okay it works, but I couldn’t get it to work if I threw him into the corner so be careful, you might only have to do 2 dashes. I was able to get Seth to dash out of it. So that really is the only defence he has against it. But blocking both ways didn’t stop Gen from doing it. I’m gonna post this on my channel, and give you full credit Street.
oh and teleport works too.
EDIT. His super can catch you while you are in the air, and his ultra 1 can counter. I was able to SRK trade as well. So it’s a gamble but if it works it pays off, Teiga is hard to setup as it is, so might as well go for broke I guess.
I tried multiple neutral jump timings and seems to be the same. As long as he blocks you are good. Teiga recovers pretty quickly too, so if he reversals out with Lightning kicks we should be safe.
Thanks for confirming bro, but it’s disappointing that some of my tests’ results were way off. I’d rather go with your safer results. Lack of my time prevented me from testing with Super and U1, and I thank you for that. I enjoy your youtube channel and I sure would be glad if more Gen players get to know about this.
Basically, on Seth, if you do Teiga in the point blank range (from what I can see, it doesn’t matter if it is on his wake up or not), it’ll cross up on him, but he cannot walk forward cuz he is damn tall and cannot get past you. Unlike Sagat, whom you can’t cross up with the same method.
Just for info, Teiga is -6 at best (if blocked in the last active frame)
I think it’s a good thing that people help out and confirm. Prevents people from trolling.
Really though, it’s worth a shot. Especially if you need to go for broke, might as well go for it. I’ll test it some more and find out all his options on getting out.
So this only works on seth? I thought stuff like this worked on makoto n sakura? i think it was Hogeik who did something like throw, roll, teiga.
Yes, only on Seth. It’s bit different on Makoto, Sakura and others, since iirc they’re just cross-up settings on wake-up, and it’s meaty so they cannot crouch. I believe they can walk forward to avoid/block it.
Seth, on the other hand, cannot. Against Sagat, he can block as normal and can punish you, and against Gief & Hawk, they can block as normal but will be hard to punish since you go across the other side.
I mix up between throwing, (m) s.mp, (m) s.lp, (m) c.hk or sometimes a LK gekiro just to catch a tech or jump.
I’m pretty sure Gen is at positive frames after landing it so I wouldn’t really do much other than apply pressure, all depends on your opponent. Sometimes a backdash is necessary if you’re unsure and against a twitchy Ryu who loves to throw out those SRK’s
besides you can throw after it and it will beat out any jab or normal they throw out, it will lose to SRK though, backdash is not really a good option, instead I normally go for a throw, or cJab or fierce into hands. (I really need to learn how to use Gen well)
@ messiah
I have been training like you asked me to, but the drawback i seem to have is that I play vanilla instead of super. and am going to have a match with one of the best players in Nigeria tomorrow, am kind of shaky, the first time I played him I lost to him 22-0 although I was a scrub then. any tips on how to play someone that is better than you all round?
Jump less, if you do jump neutral jump. don’t always rely on s.MK hands (most vanilla gen’s did that). If you get a chance to punish, use s.MP, s.MK, lk gekiro.
all three can be very difficult vs Gen. read the match-up thread on these characters. Cuz I’ll just be repeating what is there. I believe all three have really good ideas. Especially the Abel one.
Greeting fellow old geezers( gens)
I am no means a gen expert, but id like to share something with u.
We know that gens f.a in mantis has huge range yes? I will automatically pick u2 if i see a fireball character( except guile)
Mainly rose, ryu,e ryu,ken or sagat. Why?
Good ryus chuck mad plasma. I swear the hitbox on his crane f.a i s godlike cus i seem to get f.a. Lvl 2 crumple dash back jumpmback u2 ALL THE TIME. i cant upload any replays right now but ill explain how i pull it off.
A good ryu still stop throwing plasma and dash back, solar plexus, or bait srk when u foucs hadokens and get into a decent dash up grab range yes? ITs risky, but sometimes ill focus through some fire balls DEEP. almost right next to him, where a standing mp will land, dash back and focus.
At that range, srk wont hit me, thus the only thing i have to worry about is super, ultra, ex ex plasma, or tatsu, on dash back. So if i see a regular hadoken, i just let go my focus for a lvl 2 crumple jump back u2!
Also, its iffy, but ive been able to focus and dash under tatsus before it hits.
Also i fake a u2 cross up. The idea is to cross over in any stance, crane cr lk,mantis sweep, wiff a crane roll,( opponet is just about to be finished standing up now) jump back u2. Worst case, they block but i sail over( not sagat)
Better case, the dash back in i get them. Best case, the throw a move out and i get a counter hit.
Also, i play a good yun that has a rule of thumb. He doesnt do wake up anything. Ive watched his imputs and all he does is wake up crouch tech. So if i crossover, he blocks my block string. If i miss judge the distance or timing my crossover, he gets a free throw, and if i manage to fake cross up, i eat up kick or command grap for my botched block string.
Any suggestions would help.
Also add me on xbl, as i would love some training from masters like yourself.

Thank you guys
I found a teleport glitch vs. T.Hawk last night. Not sure if it’s been documented.
After landing an SPD, he crossed me up with an empty jump ultra 1. I used Mantis s.mk immediately before he did U1, which teleported him in front of me like a reverse tiger cannon glitch. The U1 whiffed and I punished him for full combo.
I think it’s because s.mk moves Gen forward, then back again, but the space T.Hawk occupies on screen was overlapping with the place I was supposed to move back into. Instead of pushing me forward and getting hit with ultra, instead it still moved me back and behind T.Hawk.
I’m not sure if this has other implications, but I use S.mk or c.mp or similar moves to move my hitbox forward and throw off cross up attempts. Had no idea it’d lead to these kinda weird glitches.
Anyhow, up to you guys to find out if it works for anything else. I don’t have recording equipment to make a video :(. Just thought I’d share.
ok, has anyone tried to get garaunteed cross up ultra 1 reset setups after mantis super? ive seen people use jabs, but thats too hard to try and manually time against every character.
i was screwing around and found a couple no brainer easy resets into the crossup.
against ryu, i did mantis st.mp, and mashed ultra and it crosses up
then against honda i did mantis st.lk, and mashed ultra and it crossed up
there has to be more auto timing setups like that. you would just need to find out which normals lead to crossups on which character
I have gotten some successful resets into crossup ultra on some of the cast, but it’s more of a timing thing. I tend to use mantis s.mp as I have more luck with it.
Are there any safejumps against the twins besides the lp roll setup? I’m still trying to do forward throw 2x dash neutral and get hit everytime.
so after an ex hands combo followed by sweep on ryu, you can get that meaty “psycho crusher/blanka ball” cross up oga pretty easy with a lk far oga to his wall. timing seems pretty simple, but is still something you have to ‘eye ball’
EDIT- this is actually pretty good. works on most characters with the exact same timing. you just have to be more mid screen than corner.
net cost for burning an ex stock on this if the oga hits plus a follow up giekro is about 1/4 bar
A nice little safejump and oga cross-up chart made by CantoEsper:
My labwork pays off, possible new Oga cross-ups:
Didn’t see it mentioned out here so I thought I’d throw this out for those that didn’t know yet since this is a very practical use of an Oga cross-up. The best part about this is you can comfortably strart charging during the Gekiro meaning your opponent has very little time to actually react to it. This also means means you can do Gens bnb into TC2 lk gekiro and set this up after every bnb you hit basically. I actually did not know about this one until today so I tried it online and I even got it to work on some scrub twice (s.lp s.lp TC2 lk gekiro>mk oga cross-up> super> lk gekiro> mk oga cross-up> ultra LOL).
mk Oga cross-up after a lk gekiro (complete).
Works on these characters that I have tested so far using quickstand aswell:
Ryu
Ken
Cody
Guile
Fei Long
Akuma
Chun-li (slight delay the oga, she needs to stand)
Evil Ryu
Sakura (it appears you need to do the oga as soon you can assuming quickstand)
El Fuerte (only works if you combo into lk gekiro from TC1 or mantis super and juggle him above Gen)
Rose (only from TC1 or mantis super and juggle her above Gen)
Cammy
Gouken (only from TC1 or mantis super and juggle him above Gen)
Dudley (only from TC1 or mantis super and juggle him above Gen)
Bison
On the characters listed that have no additonal info it is easy as fuck to perform this cross-up after any TC2 combo into lk gekiro or after a super. On the others it appears you generally need to juggle them higher with the lk gekiro in order to have the mk oga cross-up. TC1 allows the lk gekiro to kind of scoop them from beneath thus making it able to juggle them above Gen, as does lk gekiro after the super. Well it gives TC1 some extra use in those match-ups for me now lol.
I tested some more of that and it would appear TC1 (c.lk c.mk) into lk gekiro sets up the mk oga cross-up for a large amount of characters, it also works on Abel, Makoto and Adon. In Makoto’s and Adons case you can set up a mk oga cross-up after the super aswell but you have to use hk gekiro (complete) and then do mk oga. You have to remember to juggle them as high as possible, especially for Adon as I find it a little tricky to land on him for some reason.
Suddenly mantis j.mk TC1 lk gekiro seems a lot more useful… =)
I have to say that Back throw into the corner, 1x dash, Mantis Ultra 1 is becoming my friend. Once it starts to become known within the rest of the community, maybe doing it juts a bit off might cause them to think it’s going to cross up but of course it doesn’t.
