The problem I have with picking U2 over U1 is that I really only see a reason to pick U2 for crane U2. Yeah it’s great for projectile characters but…mantis U2 is still kind of shitty to me. With U1 you get two very useful ultras that both can be used for multiple things. I do use U2 sometimes though if I need to change my tactics against someone in a FT10 or whatever.
Gen matchup is even vs Rose. Have your OS sweep down and abuse that focus attack! If your footsie game is better than hers, you will beat her every time.
Anyways, I’ve had a pocket Gen ever since Vanilla and always wondered if there was a proper way to mp xx hands or mk xx hands. I piano btw.
For cr.mp, I drum mp to lp twice with my two fingers, then hit hp with my ring finger.
For st.mk, st.mk+lp, lp+mp+hp, hp
Are there more efficient methods? Or just whatever is comfortable? I feel like my method for cr.mp hands leads into a higher chance of getting accidental EX hands because of the order I press them.
Yeah Mantis U2 is still disapointing. And there’s aways the chance of Crane J.HK*2xxCrane Ultra1 too.

Focus attack gets demolished by spiral. Sweep often misses if she backdashes at particular times due to her godlike backdash 
IIRC TK Crane U2 can punish yoga sniper as well (back j.HP). I know I did it once, but it seems like a fairly difficult thing to do frame-wise on hit.
Rose’s 4f cr.MP is fairly annoying, but she doesn’t have a huge comeback factor. Most spirals, unless timed perfectly, can be punished by st.LP or reversal hands. Her normals are pretty good (and she has 2 normals that can absolutely crush any low attacks), so you have to sometimes stop pressing buttons and block or focus backdash in order to reset the situation.
I think in overall, Gen beats Rose by a slight amount (I would say a difficult 5-5 for Rose)
I do it the exact same way, mp,lp,mp,lp,hp. Whatever works for you.
I was talking to a friend of mine, an out of town Balrog player who said a Gen player in Austin was beating him by abusing ‘the unblockable’ every time he got a knockdown. Now i’ve known Gen had some unblockables against specific characters but he made it sound (in a very condescending way) like there was some universal unblockable that every Gen player should know. Is there a compendium of all the unblockables he has? The only one i know against balrog requires him to not quick getup… so yeah.
EDIT: NEVERMIND, I see it. And it’s a sticky thread too, facepalm for myself. But I didn’t see any Balrog unblockable in there besides the one I already knew.

You mean the crossup oga? That’s what I figured but I asked him if that was the case and he said no. I’d like to dick around in training room and see if I can find something but I have neither the knowledge of how to set that up nor the patience to do it yet. I find it hard to believe that some Gen I’ve beat before has this complete broken alien technology vs. balrog nobody knows yet. According to him, it was an unblockable off ‘any knockdown’… right >.>
Balrog has a solid hurtbox that is not easy to unblockable against, that is why there are very few unblockables. the balrog guy is clueless. if you think I am joking just ask him how to know where to block an Oga lol! will look into it also in the lab maybe I missed something on Rog. Balrog has a similar structure to fei long but with a little difference.
pls ask your friend what kind of knockdown. whether sweep or throw
Messed around training mode a bit. Seems like Gen’s jumping normals are the same regardless of whether the jump is neutral or angled and standing normals are the same regardless of distance? Also, got addicted to Crane jump arc. That thing feels delicious.
Gen sMP in mantis does different damage based on distance in vanilla, dont know if its still true, Gen forward jump crane mk is not the same as neutral jump crane medium kick. they are not the same

OS Reversal U1 on Rose makes the matchup pretty fun if someone doesn’t know about it.

Technically messiah is correct. Gen doesn’t win/lose to anyone… we do 
Oh yeah, if you’re finishing off someone with Super -> U1 and you still have round 2 or 3 left, make sure you go for Crane U1 instead of Mantis. Mantis U1 gives opponents twice as much Super meter (almost half a bar) compared to Crane U1 (1/4th of a bar).
