General 3S/3S OE Thread. NO DISCUSSING REBALANCE, unless you like INFRACTIONS!

I think that should only happen if you mistime your meaty (so either you just have the timing wrong or the connection is pretty far past playable) or if the connection is bad enough to be dropping your input altogether.

so lets look at Alex as an example. every normal he has starts up no faster than 4f, and if it’s active for only 2f, are you really confident you timed your meaty correctly? even offline if I’m not spacing correctly I get thrown out of Ken “meaty” short short confirm. I’m not confident in my ability to time some of that stuff consistently at all.

I’m all for “online is pretty bad” but I don’t think it’s the fault of Iron Galaxy, or GGPO, or whoever else. it’s just the nature of the game as it was constructed for a very specific and offline setup. if 3s was programmed with these wide input buffers, or generous reversal windows, or whatever else these new games have to hide lag, people probably wouldn’t complain as much.

and for all that, I’ll still take GGPO over input lag netcode for 3s. I don’t want to imagine what gymnastics people go through to red parry shoto short short or Yun shoulder on GGPO delay +2 or higher, or on Supercade or whatever.

it isnt their fault.
it’s the nature of the beast. 3S was never designed with any kind of latency beyond that produced by the cps3 board itself.

it’ll work but that isn’t what was in mind when the game was made. the timings of things are designed for offline cps3 play.

The net code isn’t that bad. Tebbo is right about 3rd Strike that it wasn’t designed for online play (thank god).

Also people in America live too far away from each other, have shitty Internet, and don’t understand they can’t download shit while they play.

b-b-but my twelve girls band!

Your girl is twelve? Pedo.

Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey…whoa whoa wait a second there…

…judge him more.

This game has a guy named Twelve/“Tweleve” in it.

Louis internet has google to search “12 girls band” which is not the same as the Girls Generation 12 girls or how many in that band.

And to learn about plurals.

Louis is Sooyoung

Bob, stop watching anime. I made it through 30 seconds of that shit before I turned it off.

And that is why you can never be TOP

It’s funny Louis because the first 30 seconds are the most like you.
Be honest, you have had fire plume put of your ears before right?

Only once and that was for charity.

…why do you thank God? I would love to be able to play arcade quality 3rd strike against real humans from wherever I have good internet connection. Why would that be a bad thing?

then it wouldn’t play the same.
latency will never be gone so to design a game with network latency in mind will produce a different kind of game.

if we had some magical way to eliminate all network latency and have the game run exactly as it does on cps3 then that would be amazing. but that is impossible :<

Of course you can’t match the gameplay that you get in real life, that’s true with any game given our current level of consumer technology. But if 3sOE were as arcade perfect as Xbox SF4AE is, had the same training options/input display, and had the same quality of online play, I would be perfectly happy with it. That’s not an unrealistic demand, it’s perfectly possible. In fact, that’s what Derek Neal promised us 3sOE would be before it came out. But at this point it’s never going to happen because of how much effort they would have to put into porting the currently missing cps-3 mechanics. Capcom won’t spend that kind of money on patching a game that not many more people are going to buy.

would like to rant about umehara but…nah

you should do it! always cool to read more thoughts.

yes i like your rants fran

Frants if you will.

Go ahead and rant. Despite everything I said, I still called him overrated in a past discussion because a lot of his hype was overblown by fanboys.

I just figured he deserved credit where it was due, and he WAS a good player at the time.
