pointless glitch in makoto vs gen matchup
this is stupid because gen has other AA moves, but anybody notice how insanely good crane jump lk is as an air-to-air, anti air. only air normal ive seen beat chuns jump double fierce clean. also damned good against gief since his air normals are slow, and if he empty jumps, it can be hard as hell to hit him with a ground normal
its like 0 damage, but its got some uses
the first post in this very thread - i quote myself:
^^
I like to use it and crane j.jab vs guiles
is cr.MK xx Hands as awesome as it seems, after trying it for few matches, as an AA? ._.
due to its lowered hurtboxes, if spaced correctly
looks too good to be true considering the damage you can pull out after that, maybe it works wonders only in few matchups
Hey, could someone post gen’s stun rate or count. basically I want to know how many hits or combos he can take before he is dizzy. I like to keep this mind when dealing with someone who has great pressure game
900 health and 900 stun… both aver much below average.
works good vs attacks that stick out far horizontally like balrog jump fierce. sucks against attacks that are more angled, like blanka jump roundhouse
Thanks man
I’m so freakin furious about crane jab whiffing on Boxer after hitting j.MK. I know about it, but my muscles just do it automatically only for it to whiff and get grabbed/jabbed&Ultraed, w/e.
on chun li too, and on some others too
i actually got sick of that, i tend to go for PPP cLK straight away, or PPP sMP
Yea, I’m still practicing on that since I’m throwing out overhead all the time no matter how I ‘think’ I time it.
same timing as if you were going to use PPP s.MP, KKK c.MP
not really a matter of timing against some hurtboxes on crouch position just out of hitstun, imo
on some characters it just whiffs if your not veryvery close
in vanila the KKK jMK, sLP, cLK, was the only easy way to hit confirm the super or a knockdown from light hits… thats not a problem anymore in SSF4
I’m talking about KKK j.MK, PPP s.MP is the same timing as if you were to use PPP s.MP, KKK c.MP.
Ah, the timing I was talking about was PPP s.MP after KKK j.MK and the lovely stance glitch.
Btw, I seem to jump extraordinarily when I face against Guile, Dictator, and Honda. I’m too scared of Boom, knees, and headbutts. Can any1 tell me how to stay grounded and zone them around?
Well some characters you can jump against just because they some what force you to in some circumstances. Like Guile and Sim. For Guile, neutral jump at the right time with a nice long poke like Crane j.MP, or Focus attack their Boom if they jump over dash under, if they don’t dash back. Sometimes you can try to throw them off by hitting them after you Focus Attack the boom. but in most cases they will use a s.HP or another poke. When I play Guiles I use oga feints get them to commit to something. IMO you really have to be patient vs non rush down guiles and wait for the right moment to jump in or dash in. using walk forward, block tactic can work to get in on them.
Bisons, you have to use your pokes to keep him out. I find his jump messes up some of my anti airs even if I try to let them auto correct(Online, but offline I don’t have too many problems). What I do for jump in Bisons, is neutral jump normal stuffs, or dash under them. Knee pressure use s.MP to punish then go from there. Watch out for EX meter.
Honda is another one you some times have to walk forward then crouch block just to get in on. If you jump in, you eat a headbutt, his Chop, EX buttslam or Neutral Jump Fierce. If he uses neutral jump fierce to try to keep you out. dash in on him then block. Also if you have super use crane super it hits him like full screen. headbutts IMO are great if you are playing vs a honda that is good at keeping you away. because he comes to you. then u use a roll to get on him
Ty very much for the info.
I currently do not have problems for Bison’s jump, I’m not really scared of them unlike Adon’s jump. However, I find his s.MK, s.HK, c.LK, and knee really choking on me.
I guess for Guile I just need to be patient like u told me. I seem to get impatient against those who starts hold back or start spamming jump back at the start of the match. As for Honda I am going to try what you told me to do. I’m pretty lost on this one =[.
I was and still can be the same way. But now that i try to be more into footsie tactics, I’ve learned to be more patient. I’m still in the footsies mind set and my reactions aren’t there yet from going from footsies to AA’s instead of some what just standing there and AA’ing.
Honda is similar to Guile that he can have trouble with cross ups. His EX butt splash is really good as a AA though, so try to safe jump it and block when he comes down or dash away. Honda players usually are very defensive players, let them neutral jump fierce all day, waste their own time. If they use headbutt across screen, block it and go into a roll, you get in on them and then can apply pressure.
so just for fun. I went through the forums for some of the best characters, and tried out their links in matches. I don’t even play any of them and if I do, it’s because I’m bored or it’s in trials. So, it’s not like I have these characters down to a T or even another letter that would describe it. So just to name a few.
Ryu. LOL damn his links are super easy, and I was watching the meter to see how much he builds. Damn he builds more meter with a blocked SRK than Gen builds with a combo that hits.
Bison, links aren’t that hard at all, he was one of the first trials I completed. Played a few endless, and his rush down is easy to use.
Rog, once again easy ass links that produce really good damage.
I know this is old news, but I wanted to see first hand how some of these characters felt like using them for the first time in matches. I can see why so many people use them. Easy to use, great damage, great stamina. A lot of people say they use Ryu because he’s their favorite character. But I doubt most of them would still play him if almost all of his matches were uphill battles like Gen. You might say, well look at you with Gen. He was pretty good in Vanilla, and some say he’s not so great now; if you stuck with him, why can’t other people? Why? because Gen is totally different. Ryu you can pick up in a day, Gen you have to know all the ins and outs. So more time is put into him, and Gen has more depth with move sets and strategies. Gen IMO makes for more of an exciting fight than Ryu does. Also only two Ryu’s in Vanilla and Super have ever kept me interested in their Ryu matches. They are Daigo and Poongko. Any other time I watch a ryu match, I yawn and could care less.
Ya so anyways, I was bored and had nothing better do to than try that, and write this.
