Gem Synergy & Optimization (NO ASSIST GEMS)

Yeah I get tons of people rushing me down or they stay hella far away. I can’t even gauge what’s high level play. Nobody has good setups even though I roll tech maybe once or twice a round. I think a surprise EX-Fury Fist spam once a round helps keep people honest a bit with pressuring him up front. Some good Spin kick chip pressure off normal cancels and even dragon sweeper is not bad either. You’re actually spaced pretty good for a somersault to anti-air some people if they jump at you right after they block spin kicks which is -1 on block.

As stated, this is not the point of this thread.

I have 3 attack gems on my nina and most of the times all 3 come up at the same time so if I get someone into a combo he is pretty much dead. My second character juri has the +10% on luncher and the pnadora gems since nina has a no meter cost pandora set up that sends the enemy pretty high for followups.

Im sorry but, can you(and people in the future) stop being “Vague”. I do not want to keep asking what gems your using, even if you just put the # I can look it up, but being vague like “I use 3 attack gems” isn’t useful for anyone. Thats like me saying I use this Ryu combo and you die…come on now.

you explain Juri’s gems and im ok with that, i understood the setup going on there.

i dont like damage gems. people tend to turtle as soon as they see few of them pop up.
fortitude,speed or meter gems are better imo

They work just fine when your already hitting them :stuck_out_tongue:

Dealing with turtles is not the point and I’m not going to touch that can of worms…it’ll go off topic.

I do not believe any assist gems are made for competitive play in a any form but the extend gem doesn’t hurt any feelings. Sure.

I just wished they had easier meter reduction gem usage or make tagging free cost.

Meter extend would be good. Give me 4 bars instead of 3. Takes 2 or 3 slots and you can only fill out all 4 bars 1 once per round, once the 4th bar is spent it disappears, possibly comes with an HP deficit as well. Would be good for chipping someone out in the corner with a bunch of safe EX moves and doing 1 really long combo at some point in the round.

Pretty good thread, I’ve been putting a good bit of thought into gems now that I’ve logged a ton of gameplay.
This is what has worked the best for me:

Chun (on point character - great for getting partners in)
-perform a launcher once – power +20%
-perform a launcher twice – power +30% (thinking of subbing to +20% super art activation)
-perform a launcher once – meter + 40%

Juri (great for switch cancel, don’t normally do launcher with her)
-partner performs launcher activated all three power +10%, speed +10 and meter +40%

personal analysis:
I’m thinking of switching Juri’s power+10% to the super art activated power boost +20% as I use her super A LOT! Basically if I have two bars I go for it.
speed on Juri is actually really nasty for rush down, sort of feels like AE’s Feng Shui activation. great for pushing opponents in the corner and getting Chun back in with typically a 50% damage boost for at least 10 seconds if I can get her in early enough.
I do this because Chun alone doesn’t have many high damaging combos, but her length and comboing abilities once she’s got you will bring some major hurt in a hurry.

I feel Chun Li needs meter to do her best damage and perform her rush down tactics. This is why I also feel she responds very well to power gems.
Juri can do some sick shit without meter but like I said if I have an opportunity to use her SA I do. Of the pair she has more ways into it and does all around more damage with it

auto block and meter gain gem is a personal favorite, if nobody has seen it in action i recommend you try it

--’ this thread is dead already…or is it the board? Well I know it isn’t news but, if you do get the Collectors Edition Gems this June, you’ll be able to do some sick loadouts. Sad thing is…this game seems like its on it’s way out >>’ and that sucks…

I’m really curious what the SF and Tekken packs are going to be. I haven’t bought any of the Gem packs yet because I can’t picture myself using any of them, but I would like to know what option I’d have.

I doubt it at this point…I thought about it for a long time but then…if im already getting 100% C.Gauge boost already then think about how dumb its going to be with 2 more slots…err pretty much 1 EX Gem. so that gets boosted to 140% C.Guage Boost doing the same conditions…

Im not going to go into greater detail with Speed, Power or Defense or how dumb Assist Gems can get with 2 more slots…but to me its like this. I like to have 2 more slots but at the same time…I don’t know if players are ready to deal with 5 slots because they are bitching about 3 slot gem tech atm.

If we do get 5 slots…i’ll keep doing gem builds.

It’s in the game though… the hacked version demonstrated 5 gem slots.

I think it’s left over coding…but then again…it was fully functional >_>’ like the rest of the disk locked content… basically I wasn’t trying to get my hopes up.

So what I’m hoping for is that all of the DLC Gems are made available in a single unlock pack in the future for $5 or so. It’s be much easier for TOs that way and also a lot cheaper.

bet dubs it’s like $20 or something…all these $1 packs are going to add up…
