it’s best to do HP hands. It gives you a bigger window to FADC. Try to FADC on the 4th hit (last hit you can possibly cancel)
Not to mention 1st and 4th gives you a different frame advantage than 2nd and 3rd hits.
whats the actual frame adv on the first and 4th compared to 2ns and 3rd? thanks for the swift answers so far chaps
I asked that question. Let me record and see if I can figure it out.
ya I can’t capture at 60fps. Just as a test PPP cHP comes out in 5 seconds. And it’s supposed to come out in 7. Sorry can’t help you out. Best thing to do is FADC on 4th, and plink if you can. It helps online.
no worries thanks for trying, next time i play i’ll try and fadc the 4th hit, iwas trying to do the first but itwas difficult to do it quick enough
i feel abit silly asking this as i’ve been using Gen for a long time… but.
how important is Gekiro in combo’s? for example my BnB (say from a jump in) cr.lk, cr.lp, st.mp, mk hands.
is it better to do a combo that ends in Gekiro instead? … looking at the damage Gekiro combo’s do more. But i dont really see the full benefit as it can be teched and a reversal can be on its way if you decide to apply pressure. For me mk hands is the safest option.
But i would like to hear from the Gen commmunity on this so i can see the benefits of it. as i would like to apply it in my game and put the time in to practice the Gekiro combo’s.
yes Gekiro is better IMO.It doesn’t push them back, and gives you better positioning.
Hit confirm from s.mp, then s.mk->lk Gekiro. Better damage, is a hit confirm (unlike hp->gekiro) and a knock down.
Why would you ever not go for a Hp->Gekiro or s.mp->s.mk->Gekiro if you hit a jump in? Cr.lk has a 5 frame startup so if you don’t hit your jump-in deep (or it’s blocked), scrubs can mash out dp->fadc.
If your execution is very good in stance changes, you could (m)s.mp->©c.mp->lk/ex roll from a jump in. Turns out to have better stun and damage than the Gekiro combos, but if blocked you’re at -3. -3 frames is enough to get hit by a mash out shoto-dp or get SPD. The perk to this though is that it builds great meter even on block, and is pretty much the only way to get chip damage in with Gen. I’ve been using this a whole lot more lately against anyone who can’t reversal it properly. Still lacks the knock down of Gekiro combos.
Combos ending in hands are for hit confirm->super combos. They are much safer if your execution is shit. Sometimes hands is disadvantageous because it puts your opponents into an area where they have good options. Rose, Guile, Chun, and Sagat come to mind. After hands, it’s very difficult to get in again on them. Better to get knock down.
I mostly use s.mk->hands to build meter while poking. The damage is shit unless you have super or are willing to blow meter for a minimally increased return.
Jump-in, s.MP is a huge hit confirm. Listen to Vanesco what he says is pretty much what you need to start doing. Mixing it up and going into c.lk is okay, but really you should be only using it to start combos from the ground if you think you have to start low…or if you are jumping in and think you need to start low. Personally I like to mix it up and go for a empty jump, Option-Select c.LK+c.LP just incase they try to throw, then try and start a combo from c.LK
I also only use MK hands for pokes or if I have super. I might use hands so if I have two bars and think using a FADC combo is best. Normally I save my meter for super.
On another note: Has anyone else noticed this? When I go to my Thursday night meet, the LCD tvs seem laggy. Sometimes it feels as bad as a bad online match. Other times it’s okay. Seems really random. So I’ve yet to play versus on my TV. My buddy came over to play, and I felt the same thing. So it seems it only happens when two sticks are plugged into the console. I’ve tried having one plugged into the front and one plugged into the back… Anyone else noticed that shyte?
Been working on that combo video and when I break down each combo, I take a SS and edit the image to make it stand out. From the combo FA3, FA1, Crane Super… I ended up with this. I love it because it looks like Gen is blasting Seth with his Ki.
It’s too bad he doesn’t have a move like this, he’d be top tier for sure.
thats pretty cool looking.
Came back after a long break. I wonder if I can pick up the old man again lol.
I’m currently thinking about baiting out unsafe moves like SRK with stance changes. People need to see more of that action.
ya but doing that you’ll probably end up just eating a fireball. There are so many times where I’m changing stances and end up eating a EX fireball, it’s so dumb.
I feel that pain.
Still been on the grind 24/7 with Genny poo
*With new safe jump setups, resets, gameplay/matchup strats
P.S. Be on the lookout for the “Nu special”! Works everytime! ;D
NIce man. btw I lost your interviews, but got them back. They are uploaded.
Forsure, I’ve been meaning to say wsup but haven’t had the chance, and no rush man, take your time!
It’d be great for us lowlife Gens to see some more vids of you Nubbb. Just to let you know, if you feel like uploading something, it’d def be appreciated!
meh, then hopefully it’ll be of some use in wake-up baiting. But then I like straight offense.
