Enjoy.

Learned something new today. Gato’s counter can be JD’ed

So what allows me to get cheap ground damage from time to time?

I’m looking to get into this game, and trying to play it on my vista-based arcade cabinet through the ggpo emulator it seems to have really horrible input - I have real problems trying to do dragon punch motions, and qcfx2 supers have to be done very slowly to come out. I’m using the mayflash adapters from playasia that are recommended for vista, so there shouldn’t be any stick-based input latency - just wondering what the recommended emulator is for neo-geo in vista?

I’ve tried searching but srk’s search just takes me to a blank page atm :frowning:

I found out you can cancel his overhead into a super. Useful shenanigans.

Any tactics for a noob Kain? He’s who I’m trying to focus on right now.

Maybe if you went over some of the things you tend to do in matches we can go from there. Gato’s :r: + :snka: can be cancelled into any of this specials/supers before it hits the opponent. A good trick with that is doing his :r + :snka: then cancel it into :dp: + :snkb:/:snkd: then break afterwards, etc. It works pretty well agains’t people who tend to try throwing or mashing on wake up.

Are you just asking about emulators with online support?

I’ve noticed GGPO (though it has really great netcode) can still be a waste of time if your opponent’s ping is over 100. Like you noticed, you have to slow down all your timings to get things to come out properly. If you’re just using the GGPO build of FBA to play locally, things should be okay though.

The only other online method of playing Garou that would be worthy of a look is 2DF. I’m not sure if it runs with vista though, but it does use .NET so I’d assume it probably will work.

It does. It’s fine

I finally got ggpo to work on my comp.

My s/n = The Game

Come play my Kevin.

2DF runs on Vista. I have Vista. Works great.

I usually throw projectiles. Not a lot, but whenever there’s a good oppurtunity. I almost never use his Schwarze Panzer. Occasionally I use the B version but never D. I like using the Schwarze Lanze, and I cancel it quite a bit to build meter when I can. His Himmlische Seele is one of my favorite moves to use when I have a chance and I never use Himmlischer Atem. I fell in love with his A+B move.

I don’t have any real strategies to be honest. I just kind of picked him up and he’s fun to use. Picked up some wins on 2DF.

His :qcf:x2 + :snka: super is good again’t people who love jumping in a lot or jump a lot when cornered. They have to JD it or they will get hit for sure. It’s usually better to do whenever they try jumping in with something even though you get hit they will get hit harder. Overall you want to use during combos like off his :d: + :snka: + :snkb: then :snkc: follow up into :qcf:x2 + :snka:/:snkc:. The :snkc: version should only be used of that string in order for it to land fully on the opponent.

If you land his break move charge kick you can also follow it up quickly with :qcf:x2 + :snka:. If you dont have meter and your mid screen you can do his charge :l:, :r: + :snkb: to deal damage and a knockdown. If your in the corner after doing his charge kick break, follow it up with his :snkd: charge kick or TOP attack if your in TOP mode. You should always build meter whenever you have the time do his charge kick and break it. Another thing to remember is that his charge kick with :snkb: does more damage when you break it than the :snkd: version. The main reason is because the :snkd: version does more hits if you don’t break it for more damage.

Kain’s :d: + :snka: + :snkb: on wake up is great sinece you have the :snkc: follow up which tends to beat out certain GC attempts. It also leaves Kain safe if they happen to block it for instance you can feint cancel the :snkc: follow up. I dont know how many times I’ve landed counter hits using it meaty but it works. His charge :l:, :r: + :snkd: can breaked it as soon as it starts. I would never use outside of the corner but even then it isn’t worth using. His :snka: + :snkb: overhead is great since it hits twice. If you time it meaty so the second hit hits them as they get up, you can then follow it up with a combo. Kain’s jump :snkb: has great range so use it for air to air situatios and even use it at times when small jumping. It has a weird angle so it covers Kain pretty well.

Remember that you can follow up his throw in the corner with:

-charge :d:, :u: + :snkb:/:snkd:
-:qcf:x2 + :snkd:

I can go into more details with Kain since he has lots of things he can do especially with his :qcf:x 2+ :snkb: guard crush setups. I think I’ll just do a whole Kain write up instead which might take a bit to write up.

Feels the same to me…

What feels the same? The input timings? I’m only one person, but in my experience, and I’ve had many, playing a person on GGPO with a ping of say 150 to 200 (while still far better than Kaillera) is nowhere close to the same as playing a person with a ping of 30 to 50. I play a fair amount of Garou offline (FBA, MAME, PS2), and performing the same combos online has definitely required some timing adjustments (especially when their ping is very high).

Let’s talk about how awesome the level select music is for the console.

it sucks.

thats how awesome it is.

The only problem I had was JDing.

Otherwise all my max damage shit with Kev and Butt was working fine for me.

P.S. 2D fighters has too many scrubs playing MOTW.

hey guys what are some good options against freeman, i play this guy yesterday for like 30 matches and not 1 single round i could win hest too good:looney:

some times i started wondering how can he perfom the same complicated combo over and over again with out messing up its crazy can people cheat on ggpo?

well i noticed that he would wait for me to attack to guard cancel and break into a freeman combo after a while i caught on to that, but his execution with the rush down and combos where crazy.

made me feel like a n00b when are you guys on ggpo im mostly in the Garou room but there are barely any people
my screename on there is:

hanz0

Im in mexico by the way im mostly on at night.

well guys any tips would be apreciated.

My main characters are Terry,Grant & gato.
But i use everyone though.

:woot:

Freeman is pretty straight foward when it comes to his rush down and combos. If he tends to try to GC a lot just do empty jump throw then next time jump in but time your jumpins to hit late or earlier which can throw him off. If he does try to GC your empty jump you can grab Freeman out of his :qcb: + :snka:/:snkc: reka stuff. You have to really watch out for his :d: + :snkb: since he can confirm hit into his :qcf:x2 + :snka:/:snkc: super easy. Freeman has probably some of the best pokes in the games and has a poke for every possible jump in or poke attempt agains’t him.

As for playing online I haven’t been on much rencently since I’ve been pretty busy with school. If you have AIM just hit me up if you want to get some games in. I’ll probably be on it later tonight since I’m on school break now.

thanks for the tips:woot:
