Some vids of me. It was casuals and I haven’t been playing DJ much lately. My timing is like super off with my walk up grabs, I’m usually pretty good with those, and I mistime safe jumps and yeah. I only tried dash U2 twice that day, got it the second time off camera.
haha yea, i were so angry after doing that, should’ve just walked backwards…
Jcool813: well yeah, kind of, Rufus is my main and Dee Jay is my 2ndary =) sometimes I do a counter pick here and there but mostly I play Rufus vs. all matchups, something like that ~ Rufus and Dee Jay are the only 2 ones I like in SSFIV “all the way” if you understand… And im really waiting to try out Yun when he comes, he looked like he could be extremely fun all the way aswell… 8)
A dash Ultra, and then an EX MGU > Dash Ultra 2 video w/ hands would immensely help the Deejay community. Whoever does this will be forever etched in SSFIV history as being the guy who made Deejay go up 1 notch on the Tier List. LOL. Thats not funny =0(
you’re not going to be able to do it by just watching a video. It’s all about just practice and repetition, but not to a ridiculous extent. It took me about a week to learn it, and I wasn’t even trying too hard. But I have pretty good execution though, by no means is dash U2 easy.
1.) don’t throw away your EX bars so easily. Wait to see if your hits are hitting before you just throw out the ex meter. EX sobat through fireballs is great, but much on reaction, not assumption. DJ can be ultra punished if it’s not spaced properly, so be careful.
2.) Don’t be so quick to jump in, especially against someone with a legitimate DP. Dee jay’s ground game is much more solid than his air game, make better use of that.
3.) Against Sagat, I find the key is to get in his face and keep him down with the vortex/combo into lk sobat. Get him to waste meter with FADC DP’s and whiffed unmetered DP’s and punish accordingly. All you really have to do to get in is either slide under high fireballs, sobat over low ones, absorb a couple or predict them if you know your opponent well enough (not the best idea though).
4.) Dee jay can combo st.mk to mk sweep and cr.mp, if you are poking at somebody without a charge, those are great ways to gain a charge and/or get a decently damaging knockdown.
5.) Face better opponents.
If anybody is still struggling with the dash U2, visit the dash U2 page.
I’m not trying to offend you or anybody, no need to take it personally. All i’m trying to do is help build the dee jay community stronger and if there are things I notice would help, i’ll say it. If it bothers you, then I won’t comment on your videos. Also, I was implying that your opponent wasn’t all that great, not you.
Oh man… I love these Monday-morning quarterbacks. Let’s take a look at some of C 3’s “advice”…
His EX Sobats were pretty on-point. Even from 3/4ths to full screen you will usually catch them by surprise with the second hit if they’re not used to the matchup. It’s also a great way to close the distance. And JCool determined that EmblemLord didn’t know the matchup very well early on. So the chances of EL knowing how/when to punish were reduced. It wasn’t until near the end that he started consistently punishing with TU (and a 100 dmg punish isn’t really much of a deterrent).
The majority of JCool’s jumpins were crossups, and he was doing them correctly for the most part. You can get away with crossups on Sagat if you time them perfectly, which you obviously weren’t aware of. And when he had to jump over a Tiger Shot, he frequently used knee shot.
Have you ever actually played against a good Sagat? You can’t just “slide and lk sobat” your way inside and “start the vortex”. JCool was using a variety of things to get around fireballs, including knee shot and EX sobat. Also, EmblemLord is a really aggressive player and tried to stay up close most of the time anyway. So closing the distance wasn’t a major concern.
Seriously? You seriously thought he didn’t know this? JCool discovered like half the fucking things we currently know about Deejay. Do you even read these threads?
EmblemLord is one of the best Sagat players online. I can guarantee that your Deejay would lose to him, very quickly. You probably weren’t even aware of half the things happening in this match.
You realize that JCool has discovered and posted the majority of Dash-U2 strategies, right?
Look, the bottom line is that you have no right to give him any criticism, or even advice. I highly doubt you know anything he doesn’t already know. He’s arguably the best Deejay player on this board, and he posts videos to prove it. If you think your Deejay knowledge should be respected, then post some of your own videos.
Until then, keep your mouth shut.
(and obviously i think constructive criticism is normally a good thing. But this guy gave advice on things he clearly doesn’t know enough about)
^idk if this is flame worthy, dude’s just trying to help. Jcool either just listens to waht he’s saying and takes it into consideration, or just ignores it if he doesn’t think its important. Not a big deal.
ALSO just know that you can stuff shoryukens if you get the timing right, so you can jump them on wakeup its just hard to space and time it.
EX sobat can be thrown out randomly sometimes to if you read them, and catch them walking forward or something. Just don’t do it like if they have super or w/e.
