Yep. here’s are some lists of things you can do to keep in mind, and also make an important note to never do any of these things too much (at least not now when you’re working on making Yun from the ground up again), but at the same time, choose few things from the list to master and slowly broaden your game plan. After that, learn some match-ups, then break down your Yun again and re-work your Yun from the ground up into more and more advanced stuff.
Neutral game
-Neutral jump
-Regular jump in
-Dive kick (FOCUS ON SPACING! your fst.mk should give you a rough idea of the distance, use it as a distance measurer)
-NEVER EVER let them jump in. I advise you stay just outside of all their pokes and wait for them to jump in to practice this.
Footsies
-FOCUS ON WHIFF PUNISHING (fst.mp is a good start)
-fst.mp xx shoulder
-fst.mp Target combo for positioning
-cr.mk
-cr.mp (against certain moves)
-fst.hk
-fst.mk
-spaced med lunge punch
Upclose pressure (block strings)
-chain or linked jabs into throws, their tech timing will have to change for either chain or linked
-st.lk (underutilized, very potent if you know the match up)
-st.jab pressure (walk forward jab jab jab walk forward jab walk etc etc etc)
-frame trap with delayed jabs, or better yet cr.mp AND close st.mp
-meaty cr.mp into ex CG
-non meaty cr.mp CANCEL (last few active frames) into regular CG <---- very advanced shit, not recommend you practice until later
-forcing your opponents to crouch block a lot, then throw in neutral jump dive kick to catch their tech limbs (note some characters with fast cr.lk will only rarely get hit)
-using blocked attacks to set up perfectly set up dive kicks. EX: cr.mp, cr.mp, nj. MK dive kick = perfect hit toe. Another: blocked shoulder, nj. HK dive kick = perfect. Final: cr.jab or short, st. jab. st.jab (not chained) = nj.mk dive kick = perfect.
Note that there are many block strings that set up for perfect re-entry with dive kick. find your own strings that works for you.
These are just some fundamental things you can work on to level up your Yun from the base level so that you can apply your mix-ups with much more confidence and frequency.
Character match-ups are for mid to high level players where meter management, life management, resets, oki, and etc take place. Strengthen your basics before trying to dig into match-ups. There’s a reason why my write-ups assumes you know “how to Yun” relatively well.
More advanced Yun tactics include using palms in block strings, correctly using command grabs, post-throw and shoulder set ups, resets including genei jin resets, and more.
