Why you gotta be that guy? Why not just play 12? If you’re going to play an annoying character why not just go all out?
I expected to be chewed out for whatever reason (seems to be happening a lot lately and I don’t know why), which was why I immediately edited it out. I’ll gladly PM you with any questions I have regarding Ibuki, though. I remember almost the entire post I made in that thread too if you’d like me to retype it for you.
lol @ “dead as a dildo”
Because to be annoying with twelve you actually need some skill.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Been thinking of learning 12 after watching Yama dominate an east vs west war for like 6 games straight.
Honestly though, unlike 12 who is JUST annoying, Oro has two supers that carry a serious intimidation to them if you fall into certain situations. I also really like his character design and back story. Only character with a rep that Gouki feels is worth mentioning. I mean Oro basically calls him an uppity youngster. That’s bad ass.
Spoiler
besides you are most certainly ‘that guy’
Edit: shut up Tebbo :-p
I’m not one to really chew anyone out and idk anyone who’ll post in that forum besides maybe Dander, WAH, and Marble really and they’re all gentle hearted plushies. DJ and Xenozip were both eaten by turtlebears. I’m pretty sure the post was just about switching off Ibuki though, which isn’t something you have to feel bad about haha. I was just using the post as a reference to how dead the character forums are.
I’d be all up for threads in the main forum for specific characters unless they want to fix the subforums to show new posts. I like subforums. What they could do is move the general discussion threads for each character to the main forum instead of making us make new ones.
just got done playing against someone on ggpo.
my opponent in a nutshell:
dash x super
3 srks in a row
jump over, super
i really wish 3S had an offline scene in ohio.
i may not be the smartest player but at least i try, jesus christ.
shit pisses me off because i can’t learn from playing people who do dumb shit like this.
Edit -
@Niji oh nah, I didn’t mean to direct that towards anyone on these forums. everyone here is actually quite nice and helpful. i was going off of ggpo, where only like…3 out of the 20-30+ who frequent it are helpful (i know this makes no sense but yeah). another reason why i deleted it is because, well, like everyone says, the subforums are dead.
the post was actually about the basic gameplan and things I should be doing with her. every single person who uses the character tells me something different. the only thing that stays consistent is “poke with st.mk and f.hk”. also, “watch more videos”.
i can watch videos all day but i’ll never be able to pick up on why JP players do the things they do. for instance, what Marble said, that’s brilliant and amazing to me that he was able to understand why JP players lk, mk target combo into hk srk. you can show me 50 videos of JP ibuki players doing something like that and i wouldn’t be able to understand why.
Twelve is sick dude.
I don’t really use him online because people are too annoyed by him. Though Remy is really just as much a criminal online.
Oh I know about the GGPO chat, hahahaha. I very very rarely type in it, but I regularly glance at it. The best info you can pull from GGPO chat is porn really, that’s about it. Even that can be really weird sometimes.
it’s not even that.
it’s the general consensus that if someone is bad, time to act like an elitist fuck because you can get a couple games off someone on netplay (not saying that most of the games I play would go differently offline but I’m sure Dudley wouldn’t be able to fucking throw me ~immediately~ after blocking his sa3/mgb/etc…among other bullshit that goes on with lag) instead of helping the person understand what they’re doing wrong, the way the game’s mechanics work, what my character should be doing in x situation and what my character shouldn’t be doing in y situation, feel me?
don’t get me wrong, there are a handful of people who help me out (N434, mr.12, jstarlee, dander when he’s feeling nice and a couple others who’ve slipped my mind) but they are outweighed by the mongoloids who contribute nothing. ever.
that and the like 2-3 retards who sit in there, every single day, attempting to get a rise out of people by spamming racist slurs like it’s a 2004 AOL chatroom.
it just really sucks that i’m confined to playing 3S like this. i hate that i missed out when it was in its prime.
I was specifically talking about resets like close RH, jab, dash, repeat without evening changing it up to a low, throw or raida. Stuff like close RH, strong x fierce xx command dash is also fairly weak offline… Well, the positioning you get from it isn’t bad, but you’re not going to get cross unders that your opponent can’t react to like you will online. Except occasionally against wide hitbox characters like Hugo and Alex.
Thanks HexSells, though I was partially wrong (RH tsumuji will combo off forward on a standing opponent sometimes, but I’ll need some training mode time to figure out why).

You know? If there was a way to hook up a controller to an arcade cabinet, I’d play the original arcade version.
you can do that with a supergun. I’d imagine you just strip out the guts of a controller and wire the buttons directly through a DB-15 or whatever you want to use. then it’s easy enough to have a couple sticks or a couple pads and they just plug and play the way a regular usb controller does as you rotate through players.
I suspect you could wire a pad directly to a real cabinet as well with enough effort, but then if you’re going to buy an actual cabinet might as well learn stick.
stick is better anyway.
Eh, I think stick is only required to get the most out of Akuma and Urien (Charge Partitioning).
As an Ibuki player on XBL and reading the last couple of posts…

stripping out the guts of a controller and wiring the buttons to work with a supergun isn’t that simple. The buttons on a pad don’t have microswitches in them, so you would need to hack the guts apart and leave them in there to wire everything together.
stick is better anyway
The stick vs pad argument has been done 10000 times but there’s nothing in the game that is easier on pad than stick.
Also this game was designed for stick. Double tapping/drumming are infinitely times easier on stick and are almost required to be 100% consistent.
Karas are so much more difficult on pad as well.
I’m actually pretty good with pad. I can Kara palm, partition, TTH no problem. Simple things like Kara throw, short short super, hit confirm consistently etc… are where the problems are on pad.
Simple answer. There are a lot of reasons and benefits to using a stick.
Consistency
Accuracy
Ability to play on arcade (most important)
Depends, I’m different in that I play with my thumbs. But I can land kara’s 9 times out of 10 with Alex, Elena, and Chun. But not so much Q, Akuma, Ryu or Remy. I can hit confirm consistently and do Dud’s crLKx2 SA3 super consistently too.
I’ll just put it this way. I had your same frame of mind in 2001. After I switched… I can’t believe I ever thought like that.
Same can be said for my opinion on American vs Japanese sticks pre 2008. That ones funny.
