Just wanted to say great job to all the seattle people   Its cool you guys were able to travel and have such a great time, peace.
It was a lot of fun, thanks.
For reference for people thinking about going to tourneys in the future, here were the actual costs:
- hotel: $203 for four days at a Red Roof
- car: $160 or so for 3 1/3 days via Alamo with a Costco discount
- flights: $280 each via United booked via Expedia
- taxis to/from airport: $120 [having so many bags meant drop-offs/pick-ups would have been difficult]
I think that’s about it. I think the divided cost was something around $350 for each of the four of us, plus food costs. So pretty cheap overall.
Congrats Brent on winning ST! How many entrants were there?
40 for ST in OH.
Wow, nice job.
I wish it was me! If I had won ST I would never shut up about it! Nate was wondering if I that was me too. Sorry to dissapoint but maybe it will be me someday.
Random though. I also found some guy recently online named Brent who looks like me and is my age. I am not liking this pattern.
SB3 was a fun trip. The level of competition was higher than any event I have ever attended. We did kinda got screwed over a little bit, in that we couldn’t practice in our hotel rooms though. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I was really never able to get warmed up and just wasn’t able to get comfortable playing prior to the tournament. That, coupled with having to play on a TV with no sound in the winners and loser bracket, and my tournament was over almost before it got started. Not to mention the people I was up against were straight beasts. I would have had a hard time winning against those guys anyway; even if I was playing at my best and under ideal conditions.
Jason made sure to win when it mattered (when I had money on him), and Zach and Rat were both playing pretty well. There was one point in casuals where Rat sat down and beat up hella top players in a row. Smoothviper, Combofiend, Yipes, Matrix and several other monsters got storm/sent/cyke’d. Rat was kinda beasting in the tournament as well. He lost a competitive match against Justin and apparently came close to beating Sanford too.
It seemed like Rowtron brought Cable to Ohio, but left Magneto and Sentinel in Seattle.
Hilarity ensued on Monday when we went to Magic Mountain. Wha’chu know about Sudden Death COTA!?! We laughed so hard we cried. Also, Pablo bombed on us in a funny ass game of mini-golf. Too good.
Cosign on the marvel meditation. I had planned on this tournament being the end of me playing marvel competitively, but being at SB3 did not funciton as a means to that end. I guess we’ll wait and see what happens.
I got bodied for making dumb desicions. I’ll post later when I catch up in school work.
P.s. Up Fierce beat me at sb3
x-copy! :cybot:
I was really bored waiting for my leg to heal, so I started watching a bunch of random Marvel videos, beginning with PNW Majors. After Youtubing various videos of respectively bad players with low tier characters, it reminded me why/when I started playing this game. I’m going to try and have more fun during casuals.
I still have to keep sharp in case a tournament pops up at Zach’s, though.
