Probably, unless there’s another vid being discussed and your post gets overlooked. Happens.
sure. And if you want to we could play some games on xbox live, and I’ll help you out vice versa. I play a little Hawk but I main DJ.
I don’t have a stick or Super yet for the 360, but I should have them in a week or two. Ordering them on Friday/Saturday.
Rose can be a bitch when you try to fight her in sweep range. But you can’t really sit back and throw AS either, cause it’ll just make her stronger.
Fortunately, most online Rose players have 1 important weakness: they all love to spam cr. mp (that quick purple swipe). If you set up the correct timing / spacing, you can tag her cr mp with a light sobat pretty easily. The best ranges are:
- Right after you do a block string that pushes you out a little bit. For example, if you knock her down, do crossup mk -> cr. jab -> cr. jab -> cr. jab -> cr. mk. Right after she blocks all of that, she almost always presses cr. mp. But you want your light sobat to already be in motion when she presses that button. So just throw it out there right after she blocks your cr. mk. Even if she blocks the sobat, she can’t really punish from that range.
- Right after you block her soul spiral. First of all, don’t try to punish soul spiral. Most Rose players are smart enough now to know the correct spacing. They want you to block and try to punish so they can counter hit you with cr. mp. However, if you do a light sobat right after blocking her SS, and she happens to press cr. mp, you’ll win that one.
As Jcool said, never back away from her after a knockdown. Stay on her ass with crossups, block-strings and light sobats. However, once i’ve beaten her up enough to give her ultra, i lay off the crossups until she activates. Find a way to make her waste her orbs, then get right back on top of her.
Another good option after a block-string is instant knee shot. She’ll usually be in the middle of a counter-poke attempt and you’ll land right on top of her. Even if she’s not attacking, it’s too quick for her to cr. fierce.
Also, for some reason i find it very difficult to cr. RH slide under Rose’s fireballs. They seem to have a much bigger hitbox than meets the eye. If you decide to jump over one, and she’s getting close to you, either empty jump or knee shot. This can cause her cr. fierce to whiff if you space it right (giving you a free throw). This tactic can also work against Guile’s cr. fierce.
watch out for Guys slide, some Guys use the slide as bait for a reversal then they counter with EX spinkick.
also, going air to air with Guy is a bad idea imo, unless you can tell if he command jumped or not, as its throw range is retarded.
the first i didn’t know and the second i know. i was in autopilot lol
Went to a local tourney tonight, a weekly thing i go to often. they just started streaming, so a few matches of mine got recorded.
Beware that they skip a bit. I’ll see about recording with a camera next time.

Please help, I could really use it. Thanks
EDIT: Videos have been removed due to people not wanting me to post videos anymore.
Alright. Some advice from me:
Implement knee shot into your game. It’s really helpful when you don’t know how to get in on your opponent or as a mixup tool. It’s somewhat awkward to use at first, but when you get used to it, you will love it.
Stop walking back. Stand your ground and don’t corner yourself by walking back. You would even walk back sometimes when you cornered your opponent, which is where you want them. Go for DJs knockdown game and keep the pressure on em. If you get stuffed don’t get scared. Practice your jumpin timings and you will be the one scaring your opponent.
Anti airs. There were several situations where you could have hit your opponents jumpins with a lk jackknife but you blocked instead. Don’t let that opening slip away. It’s damage plus a knockdown which leads into setups. You should also practice those normal AAs.
And don’t taunt after landing EX MGU into EX Sobat. For one it is disrespectful (my opinion) and you should really go after them.
Most of your issues just seem to be due to your lack of experience with Deejay.
Instead of listing out every little thing you should have / shouldn’t have done, my only advice is to just keep playing with him. Most of the timing quirks and reaction stuff will just come naturally over time.
Set a goal for yourself, like 5000 BP, and just keep playing ranked til you get there. Then post some more videos here.
I’d disagree on the disrespectful part, but I absolutely agree that if you get a knockdown you should be applying more pressure.
If you can make your opponent so angry by taunting that they mess up the rest of the game, go for it.
99% of the time against decent players though, it’s just going to be you giving away victory.
(Takes Notes)OK:
Use more Knee Shots
No more walking back
More Anti-Airs
No more Taunts ever
and No more videos or posts ever until I am at least as good as those players from SoCal.
Thanks for the help. Sorry for ever posting in the first place.
Don’t apologise for posting, you’re trying to put yourself on a path of improvement, nothing wrong with that.
I’m not from SoCal . . . . lol
You have to post videos. We’re here to help. We are all still learning. Its easier to get better if we all help each other.
Nothing amazing. Its not an easy matchup. The second fight is hella free even though i take some unnecessary damage.

Read the description please. I already know some i failed big in the second round of the first match.
Weren’t you guys looking at a couple of posts back?..
Obviously someone on here doesn’t want anyone to help me cause he thinks I’m just a scrub. He’s probably right btw.
I have more advice: If you go to a topic asking for feedback, and you do not interpret that feedback to be 100% positive; try not to get upset about it.
Also: Knee Shot
Don’t take this too personal. It’s the internet.
To JCool: First match was really solid, but to me it seemed that you did some unsafe Sobats and Slides that Giule could punish but he didn’t. I feel like I get punished for pulling that stuff all the time.
You mentioned yourself that you were sloppy in the second but your opponent wasn’t the type to take too serious. I wouldn’t have focussed too much either.
And I didn’t know about the fact you could play music on PS3 while playing lol. Gonna try that out haha.
KGershkoff post all that you want, this thread should be about sharing different playstyles of deejay. If you look at my first vids posted they are completely crap but i posted them anyways. Just share, nobody is stopping you from doing so.
@Jcool noticing a bit of my pressure strings showing in your deejay nowadays
lovin it.
personally i’ve started to change how i play deejay a little (some would say refine, other would say regressed) but it’s become slightly less aggressive. I think it’s due to me playing the same group of people over and over again and them getting used to how i play. I’ll try to upload a vid (haven’t in a while) if i get the chance.
I didn’t realize that I was on a stream. Competition wasn’t so great and a big room fucks with your links. I didn’t start playing until 40:00
