Yeah the only place i ever hear of MOTWs getting any kind of “Tourny” play is at Evo gatherings. Sucks.
Keits tried to run it at SB3, but considering it was basically run 2.5 hours before it ended yea small turnout.
damn it feels good when you hit it.
Thats… What… SHE SAID!!!
EDIT: I apologize. I’m so sorry, but I couldn’t just let that one go >.>
I needed a good laugh.
Amazing thread.
Who is the easiest (but still quite good) character for a Garou beginner to pick up?
I’m looking to teach someone how to play and the only character I know anything about is Terry but they don’t like him.
Thanks in advance.
I still believe Marco or Grant are excellent choices. Marco because his fireball is such a great tool so that they can focus more on zoning than tricky combos. Also Marco has got some easy BnB’s imo (cl.D > srk-break > fireball/super). But I guess he’s really hard on a high level and I’ve seen Koba doing some tricky shit in recent matches, but a good character to start ith nevertheless. As for Grant, well, solid character with few but damaging combos, good HP and pretty straightfoward (no feintcombos!). I always introduce SF-players to the game by showing them Marco and then usually one of the brothers, unless they’re interested in a specific character.
Like Flik already mentioned Grant is probably the easiest character to learn overall besides Terry. Both characters are straight foward but Terry requires a bit more practice mainly with his feint cancel combos. Marco is the typical shoto style character but with a nasty high/low mix up game that is simple to learn. The only problem most people have with Marco are his break cancel combos usually. I think Rock is another good starting character but he requires a bit more patience. Especially when playing a more experienced player who knows Rock’s options in a match. Hotaru you can play to some extent as shoto style character but she also requires some practice mainly for corner combos and certain mixups. Jae is also pretty simple even without feint cancel combos he is very solid if you learn all his combo openings/mixups.
nocturnal, would you recomend me to use Gatos ten-ryu retsu kiba on combos? or should I stick with s power ones (like the neck break super for punish whiffs)
I wouldn’t use the super unless you wanted to get a flashy win on someone with it. I would rather just stick to his other supers instead since they are easier to land.

Awwwwwwwe
why do reflected fireballs sometimes phase through people?
You mean when it’s done upclose?
Not to mention that there are very few ways to combo into it and, instead you can do more damaging combos by finishing combos with his Punch super.
If this is the shiki that I played on GGPO, then it did happen up close but it also happened from a full screen away. I was butt, I threw a fireball, he relfected I sort of blocked, not block, blocked deciding what to do, then I blocked but the fireball just phased right through, it happened like 3 or 4 times.
Also whats the low component to Butt’s awesome high low game? I need to know this so I can actually become scary.
Also man Dong is tough! I like all the characters in this game too much and want to play them all.
There are certain situations when fireballs tend to go through certain moves but I haven’t seen them happen during blocks. I’ll do some tests on that though to see if maybe there is a trick to it.
All you need to know with Marco is :r: + :snka: and :d: + :snkb: to create openings. Same goes for his small jump openings and throw mixups. Just using those 4 things can land you a knockdown or opening. If you land the :r: + :snka: just following up with a walk in :snkd: or you can just :dp: + :snka:/:snkc: into break instead. If you land a :d: + :snkb: depending on how close you hit them I usually use :dp: + :snkc: since it goes in further than the :dp: + :snka:. If you depend on the :dp: + :snka:, you might end up whiffing them, if the :d: + :snkb: connected too far away. That or wont launch them for a follow up and just hit without a juggle. If they start blocking correctly then you have to mix in throws or low jump openings. Somethings I see that work well is empty low jump into :d: + :snkb: agains’t players that block too much. Though be carefull as you might get thrown since some tend to mash throws on wake up when you are close to them. That pretty much covers what you should be doing with Marco for landing openings.
Some other things you can try is lets say after they block a jump/small jump :snkd:, land, go into either:
-:r: + :snka:
-:d: + :snkb:
-walk in throw
-small jump again into :snkd:
-empty small jump into :d: + :snkb:
Just remember that both the :r: + :snka: and :d: + :snkb: are things you link into so you have time to do the specials into them pretty easy. I love using all the characters in the game myself that is why I usually play doing roullete when I play online. Hope this answers your question.
Butt has two low combos:
cr.B, st.A, qcf + A (this is link more so than a combo)
cr.B xx dp + C (Im fairly sure this is a combo and not a link, I can never get it out consistently anyway)
But generally speaking you want to poke them a bit with cr.B and mix it up with f + A and low jump D.
EDIT: Noc beat me to the punch
I just started playing this game and it’s fun really fun I want to learn it, definitely one of the best games snk has come up with
Where in the NE was this?
isnt SNK going to re-release this next year? for now im playing it on GGPO
Rock and Jae Hoon ftw!
