I understand the way Street11 and Ugo_2u use it, but after a knockdown…? I mean, if you have super, the opponent will probably be extra cautious to avoid the possible cr.lk. And if you don’t have the super, from that distance you can’t do much else in case you land it. You use it to bait a reaction?

I got two questions. I do kara throws a lot so I figure learning that crossup oga setup would be really good. But I’m having a lot of trouble doing it, specifically all the ‘walk forward a tiny bit’ ones. I’m mostly just getting jumping light kicks. I’ve tried it through various charge lengths to make sure i’m not getting the charge time wrong. Is there anything special anyone knows about doing this, or is it just a “keep trying to do it until you figure it out” sort of thing.

Also, do you guys consider crane cr.hk a better anti-air than mantis cr.hp? I’m thinking of trying to train myself to switch stances and crane cr.hk on reaction for anti-airs, but maybe it’s just the aesthetics of it that bother me. Do mk./hk gekiro’s have any use as anti-airs besides against floaters like chun/bison?

You need to hit the kick button a bit earlier. The direction goes similar to d -> f -> u. While we are used to time the kick button when the direction is going from d to u, we are not when it comes to going from f to u, but it takes less time to go from f to u than d to u.

Crane cr.HK and mantis cr.HP cover separate distance, but in general i use crane cr.HK more due to the spacing on ground.

MK and HK Gekiro do not have the hitbox to make it a reliable AA. At best you will counter hit them out, most times you will trade, sometimes straightout lose to normals like Sakura/Chun/Vega’s j.HK, Ryu/Ken’s j.HP and j.LK, and many more.

I do always have super stocked before using it. Never said I saw a use for it without super, but yes without super it won’t do much at all. People seem to fall for it when they get overly cautious of the crane MP overhead, or stick out a poke, or thought I was going for a throw. Not saying that I am using it the best possible way though, I think that’s why I am asking for tips.

I know it is, but I’m trying to find a use for it. Why would they buff it in 2012 AND make it super cancelable? I dont have the game at the moment so I cant go to the lab :frowning:

It was always super cancellable, but you cannot cancel a crane move into a mantis move, otherwise Gen would be a boss.

Confirmed. Yes on CH, Crane cr mk, FADC, Mantis st mp does link.

so when u anti air with it u can go into a full combo…assuming anti air crane cr mk is a ch. testing!

also I’m thinking about the different uses of hands cus at the moment I only do fierce hands and ex hands, but the other hands might have yet to be discovered or interesting properties.

how are you guys gonna consistently hitconfirm all that stuff out of a possible counter hit?

I wouldn’t say I would FADC as an AA, since it almost never hits CH.

But I think I can OS FADC right outside of crane cr.MK’s range where if someone pushes a button it will register a CH.

crane lp crlk i dnt find any use for it expct in the corner for ultra and it dnt fadc but i find mantis stlp crane cr lk fadc ultra very useful good mind game arond mid screen can u fadc dash ultra and if u wanna do more dmg after fadc dash meaty crmp it will auto correct them and make them land on the underside bc u dogde it then u can do mantis u1 if time right for cross up or jsut play footie or use it to pull them into corner and get some momention for your self .if u try mantis stlp crane crlk and u fck it up bc u hitting it to fast and not pressing at the right frame and mantis crlk come out u can stil ladd pressure mantis lk come out crlk mp hand or if u charge crane mp roll it

after crlk do any bnb
