I dont think so, unless they are planning a possible 360 xbox live arcade release which would be great but I doubt they will. One can only dream.
What can I do against Kevin with Grant? The only strat I came up with is get ahead on life, run away with dp + C, d + D and pray. Once he gets in he starts all sorts of feint cancelling shit and I have to block until I get guard breaked and die.
It depends on Kevin but if they just go for typical jump in :snkd:, :snka:, :qcf: + :snkb: block loops you have to JD them. If you’re good at GCing stuff you can go into Grant’s :qcf: + :snkb: special to get them to drop and recover to position yourself for keeping Kevin locked down. The main thing is not to get trapped in the corner when playing agains’t Kevin especially. Just remember that Grant’s dash is pretty fast and has long dash range. So if the Kevin’s you play tend to jump in a lot you can always dash under to put the pressure on them. All Grant has is his stand :snka: or :d: + :snka: for poking and keeping them in block stun. I think for Grant to win the match he has to be careful when Kevin has meter and he has to keep the pressure on Kevin. Grant’s :dp: + :snka:/:snkc: are both great anti airs and good to GC into as well.
Just remember Grant’s jump :ub:/:u:/:uf: + :snkb: are all an overhead if they are crouching. So you can do stuff like on wake up jump up :snkb: into his dick kive :d: + :snkb:/:snkd:. If the Kevin’s you play are good at GCing jump ins you can try doing jump in :snkd: then cancel into :d: + :snkb:/:snkd:. If you get lucky you can land a counter hit that way because they usually expect Grant to land after a jump in. Grant’s :qcf: + :snkd: has frame advantage on block. It will keep them in block stun long enough for Grant to follow it up with :snka: or :d: + :snka:. I tend to use his :r:, :l:, :r: + :snka:/:snkc: move every now and then. It’s an overhead and if the first hit connects the rest follow up into a launcher. Grant’s main problem is lack of combo starts off a low hit. Most people tend to not block low VS Grant usually so I mix it up with a :d: + :snkb: every now and then.
These things you can use on most of the cast. Agasin’t Kevin you just have to be cautious agains’t him. If you are reckless and leave openings Kevin can turn around the match if he lands an opening. You just have to mix a good defensive style while keeping the pressure on Kevin, as well with offense. I was thinking about making a Grant video showing some tricks and things you can use in matches. Probably add a few neat combos he can do besides the typical corner combos.
NE = Neoempire
It was held in London. West London to be exact.
I play against pablox’s Kevin, he generally goes for standing jab into qcf + K, break, repeat for several times. I tried to escape backdashing or DPing but I get hit, and if I just block I get guard breaked. Of course getting caught in a corner means instant death so I try to get away to the other side with dp + C, but my main problem is not getting caught by guard breaking strings everywhere else.
Thanks for the tips so far.
Noc - When you are GC’ing how often do you shortcut it and how often do you just do it? I try to just do it alot but don’t have much success especially with Dps. I really would love to learn to do it better so I can change match pressure.
If Im recovering from block (like say Terry is doing Power Dunk Break, Power Dunk Break) if I block the first one is it possible to input the motion jd and then gc? or will the game not let you buffer the move out of block stun?
For you when you play rock and you do elbow, wait JD-GC 360, do you do the 360 after the elbow or do you just wait JD and do the 360 really quickly?
For the most part I usually just do the motion during the recovery of a break move or special with long block stun. So for example with Rock I’ll do the normal into elbow if they JD or block it I’ll input the 360 then JD to counter whatever they stick out. It’s better do it when the elbow hits far enough so Rock can recovery around the same tim they recover from block stun. DP motions can be more tricky but the same method is used like with your Terry example. Same goes for Marco’s dp break. Just do the motion as the character is recovering from the break/special then just tap back or down/back to wait for the JD. Then all you do is just press the button to GC right away. Though I can GC at times on reaction but it can be more tricky since you have to input as soon as you JD something.
Hello everyone, I’m a new garou player. I’m playing marco/butt and so far I’m having a pretty good time learning. The only thing I’m having problems with is using the charge moves as a guard cancel. My first question, is it possible, every time I either seem to do it to early and do nothing, and lose my charge, or do it too late and it’s not a GC and it just gets blocked(unless it’s a slow enough move, then there’s some pain!). Plus any other general tips will be greatly appreciate .I alread know some stuff like 6.A 2.b shenanigans, uppercut breaks and such, although i have a hard time doing them.
I play on GGPO as GreenMan if anyone has seen me/wants to play some games, although i’m gonna be out for a couple weeks traveling for Christmas.
Marco’s charge moves are easy to GC into. You just have to release the charge move as you JD something. As soon as you see the JD happening you release the button to GC right away. You probably just need to practice it a bit but it’s pretty simple.
On a side note I’ll be uploading some more recent Japanese TRF tournament matches from nico to youtube tonight. Stay tuned for those.
Yeah, i think a big part is I’m new to the system so I wasn’t exactly sure when the timing was let alone trying to get it right. Thanks for the speedy response!
I just finished uploading another TRF Garou MOTW Tournament here is the post I made to the videos.

Enjoy.
Sweet
Atb: You’ve got a great KDH! Seems like you have a good feel for the game - always doing d.AB at Terry’s f,f,C when Zato did those pressure strings and the dp.C, dp.C, air-super was really sweet. Good games!
Who all is going to Final Round?
I’m bringing the home system :woot:
I wish I could go but school + money is keeping me from leaving California around that time.
We’re going to have another Garou (as well as other games) event on the 22nd of Feb. Hopefully we will cap more footage for that.
I think it is possible.
SF2 HD Remix has been sucessful, and soon we will have SF4, this might inspire Capcom to release SF3: 3rd Strike on Xbox Live. And if THAT does well, then MAYBE SNK will counter with Garou.
I would love it if Garou became downloadable. From what I have played, I like it more than SF3. My personal favorite is Rock, though I am not sure how he “tiers.”
I really want it to be downloadable so that I could play online and take on good people, because as it stands, I suck.
I should be at FR, barring some unforeseen money troubles.
Interesting (didn’t know about this stuff, I’m a newb). I use a macbook, though. And I don’t really want to use a keyboard.
