I found some images again, saved off of the Internet here, that may have to do with 3rd Strike in some way. The part about teaching that other guy the terms of the game, which I looked at to try to find for some new Akuma player once around here too. There was a terrible definition of frame trap or something, from the SRK’s newbie section glossary of terms. Maybe even an important one like “Link.”
Or maybe this is just from my losing and inexperienced side of things too I don’t know.
So lets talk that out. You can’t really just claim you know what you’re doing just to fit in. Maybe that is where you want to be later, battle hardened and tough. People can take one look at you and know right away you can play this game. You want to be in that arcade/venue with players who have a bunch of experience. And without that you’re kinda soft.
Playing alone/CPU/training mode is like skipping the steps of being punched in the face by others. But of course some people that only play others to get better probably plateau if they don’t use training/video/frame data supplements and some people that are experienced sometimes are stuck with only playing training/CPU sometimes.
I made the quick analogy that this game will punch you in the face before, but of course that meant others beating you really decisively, by stopping everything you tried to do and being 3 steps ahead of you with their reads.
Now we don’t want that part with the game is for 2 players and some guy is going to hog the game and only play CPU when he has a buddy right next to him, or only 1 controller and they have to take turns and can’t play eachother.
If they have the itch to play during the week in preparation for the weekly event, GGPO to connect to eachother should be fine before they are fed to the monsters<-- whatever version and idea of monsters you have of GGPO, and those experienced players.
They might notice the differences between that locally connecting and being offline in person too.
And the workaround to prevent trolling by non players with closing the lobby window or however you do it, could be important to create the private room connection.
Its very important that they learn “GG’s” means “Good Games!” someone told me GG’s once offline and not the full words and I didn’t know what the hell that guy was talking about and didn’t think he knew what’s up, also he played like Tweleve said in jest:
“When someone looks like they’re playing GGPO when they’re offline, that’s jungle”
