In practice mode you can set your partner to have AI. But you can’t record your moves with the dummy and have it play it back.
Online, there is input delay, but you can get used to it once you figure out the timing. I’m a no-name sure, but, I have lots of experience with SFIV. I prefer this over dropped inputs or just shit happening that shouldn’t.
^Rules for a smooth online play? Don’t buy games with shit net codes. I bought SF4 on Xbox360 and it played like a elephants ass.
I bought "S"SF4 for PS3, and it played pretty well.
I really doubt Xbox Live is going to save this game if the netcode is pants. And that is what it seems it is, As I’ve already seen reports of Xbox Live users QQing about the lag a long with PSN users. Maybe you’re not sensitive to input lag, but a lot of people are and it’s anoying and ruins the entire experience of playing the game.
I wasn’t sure to buy MK because I haven’t really played it since the 90s but I went ahead and I gave it a try and i’m so glad I did, netcode is great I haven’t had a laggy match as of yet. I plan on practicing alot on MK9 so if anyone here is on PS3 feel free to add me (PSN: Tolkun, I am still new at it, so go easy) I just gotta say though, GG MK9 You’ve impressed me
I’m not a top tier player by any means, but I bothered to commit a few combos etc to muscle memory, and in about 12 matches last night I couldn’t for the life of me land a single one, in fact just blocking things on reactions seems hopeless. Honestly the people I saw having the most success in King of the Hill rooms were Scorp players spamming spear/teleport because blocking on reaction is hopeless. I didn’t see anyone who won try a combo since missing a juggle basically means eating a spammy wakeup/uppercut.
So Imo about the same as MvC3, if you like to win with spamming teleport/heavy great. If you like to block/punish/land technical/non-chain combos, it’s hopeless.
I’ll try 1v1 tonight, but if KoTH is pointless I’m going to be discouraged since it seemed like by far the coolest mode.
if you are sensitive to input lag, than why did you buy the PS3 version of SSF4?

okay, the online problems are on both platforms but as I said, I had some nice matches versus players of my region on XBL!
dont wanna start a console war, but its common that the 360 has always a better online performence!
the game has huge online problems, but if you dont brake the rules, the game is absolutely playable!
^I’m obviously talking about Online here. That video shows what, one frame of delay? This is nothing, and easy to adjust to. What I’m talking about is laggy online net code which produces anything from 20-60 frames of delay, that is borderline unplayable. Some people don’t even notice this, or maybe they’re hosting on XboxLive p2p so they think there’s no lag?. But when a game has that much input delay in this day and age with broadband and very low latency connections etc, then that is down to NETCODE and nothing to do with PSN or Xbox Live.
thats of course true but most of the matches I had were good!
i just want to give tips on how a good and smooth online play is possible for nearly everybody!
i dont want to deny that the game has MAJOR online problems!
let the 360 vs PS3 part out if you want!
You use phrases such as “get rid of the PSN garbage” and then try act like you’re innocent and not trolling. Whatever, carry on… i honestly don’t give a shit about which console is better, In fact I actually like the 360 version more because it has higher resolution textures. But you give out incorrect information in regards to PSN and XboxLive, and that is wrong. Xbox Live is only as good as the developers net code, same for PSN.
I don’t think it makes a huge difference. Unlike SSFIV with six buttons and plinking, it seems like inputs in this game are very viable on either. (Kind of like Tekken)
Personally I’m playing on the TE Stick because I like sticks and nostalgia purposes, but I played fine on pad at the Gamestop tournament. (Managed to win here. :))
As for the game, it’s fun, and it actually has a lot of kontent unlike fucking Street Fighter. This and that the game is more fair and balanced so the good players win often and trash scrubs will still be on par with new comers. Have a 90% winning streak of 20 or so matches so far if you want to send me a match PSN: RedScarf99.
Reports are mixed; some are having a bad time while others report perfect games. It seems to be somewhat heavily reliant on player connection, which could be contributing to the bad experiences.
It won’t be possible to make an accurate value judgement until the dust has settled in a week or two, though, imo. Release date is still too recent to call anything.
“But you give out incorrect information in regards to PSN and XboxLive, and that is wrong. Xbox Live is only as good as the developers net code, same for PSN.”
I do not! there are obviously differences between both online systems! and as I know, XBL always performs better!
maybe we should discuss that on another thread, if you want!
@ yabusaid
SSF4 netcode is by far better, just because you can use the spectator mode there!
KOTH (spectator mode in MK) is unplayable!
Not a MK fan here … but i’m mindblown over this MK, the sheer amount of… stuff they crammed into this game is astounding for fighting games of today, my only disappointment is the online… which definately is a bit to laggy to play properly, hoping they can fix that though. Luckily I have a group of friends who really are die hard MK fans to play with so it’s been great fun
I want this game to set the standard for all devs out there making fighters now, this is how you do it
Stuff like the tag mode, this coulda been shoehorned into the game just for the sake of it, but it’s really been polished up with the way the assists work, the tagging combos and the like… the meter management is even more important here because you can really make some SICK setups off of a well timed assist attack!
