General 3S/3S OE Thread. NO DISCUSSING REBALANCE, unless you like INFRACTIONS!

Can anyone enlighten me on how to pull off Mimora’s crazy combo : Air-to-air MK Tsurugi -> Hayate -> cr.MP x SA1(in corner)
(can’t find the video sorry…)

I only managed to do it twice… is there any particular trick to get the timing and spacing right? (Hayate strength or whatever)

Thanks.

Try to play sllllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwllyyyyyyy hex.
when you play fast and aren’t a good player yet, you end up just doing the things you know well over and over and over.

if you play slower you will think more and when you think more you will come up with more varied solutions.
it also depends on the other player but few people play so fast you can’t slow the pace down at least a little.

Fran means the Japanese term for Parrying, blocking. Hence the 2nd part about it, being random.

Me, the guess parrier, already knew this one. Stomp guy? continue EX stomping if you have meter. And getting locked down by Ibuki jabs and overhead.

Oh wow you’re right. I had no idea there was a lp mp hp tc lol.

ugh yes, elena and remy are offenders for sure. 3s is probably more balanced online because the shitty characters can use their gimmicks more effectively. this is of course no endorsement of online 3s

fcuk u.

I don’t

Real niggas show no respect. Duh. Fran i expect better of you wirh theses thingses… for im the upmost authority on a things 3s…

Kidding. There’s nothing worse than waiting on hk tatsu…

thinking about picking up dudley as a sub, he seems like a lot of fun to use.
i don’t want it to fuck my ibuki up, though. it shouldn’t, tho. if anything, it’ll make it better.

dudley dudley dudley.

sorry,not a frant this time

kind of always suspected it but nice to have a final confirmation
you know how they say “piotte” when you are stunned in versus games, specially sf

it’s “piyoru” from “piyo piyo” (aka pio pio)

apparently, early american animation like “tom & jerry” is said to be the inspiration for it

edit : PIOTTE TOM @ 3rd

I always thought it’s because piyo piyo ピヨピヨ is the sound that little chicks make. and there’s a stun animation with little birds floating around right?

It’s funny how different languages have different sounds for animals

yes,exactly
that’s what they say in the wiki
no idea why they go on about final fight, though
it all started with suto II

i only posted a “stars piotte” pic because i couldn’t find a “little chicks piotte” pic from tom & jerry :\

Allow Gill to be in tournaments. The only SA he can use would be Resurrection and that’s it!

I would hate that tournament.

Gill matches would become about first hit at that point and who doesn’t fuck up the combo.

In regards to the wake up thoughts posted, I highly agree that the average 3so scrub always wants to hit buttons. The idea, then, is to let them hit buttons. Mr. Miyagi said it best," Best defense against punch? No be there." Or some paraphrase of that quote.

Are you gonna stick with Ibuki or switch to a different main? I feel like both Dudley and Ibuki are chicken shit characters, and it never really feels satisfying playing as them or against them… if you want to play decent, gimmicky characters why not go with sick ones like Urien and Yang? Those EX slashes feel damn good to land. </opinion>

Oh god

I hate slash happy yangs only because I’ve played on OE. Otherwise, I’m happy that they enjoy using such an unsafe attack so much. Gives me more chances to practice my red timing. Btw, I’m finding that there is a general timing to red parrying. Very strange realization. Almost made the game seem less deep. Or as Ray Ramos would say, less dip.

I do think Yang players can mess with your red parry timing, according to those KO yang notes, but probably only guys like ROM and Nica KO would know how to exploit it

but yeah I think you can generalize a lot of red parry timings. I remember last time I played pyro he was red parrying c.mk x rh tatsu when the c.mk was spaced out far (so if it hits tatsu gets 2 hits instead of 3), and I asked him if it was similar to red parry c.mk x hadou and he said yeah pretty much. bummed me out :frowning:

Yes and no

You can take away red parry by not really giving them anything to red parry. (generally a good idea against sa2 makoto’s btw)

@Dander

NO! I WANT TO HOLLER THE LOUD FUNNY WORDS! I LIKE ALEX, HE’S MY FRIEND! I LIKE YOU AND HIM! AND HE LIKES ME! AND I LIKE HIM! HE LIKES YOU I HOP!!!

IT WAS A NICE PICTURE! IT WAS A NICE AUTOGRAPH! HE IS NIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCEEEEEE!

I don’t really know what you’re talking about. I’m the one doing the parrying in this situation.

What I’m saying is this, first think of meaty oki. You time it so that it hits on the first vulnerable frame, right.

And so the defender times his parry the same way.

Assuming the correct parry you can pretty much time the sound of your joystick/parry sound relative to that moment when there would be a meaty attack. And there you have your parry.

So to red parry, you find that moment again and give it a block sound instead of parry sound and find yourself some nice predictable red parry situations. You can do this by doing what you did for the parry sound. Find a block to red parry sound and get used to it. No theory involved in this. I actually do this.

I realized this when I started playing Ryan on OE again. He is using mostly his ear and that’s actually how I used to play until I picked up ggpo. That damn thing will kill an ear and it nearly almost did.

Thanks, ryan.
