Yeah our scene is mad sporadic. One of the problems comes from people hating on other people games. But those are personality issues that we really can’t fix. I hate how I had to finally create a facebook account last weekend just so I could find out where the action is. People need to start posting here. That’s what I’m use to.
**Soaring stock in Atlanta
We knew when the Atlanta Hawks hired Danny Ferry as their general manager that it would mark a wholesale change in the way this franchise did business, but nobody expected the change to be this drastic, this fast.**
With two landmark moves in a period of hours Monday that wiped nearly $90 million off the payroll, the Hawks went from a franchise that considered losing in the second round of the playoffs to be the pinnacle of human achievement to being one that could matter – I mean really, truly matter – for the first time since Dominique Wilkins was making nightly highlight films.
For those who just crawled out from under a rock, the Hawks first sent Joe Johnson to Brooklyn for the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Jordan Williams, Anthony Morrow and DeShawn Stevenson (who will have a non-guaranteed multiyear deal, per sign-and-trade rule requirements, but is effectively an expiring contract). The Hawks then tradedMarvin Williams to Utah for the expiring contract of Devin Harris. Farmar will be bought out for $1.5 million, Harris might be rerouted someplace else and Petro will be given Pape Sy’s former jersey just to see whether anyone can tell the difference. You REALLY want to know why the scene is the way it is today??
Multiple reasons and just a few of them are worth mentioning but It first starts with us as tournament organizers.
Shinblanka
Lordiceman
Pokchop & Princess Stacy
Wizzlecroft,Funky P & Gunnar
First of all none of us are on the same page, we are all working against each other (Not purposely) but in general, Years ago Magnicious and Myself made it our duty to keep a branch of communication open to any organizers in and out of the state of georgia so we could help one another build and that has all but DIED inside the state of georgia, it all starts with us man if we are closed mouth, won’t talk to one another, bounce ideas off of one another, RESPECT one another then whats the point because in the end, we all claim we are working towards the same goal…why do we have to do it all as individuals rather then together??
Battle & Brew has become a staple within our community since Atlanta Revivals have gone to quarterly rather then monthly, The games Battle & Brew hosts, they host each week which equates to a month by month standard, Revival had to switch to quarterly due to lack of attendance, upcoming tournaments in and outside of state and rather then competing and hurting attendance a change was made but the question is…why rival Battle & Brew as a monthly??
Why not help promote them and help bring their numbers up so that all tournaments held in Ga can benefit??
We as tournament Organizers do not do our homework anymore nor treat our tournaments like the job they are, we do not have our ears to the streets and giving the people what they want anymore we just cling to what ever is hot at tournaments outside Ga, copy & paste and post “Yeaaa tournament this month” as if everyone should come just because…NO!!
With the exception of Shinblanka’s Final Round and most Recent Final Round Randbats & Battle & Brew’s Monthlies, we do not have a set system in regards to tournaments, we do not post a month or two ahead of time to give people time to build up, train up, prepare in general like we used to in the past.
People hear about Revival within a week or two of Revival which hurts it’s numbers, Battle & Brew is labeled “Happening so often” that some decide to miss one, then one becomes two, two becomes three so forth and so on!!
If we as the organizers are not united we cannot expect our community to be as well.
We also need to stop living in fear of being vocal, we see tons of negativity within the community, people hating on others games, making them feel worthless because they play whatever they play but like it or not the younger audience looks up to Shinblanka and others from the old school and if we actually spoke out on some of the issues we have here, the disorder we have here and on facebook or within tournaments in general, a lot would change, we shouldn’t live in fear that “If we say something that may hurt their feelings then they may not come to our tournaments” well if that were to be the case they would just be left out because the reason we need that release is to help our state grow which is what e have been saying since 2008 when SF4 emerged and the rebirth of our fighting game scene commenced.
Each individual is good/great at their own separate thing, We have the best Streamer in the south in Paul aka Funky P, we have the largest tournament oraganizing name in Shinblanka, we one of the best promoters, shit talkers in Lordiceman & Pokchop, We have great video editors, we have musicians like Piano Den, Dexter Jones, Brant McCaskill, Trayveon Maxwell etc we also have good standing with almost any and every tournament organizer in the south from old too new, so why isn’t Ga the Mecca of the South like Cali is the Mecca for ENTIRE West Coast??
It all begins with us, if we actually took the time, put our heads together and not attempt to go after and take the whole pie, develop a legit partnership that benefits not only ourselves but the community, the ideas we present to the players will make our future bright and maybe just maybe the work we put in will draw attention year round to the south in general not just for CEO or Final Round or Impact Clash, maybe we can get it jumping like the North East does with ECT, NEC,Apex, Curleh Mustache etc or like the West does with the Level Up tournies, now their first Curleh Mustache so forth and so.
I personally have big Ideas, I have developed the “Council” a team of Tournament Organizers and their best workers to help rebuild and restructure the entire Atlantic South Division but we cannot do it alone, we can’t reach the level of dominance we seek on a few individuals working one way and the rest working another, just can’t.
I’ll post my views on the Competitors portion after work today, this post was manly for the Tournament Organizers to read and respond too!!
See thats where The Community should already be at but where not.We have so much potential, but we can’t see it.
Remember that a lot of the people in Ga use the Facebook group to meet up and plan things so if you aren’t in it and want in, simply post and someone should be able to add you.
Everyone has some valid points. As a person who wants to come out but can’t seem to make it due to scheduling my biggest concern has been maybe a lack of communication such that all the events going on sort of coordinate with one another CONSISTENTLY. I mean we can probably make a calander on google or facebook or something ya know. I went to final round for the first time and i met beasts in so many different games. But everyone seemed to be in their own lane.
There has to be some log of GA players, their city, the games they want to excel in, and their email/facebook for regular/TIMELY notice of events.
I have a decent sized place. If folks want to host something casual or stream. i’m willin open the door. but I only want to do it in coordination with other events and stuff ya know.
The Ga Facebook community was suppose to have all of that information in regards person to person info like location, gamertags, telephone numbers.
We used to have a contact list for everyone in the entire south here on SRK I am not sure if it is still stickied or not.
I am no longer fond of SRK so you won’t see me post much positive about it, I had to work hard to get our monthly tournaments moved up in time for other states to even see them, the mods for that section would only move whomever they knew personally or knew of shat on and ignored the others.
In order for the facebook group NOT to fall we nee the new comers to be VOCAL and not lurk, we also need competitive people not those who see videos, do combos, come to tournament and gatherings, find out it’s hard to do them on HUMAN BEINGS then no longer come around
Well…then invite my ass to the facebook page
I drop in and out from time to time but, it’s a pain to know when/where/what gatherings and tourneys are going down
Whatup Ice!
Need some assistance with UMVC3…
Need some suggestions on a third person that will compliment these teams that I have working on.
1st team - Zero/Trish/?
2nd team - Task/Trish/?
3rd team - Spidy/Task/?
4th team - Zero/Iron/?
I have not been able to find a good 3rd person to compliment either team. Suggestions?
Nitrox man you fam so you can just fucking call or text, the Impact Players will keep you posted lol hit me up via pm my cell is the same but I am sure you do not have it anymore
What is the direction you are rolling with, what play style do you want??
Team Synergy??
Rushdown??
Zoning/Camping??
Battery??
One hitta quitta??
Or just a team of characters whom you like just do not know if they work well together??
The KoF players around Atl (since no one really in Atl seems to play, that I know of) have been getting together pretty frequently (1-2 times a week) but I will do my best to post up when we do have gatherings.
Thats the problem with this state… way too clique oriented. Some of the better players don’t care about the growth of our community imo. I’ve sessioned with quite a few people and played long sets with them, ask for advice, and get dumb answers. Everyone wants to be the champ of their area but it just sets you back in the end.
And again, the facebook thread is shit bc people rarely post about gatherings anyway and when I do it just falls all the way down the page because of reposts/unrelated shit.
Just looking for general opinion/ideal… If you pick the 2 people I listed, who would be the 3rd person for the team?
Getting serious bout Marvel…OHHH SNAP!!!
Great matches last night. Kind of sucks that I didn’t get a win on Marvel, but don’t worry…I got him next time!
As far as Marvel period, been dipping my feet in the water. Still a little too cold for me overall, but I am always am looking to broadening my gaming horizon.
Still looking for suggestion on a 3 person for the following teams…
1st team - Zero/Trish/?
2nd team - Task/Trish/?
3rd team - Spidy/Task/?
4th team - Zero/Iron/?
The best qualify people to ask that question is at this Thread:Official and Only Team Building Thread (ALL TEAM BUILDING TOPICS GO HERE)
Getting a place that is willing to host weekly casuals is pretty tough. In Warner Robins, part of the group I’m in had a pretty sweet time at this bar called Game On. Problem was, management pulled the plug earlier than we expected and apparently the owner didn’t like the idea of us having weekly casuals at his bar despite we gave him some much needed business and we paid $5 if we didn’t get any food or drinks. We’re trying to get a more permanent location down or negotiating with the bar management to give us another chance, but everything is up in the air for now.
Our group would love to go up to ATL for BnB and Revival, but work often gets in the way and the drive is a little too long to go to BnB (in my opinion, not the entire group’s), so we tried to start a weekly ourselves, but it’s not working too well here. Any help?
Hey Tifa this is Israel from 8WayRun, whats good Here’s a suggestion : What bout Gamer Xperience do the group live in the area of where Lithonia is???
Sup, haha. Well, it’s roughly a 2 hour drive up to get there, and even further from Albany, so not the most convenient location. We’re trying to get a permanent location in either Warner Robins or Macon where the majority of the group is. It’s not a bad option, just not the most ideal for us.
Oh…my bad didn’t think it was that far away from you guys.Oh well good luck on finding a new venue then and if I come across something that might help you guys out i’ll definitely say something
