months ago in Super… dude couldn’t beat me. I fight these players online who give me problems now, they didn’t before AE.

I dunno, I have fun playing Dee Jay, and I still do fairly well in all my locals. If it’s a Yun or a Gief, I just pick Fei, who I learned as the kinda counter to all the nonsense. Works out pretty well for me.

PSN action:

pikotan525 (whom, to my knowledge is an online only player) against Akame Ryu (the #1 BP Ryu in arcades… Ultimate Master)

spDeeJay (whom, again, is unknown to me)

A lot more to come. These guys seem to blow up a LOT of the top arcade players that play on PSN… Subscribe for more.

Good shit right there Hav. I really liked the use of the jumping Knee shot from both of these players. I find that the more I use it the more it helps me to win matches.
